1 The SmartControl 8 with Power over Ethernet (SSC-P008) is part of the Savant SmartControl family designed to provide infrared (IR) and serial control of third party devices. The SSC-P008 supports Power over Ethernet using the IEEE 80.3af standard. The SSC-P008 is an intelligent control product that connects with flat panel displays, DVD players, audio/video receivers, set-top boxes, projectors, lights, thermostats, window treatments, security systems, and other equipment commonly used in home automation and business installations. The SSC-P008 is a solution for small installations controlling IR-based devices. The SSC-P008 can also be used for cost-effective control expansion especially when additional IR control ports are required. The SSC-P008 can be linked to any Savant SmartSystem containing a Savant host HST-series or SVR-series. Number Item 1 Reset button Resets the device to factory default DHCP mode. Link LED Green indicates an Ethernet link has been established. Green flashing indicates Ethernet activity. Off indicates an Ethernet link has not been established. 3 Activity LED Green indicates an Ethernet speed of 100 Mb. Off indicates an Ethernet speed of 10 Mb. 4 RS3/485-1 RJ-45 port used to transmit and receive serial binary data transmission using RS-3/RS-4/RS-485. Handshaking included for flow control. 5 IR Infrared serial transmitter output ports. 6 Ethernet / PoE RJ-45 10/100 Base-T, auto-negotiating port. Supports Power over Ethernet using the PoE IEEE 80.3af standard. 7 RS3/485- RJ-45 port used to transmit and receive serial binary data transmission using RS-3/RS-4/RS-485.
