Adding selected combinations of the new Flex System features to PureFlex Express or PureFlex Standard single chassis configurations will have a general availability date starting December 10, Any PureFlex configuration with any combination of the IBM Flex System x440 ( X) or the IBM Flex System v7000 Storage Node (4939-A29 or 4939-A49) or the IBM Flex System FC port 16Gb ESB SAN Scalable Switch adapter (#3771), which includes a top of rack switch E, C or 2498-B24 will be available starting January 28, 2013, including PureFlex Enterprise and PureFlex multi-chassis configurations. Description 64 GB (2 x 32 GB RDIMMs) 4 Gb DDR MHz System Memory A new 64 GB memory feature (#EEMF) is now available on the IBM Flex System p260, p460, and p24l compute nodes, doubling their memory capacity. The following memory features are now available on these compute nodes: # GB (2 x 4 GB DIMMs) #EEMD 16 GB (2 x 8 GB DIMMs) 4 Gb DDR3 system memory replaces #8199 #EEME 32 GB (2 x 16 GB DIMMs) 4 Gb DDR3 system memory replaces #8145 #EEMF 64 GB (2 x 32 GB DIMMs) 4 Gb DDR3 system memory Rack front door (Triplex, blue) A new triplex front door in blue color (#EU21) is now available on the PureFlex System 42U rack, replacing the current front door (#EC06), which is being withdrawn. IBM Flex System CN port 10 Gb converged adapter (#EC24) This adapter is now available on the IBM Flex System p260, p460, and p24l compute nodes. 3 Connection at 1 Gb or 10 Gb bandwidth Support up to six 10 Gb ports with IBM Flex System Fabric CN Gb Converged scalable switch or IBM Flex System EN Gb converged switch IBM Flex System EN port 10 Gb RoCE adapter (#EC26) This adapter is now available on the IBM Flex System p260, p460, and p24l compute nodes. The adapter offers: Dual 10 Gb Ethernet ports providing RDMA over converged Ethernet for low latency Enablement of commercial high-performance cluster applications IBM Flex System Fabric CN Gb converged scalable switch (#ESW2) This switch is now available on the IBM Flex System chassis. It offers uncompromising scalability, throughput, and performance. It is designed to help you save money and to reduce complexity by combining 10 GbE, 8 Gb native Fiber Channel, and 40 GbE ports in a high-performance platform. Consider this switch if you are looking for: Full fabric FCF including end-to-end FCoE. Reducing cost and integrating into your existing networking SAN. Investment protection to upgrade to FCoE or expand with more ports or bandwidth (40 GbE). Features of this switch include the following: This is a triple-density switch with the ability to scale based on your needs. It offers a total 64 ports with up to 42 internal 10 Gb ports and two external 10 Gb SFP+ ports, up to 12 Omni ports (10 GbE or 8 Gb native FC), and 2 40 Gb QSFP+ ports. The base switch includes 14 internal 10 Gb ports and 10 external SFP+ 10 Gb ports. Optional upgrade 1 offers 14 internal ports and two external 40 Gb QSFP+ ports that can also be used as four 10 Gb ports. Optional upgrade 2 offers 14 additional internal 10 Gb ports and enables four external SFP+ 10 Gb ports. Either upgrade 1 or 2, or both, can be applied; (upgrade 1 is not required to apply upgrade 2). 10 Gb SFP+ ports can function at 1 GbE or 10 GbE. Omni ports can function at 1GbE, 10 GbE, 4 Gb FC, or 8 Gb FC. 40 Gb QSFP+ ports can function at 10GbE or 40GbE. The switch offers full layer 2/3 Ethernet function and virtual fabric support and management. IBM Flex System EN4093R 10 Gb Virtual Fabric Scalable Switch (#ESW7) This switch is now available on the IBM Flex System Chassis. It offers uncompromising scalability, throughput, and performance. This switch can help you migrate to 10 Gb infrastructure and offers virtualization features such as virtual fabric and VMready. Consider this switch if you want to do any of the following: Build a 10 Gb Ethernet infrastructure or migrating from 1 Gb to 10 Gb (mixed environment). Deploy virtualization.
