Select an appropriate installation location in the rack or enclosure: a. The InfraStruXure Central Standard appliance occupies 1 U of rack space. b. The InfraStruXure Central Enterprise appliance occupies 2 U of rack space. 2. At the front of the rack or enclosure, position one of the RapidRails slide assemblies so that its mounting-bracket flange aligns with the designated U-space on the rack or enclosure. 3. Push the slide assembly forward until the top mounting hook enters the top square hole of the selected U-space. 4. Push down on the mounting bracket flange until the two (2) mounting hooks are secured in the square holes of the Rack or Enclosure and the push button pops out and clicks. 5. At the rear of the enclosure, pull back on the mounting bracket flange until the top mounting hook is in the top square hole. InfraStruXure Central 2 of 9 APC-MGE Revised 10/27/10

3 6. Push the flange downward until the mounting hooks secure into place and the push button pops out. 7. Repeat Steps 2 7 for the slide assembly on the other side of the rack. 8. Pull the two slide assemblies out of the rack until they lock into the fully extended position. 9. Lift the InfraStruXure Central appliance into position in front of the extended slides. 10. Place one hand on the front-bottom of the system and the other hand on the back-bottom of the system and tilt the back of the system down while aligning the back shoulder screws on the sides of the system with the back slots on the side assemblies. 11. Engage the back shoulder screws into their slots. 12. Lower the front of the system and engage the front and middle shoulder screws in their slots (The middle slot is just behind the yellow system release latch). NOTE: When all shoulder screws are properly secured, the system locking mechanism at the front of each slide assembly clicks and locks the system into the slide assembly. 13. Press up on the slide release latch at the side of each slide to slide the system completely into the rack or enclosure. 14. Push in and turn the captive thumbscrews on each side of the front chassis panel to secure the system to the rack. 15. Install the Hub in the Rack or Enclosure per manufacturer s instructions. Installing the Cable Management Arm: NOTE: The Cable Management Arm can only be installed on the right side of the rack or enclosure. 1. From the rear of the rack or enclosure, locate the latch on the end of the slide assembly. 2. Push the tab on the back end of the Cable Management Arm into the latch on the end of the slide assembly. The latch will click when it locks into place. 3. Push the tab on the front end of the Cable Management Arm into the latch on the end of the slide assembly. The latch will click when it locks into place. 4. If applicable to the installation, install the system Status Indicator Cable Plug into its connector. a. Open the wire covers on the Cable Management Arm by lifting the center of the wire over the top of the embossed round button on the front of the forward part of the arm and lifting the wire over the top of a similar round button on the back part of the arm. The wire cover swings open to enable cables to be routed within the arm. b. Route the system status indicator end of the cable through the Cable Management Arm. c. Install the indicator in its slot at the back end of the Cable Management Arm. InfraStruXure Central 3 of 9 APC-MGE Revised 10/27/10

4 5. Connect the power cord(s) to the receptacle(s) on the rear panel of the appliance. NOTE: Allow some slack in each cable as you route them around the hinges in the Cable Management Arm. 6. Attach the I/O and network cables to their respective connectors on the rear panel of the appliance.. 7. Route the power, I/O, and network cables through the Cable Management Arm, using four (4) loosely secured tie wraps (two in the middle and one on each end of the Cable Management Arm). 8. Secure the cables to the Cable Management Arm. a. After connecting the cables to the system, unscrew the thumbscrews that secure the front of the system to the front vertical rail. b. Slide the system forward to the fully-extended position. c. Route the cables along the Cable Management Arm, make any adjustments needed to the cable slack at the hinge position, secure the cables to the Cable Management Arm with the tie wraps, and close the wire covers over the Cable Management Arm. 9. Slide the system in and out of the rack to verify that the cables are routed correctly and do not bind, stretch, or pinch with the movement of the Cable Management Arm. 10. Tighten the tie wraps just enough to ensure that the cable slack is neither too tight to cause excessive pinching or too loose to cause the cables to slip and the system is moved into and out of the rack. Configuring the Network Settings: IMPORTANT: Some of the network configuration steps outlined in this section only apply for the initial configuration of the InfraStruXure Central device at sites where a public network is not available. For sites where a public network is available, enter the actual public IP address when running the Serial Configuration Utility, and do not establish a peer-to-peer connection. Configure the ISX Central Settings using the Serial Configuration Utility: 1. Verify whether or not the installation site has a public network available. 2. Start the Serial Configuration Utility on your computer. 3. Connect one end of a null modem cable to a serial connection on your laptop computer and the other end of the cable to the serial port on the InfraStruXure Central server. 4. Plug the InfraStruXure Central Server power supply into a wall outlet and then connect it to the power cord connection. When the server has finished starting up, select the Next button. 5. Wait for the utility to scan your system and find the InfraStruXure Central device. Once the presence of the device has been established, select the radio button next to the device and select Next to configure the server settings.
