When this issue occurs there are two procedures that can be followed at the customer site to attempt to correct this issue that will be covered in this procedure. 2 System Description 2.

3 1 Overview A small number of CDE465 systems have been found to have POST issues when first powered on at customer sites. These systems with a memory issue will hang during POST with the B7, B9 or BF code in the lower right hand side of the system console. 5 3 Procedures 3.1 Prepare to access the CDE465 memory DIMMs Remove the power supplies, location shown in Figure 3 Figure 3 Important: Before proceeding ensure that you are properly grounded to the chassis using an ESD wrist strap. Remove the four screws anchoring the top cover of the chassis. The located of these screws are shown in Figures 4 and 5. Figure 4 5

7 3.1.1 Reseat the CDE465 memory DIMMs Locate the 16 Memory DIMMs as shown in Figure 7 Figure 7 For each memory DIMM, locate the two tab for each memory slots as shown in figure 8 Figure 8 7

Press down on both tabs at once to release the memory DIMM as shown is Figure 9 Figure 9 Once the DIMM is released, press it back into the slot until the two tabs lock in place Repeat this for the

8 Press down on both tabs at once to release the memory DIMM as shown is Figure 9 Figure 9 Once the DIMM is released, press it back into the slot until the two tabs lock in place Repeat this for the remaining 15 DIMMs. Reboot the system If the system boots beyond the System Initialization POST screen then reseating the DIMMs has corrected the issue. If the system once again stops at the System Initialization POST screen proceed to the following section Replace the CDE465 memory DIMMs Locate the 16 Memory DIMMs as shown in Figure 10 Figure 10 8

For each memory DIMM, locate the two tab for each memory slots as shown in figure 11 Figure 11 Press down on both tabs at once to release the memory DIMM as shown is Figure 12 Figure 12 Once the DIMM

9 For each memory DIMM, locate the two tab for each memory slots as shown in figure 11 Figure 11 Press down on both tabs at once to release the memory DIMM as shown is Figure 12 Figure 12 Once the DIMM is released, remove it by grasping the DIMM and pulling it upwards and out of the chassis Place the new DIMM (Cisco ordering code CDE4-MEM-DDR4-16G=) into memory slot and press down until the tabs lock in place Repeat this for the remaining 15 DIMMs. Reboot the system If the system boots beyond the System Initialization POST screen then replacing the DIMMs has corrected the issue. If the system once again stops at the System Initialization POST screen the system will have to be returned for RMA. 9
