Encryption Algorithms: Classical Encryption Techniques, Block Ciphers and DES, AES, Block Cipher Operations, Public key Cryptography, RSA, Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange, Elliptic Curve cryptography, Hash Functions, Message Authentication Code, Digital Signature, Key management and distribution, User Authentication,. - 8 hrs. 3. System Security: - 5 hrs. Backups, integrity management, protecting against programmed threats viruses and worms, physical security, Personnel security. 4. Network security: - 8 hrs. Protection against eavesdropping, Security for modems, IP security, Web security, E l e c t r o n i c mail security, Authentication applications. 5. Security tools: - 4 hrs. Firewalls, Wrappers, proxies, discovering a break-in Denial of services attacks and solutions. 2 Practical Syllabus Tools: OpenSSL, Wireshark Module I: C Programs on functions, structures, unions, pointers and files - 2 Lab sessions A. Functions a) To find GCD of two numbers and use this function to find GCD of N numbers. b) Write a function to find factorial of a number c) Write a function to find Fibonacci series of a number d) Program to sort elements of given array using selection sort e) Program to find position of the largest element in the given array. f) Program to find length of a string. g) Program to copy a string to another. h) Program to compare two strings. i) program to evaluate the equation y = x 1 + x 2 + x 3 +.x n j) To add and multiply two matrices. B. Recursion a) To find factorial of a number b) To generate Fibonacci series till that number. c) To display given string. d) To search a number using binary search method e) To find gcd of two numbers. f) To find the value of X n g) To find Fibonacci series of a given number. h) To find sum of integers from 1 to N i) To find sum of series 1+1/3!+1/5!+ +1/N!. j) To calculate triangle numbers of entered number. C. Structures and Union a) Program to input and display book information. b) Program that takes coordinates of the centre point and a point on a circle as input and prints radius and area of a circle. c) Program to accept 5 people name, address and telephone number and to search for the information of a particular person. d) Accept the name, reg_no, marks in 6 subjects of N students. 3 i. Based on name. ii. Based on reg_no. iii. Accept a reg_no and search for this student using binary search e) Accept name, register number, marks in 3 subjects of n students. i. Find the average marks for each student and sort them in ascending order of average marks. ii. Display the details of a student given his register number f) Store the item number, item name, unit price and quantity in stock of N items in a super market. Display the following list of items present in the stock. i. List of items with unit price greater than Rs.129/ ii. List of items with quantity in stock less than 5. D. Pointers a) Count frequency of every character present in a line of text. b) Write functions for the following string operation. i. Concatenation. ii. Comparison. iii. Length iv. Copy v. Reverse. c) Program to swap two numbers. d) Program to find sum and difference of two given numbers e) To print biggest of two numbers. f) To find area and circumstance of a circle. E. Files and file operations a) Program to read data from keyboard write it in a file called DATA.txt again read the same data from the file and display it on the screen. b) Program to read and print number of alphabets and digits in a file. c) A file named DATA contains a series of integer numbers. Write a program to read these numbers and then write all odd numbers to a file to be called ODD and all even numbers to a file to be called EVEN. d) Write a program to open file in read mode and count number of lines and No. of characters in a file. e) Copy the content of one file into another. 4 Module II: Socket Programming - 2 Lab sessions a) Design UDP Client and Server to transfer a file. Step 1: Client sends ls to server Step 2: Client select a file Step 3: Selected file by the client will be sent to the client (copy-paste) b) Design TCP Client and Server to transfer a file. Step 1: Client sends ls to server Step 2: Client select a file Step 3: Selected file by the client will be sent to the client (copy-paste) c) Design a TCP concurrent server to convert a given text by client into upper case using multiplexing system call select. d) To develop a Client that contacts a given DNS Server (name to ip address mapping is present in dns.txt) to resolve a given host name. (Note: client refer dns.txt locally before request sent to DNS server) e) Write a client and server program for Signal Handling and Handling Zombie. f) Design TCP iterative Client and server application to reverse the given input sentence. g) Write a daytime UDP client program using gethostbyname and getservbyname, where hostname and service name are passed through the command line.
