1 Software Announcement March 30, 2004 IBM extends data federation to Red Brick users by including DB2 Information Integrator in the Red Brick Gold Analytic offering and delivers Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup Edition Unlimited license Overview The following IBM Data Management Gold programs are updated: IBM Data Management Gold Transaction Processing Bundle for Enterprise IBM Data Management Gold Transaction Processing Bundle for SMB IBM Data Management Gold Business Intelligence Bundle for Enterprise IBM Data Management Gold Red Brick Analytic Bundle for Enterprise DB2 Information Integrator is now included in the IBM Data Management Gold Red Brick Analytic Bundle (Enterprise). This allows for federated database access to other IBM databases such as DB2 UDB, Informix Dynamic Server, and Extended Parallel Server. In addition, the following IBM Data Management Gold program is introduced: IBM Data Management Gold Transaction Processing Bundle for SMB Unlimited IBM is also announcing trade-up part s for the following products: Informix Extended Parallel Server to Data Management Gold Business Intelligence Bundle IBM Red Brick Warehouse Server Enterprise Edition to IBM Data Management Gold Red Brick Analytic Bundle (Enterprise) These programs are only available through Passport Advantage. The Gold Program offerings are intended for Informix customers who want the flexibility to install either Informix or DB2 products in whatever combination that is required to meet their business needs. These offerings allow you to purchase licenses to cover the entire business need, even if the exact mix of Informix and IBM database licenses is either not known or will change over time. You now have more flexible licensing terms for the Gold Program offerings. In cases where you may wish to transition from use of a licensed copy of the Informix Extended Parallel Server/Informix Dynamic Server/IBM Red Brick Warehouse Server product to use of the licensed set of corresponding DB2 products, you may now install and operate both sets of products to facilitate such a transition for a single period of 180 days. The following Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup Unlimited editions have been added to the IBM Data Management Gold Transaction Processing Bundle for SMB Unlimited: IBM Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup Edition Unlimited V9.4 IBM Informix Dynamic Server 7 Workgroup Edition Unlimited V7.31 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup Edition Unlimited gives IBM small and medium sized customers an ideal enterprise database and is now available on a CPU-based license in addition to the existing client and server licensing model. At a glance IBM Data Management Gold programs DB2 Information Integrator now included in the IBM Data Management Gold Red Brick Analytic Bundle (Enterprise). This allows for federated database access to other IBM databases. The Informix Extended Parallel Server and IBM Red Brick Warehouse Server to Gold Program trade up offerings are available to only those customers who already own valid licenses for these two products. Customers must specify IDS version. They can select either V9.40 or V7.31. If they select V7.31 first, they can always switch to V9.x later, if their configurations change, by following the normal IBM Passport Advantage fulfillment process.
