3 This guide is only intended for installation of ATA devices over a public internet connection, also referred to as over-the-top (OTT). NOTE: If you are porting your telephone number from another service provider, you may experience a service outage between 7:00am GMT-6 no DST (when the service is provisioned) and 9:00am GMT-6 no DST (when the numbers are ported over from the other service provider). This is dependent upon a successful self-install of the devices between these hours. At 7:00am GMT-6 no DST, outgoing calls can be made with customer installed and configured devices. Incoming calls will not be successful to IBC devices until the port has been completed. GETTING STARTED What you need to get started: The ATA, ethernet cable, and power cord. A computer that is on the same network as the ATA. Configuration credentials. An will be sent on the date of your service order from the SaskTel Business Team with a subject line of IBC login and support. Included in the will be your IBC User ID and password, along with your ATA user name (10-digit phone number) and password. You will need these configuration credentials for this process. Keep this for future reference. Contact your Service Representative if you did not receive the . CONFIGURING THE ATA 1. Connect the ATA to a power source using the power cord provided. A blue power light will come on. ATA Self-installation and Configuration Guide 3

4 2. Use the ethernet cable to connect the blue ethernet LAN port, located on the back of the ATA, to a network. After a few seconds, a solid blue light should come on indicating that the network is connected. 3. Attach an analog phone to the green phone port numbered 1, located on the back of the ATA. Wait for the ATA to establish network connectivity. 4. Pick up the handset and dial * * * 0 2 (Star Star Star Zero Two) to hear the ATA s IP Address. Write it down and hang up the phone. 5. From a computer on the same network as the ATA, open a web browser. 6. Enter the ATA s IP address into the address bar and hit enter. This will take you to the Grandstream Device Configuration page. 7. Use these credentials to login: Username: admin Password: admin NOTE: If you cannot get to the login you may not be connected on the same network as the device. 5 8. Click on Advanced Settings. Complete the fields as follows: Firmware Upgrade and Provisioning: Upgrade Via: Click HTTP. Firmware Server Path and Config Server Path: Enter dms.ibc.sasktel.com/dms/defott/ in both fields. HTTP/HTTPS User Name: Enter the 10-digit user name provided in your IBC login and support . HTTP/HTTPS Password: Enter the password provided in your IBC login and support . ATA Self-installation and Configuration Guide 5

6 9. Scroll down to the bottom, click Apply. 10. Reboot the device. i. Click Advanced Settings. ii. Scroll to the bottom and click Reboot. iii. Close the webpage as it will not update you on the reboot process if open. NOTE: You can also disconnect and reconnect the power cord to reboot. The reboot will take about least 2-3 minutes. During this time different combinations of lights will come on. When complete, you should see either 3 or 4 lights on top of the ATA (power, network, line-1 status, line-2 status, if applicable), that stay on solid for more than a few seconds. NOTE: If you do not see the 3 or 4 lights go solid after 4 minutes, go back to step 7 and repeat the steps. 11. Test the ATA. To test the ATA, make a phone call from the phone and to the phone to confirm both incoming and outgoing calls are successful. When you pick up the handset the lights on the ATA may flash. If a call is connected, both incoming and outgoing, you have successfully configured your ATA. NOTE: Once configured, you will no longer be able to sign into the device with the credentials above. If you wish to connect a different device to your ATA at this time, you can do so. Examples of analog devices include Point of Sale devices, fax machines, paging systems, and cordless phones. 7 VOIP Important information regarding emergency calls: service is available in a non-standard way with SaskTel IBC. The caller s location and telephone number are not automatically transmitted with the call. The caller must orally provide the information to the operator answering the call. For calls made from within Canada and the United States, an operator will answer the call, request the caller s telephone number, location and emergency service required and route the call to the public safety answering point serving the location provided by the caller. If the caller cannot communicate his or her location or when a call is disconnected before the caller's location can be determined, and the operator cannot re-establish contact with the caller, SaskTel will use the registered service address to route the call to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point calls made from locations outside of Canada and the United States cannot be completed by the operator. The caller will be told to use an alternate service to place the emergency call calling via SaskTel IBC is provided subject to the availability of service at the customer s physical location. SaskTel IBC, including dialing, may not function in the event of a power failure or internet service provider service outage or if the account has been suspended or terminated for nonpayment or other permitted reasons. Service charges ordinarily applicable for service address changes will not be charged as they are required to update the service address database. Because the Service can be moved temporarily, the customer is required to update their address when using the Service somewhere other than the original registered location. Temporary address updates, can be made at using the 10-digit phone number and the same password used for voice mail service. Once submitted, location updates will be made in real time.
