Experience Software Engineering Manager, Chief Software Architect (October 2004 present) SAIC, Inc (40 Commerce Drive Morgantown, WV 26501) Airborne Web Services Lead a team of 30+ engineers that created and continue to evolve an Airborne Networking Service- Oriented Architecture for the Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom AFB, Boston, MA. All services are designed and developed using a distributed, multi- layer approach, implemented using Java, JEE (focus on EJB 3.0 specification) and Web Service technologies. The services have been integrated into numerous existing clients supporting multiple programming languages in order to demonstrate services and interoperability. Primary area of concern centered on minimal bandwidth utilization given network constraints (19.2 kbps). Services are designed with focus toward ease of integration with legacy onboard systems. Technologies used include: Apache Tomcat, Jetty, Hibernate, Hypersonic, Derby, MySql, JAX- WS, JAXB, SOAP, WSDL, XSD and numerous standards from the WS- * stack. Services have been tested in additional applications servers including Glassfish, JBoss, and Oracle Weblogic. Adapter/connector architecture used to interface to existing/legacy systems. ESBs supported include Oracle Service Bus, IBM Websphere ESG, Mule ESB, and Apache ServiceMix. Lightweight map- based user interfaces for ios and Android were developed using Google Web Toolkit (GWT). Joint Dependency Analysis Database - Led the creation of a multi- language code analysis tool used by system integration teams to determine overall code relationships between languages. This tool enables users to determine the effects of code changes in various product releases to minimize and localize testing requirements. The tools were built using C#/.NET and included both HMI and CLI interfaces.

Led the redesign of an enterprise architecture for the U.S. Department of Energy - National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Provided technical expertise and direction concerning the implementation of new systems and the integration of legacy systems into a 1200 end user environment. This approach consisted of using N- tier distributed object computing leveraging proven technologies such as CORBA. Led the analysis, design and development of a system which enabled project management and tracking for NETL. This system followed a complete software design lifecycle, leveraging OOA&D via the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and has an install base of more than 300 end users.
