1 Systems Compatibility Guide for ES Server RC Last Updated: August 22, 2006 Note: This is a list of items planned to be in the systems compatibility guide at the time of ES general availability. This is not a guarantee that these systems will be supported at the time of VMware ES Server general availability. This document should be used for planning purposes only and does not reflect any commitment of support from VMware. VMware ES Server RC supports all of the devices currently supported by ES Server 3.0. This guide includes accurate information as of 08/09/2006. See 64-Bit Guest Operating Systems on page 3. Introduction VMware ES Server is tested for compatibility with a variety of major guest operating systems running in virtual machines. Additionally, VMware ES Server is tested for compatibility with currently shipping platforms from the major server makers in prerelease testing. Our goal is to support a variety of storage and network adapters used as standard options for these platforms as they come to market. Servers Note: The minimum CPU clock speed recommended for ES Server has increased from that recommended for ES Server 2.x. Note 2: Many servers that are qualified with ES Server 2.5 may not appear on the list for ES Server Several of these are still undergoing certification by VMware or its OEM partners. For specific questions regarding when a particular server is planned to be supported with ES Server 3.0.1, please contact your server vendor. VMware works closely with each of its OEMs to drive towards mutual support of ES Server at the time of announcement. Due to different product release cycles, levels of testing, and OEM agreements, not all OEM devices will be supported at the general availability date of a new version of ES Server. VMware, Inc. 3
