1 The Savant Host and User Interface Server- Solid State Drive (SVR-4500S) within a Savant System provides numerous functions including automation and control functions, user interface (UI) interpretations, system administration, and monitoring. As a result, a Savant SVR-4500S is an essential component, which must be part of any complete Savant control solution. Feature Summary Key building block of any Savant audio/video and control, sound, communication or energy monitoring system The UI software resides in the Savant SVR-4500S. The UI software communicates with Savant s entire line of user interfaces including remotes, keypads, and mobile devices to on-screen displays. The UI software provides advanced two-way control of components and services that are commonly deployed in automation and control environments. Solid-state drives provide exceptional performance, enhanced reliability, and power savings. The SVR-4500S, within any Savant System, acts as the main media server controlling playback of any itunes content. Savant recommends that media be stored on an external network-attached storage (NAS) unit or hard drive. Integrated itunes Digital Media Server The solid state drive of the SVR-4500S delivers robust performance for mobile installations preventing shock and vibration issues, for example private transportation such as yachts, airplanes, and luxury coaches. The SVR-4500S is available starting with Release 5.2. As a master host, this device requires purchasing a license. 6 Specifications for Mounting Device in Rack The SVR-4500S can be mounted in a U-rack style enclosure (RCK-3000). The next figure shows a partial view of a typical rack used to house an SVR-4500S and other devices. SVR-4500S The exploded view (below) shows the SVR-4500S mounted with an RCK-3000 (the front access with removable faceplate, sliding trays, and mounting brackets) and an RCV-3000 (top cover). The open shelf design allows for proper ventilation and easy wiring. Cooling air enters the SVR-4500S through the gap around the bottom cover and exits through the vent on the back (as shown below).
