3 Glssary Thin Client Wrkstatin A thin client wrkstatin refers t a device whse purpse is t cnnect t a thin client server. This can be a wrkstatin, tablet r a purpse-built thin client device such as a Wyse Terminal. The Lytec MD applicatin sftware is installed n a thin client server. Infrmatin that passes acrss the netwrk frm the end-user is keystrkes, muse mvements, and screen images. Applicatin Server All custmers will have an applicatin server. This server is where the Lytec MD applicatin flder and Lytec MD SQL databases reside. The Lytec MD netwrk services are als installed n this server. Thin Client Server A thin client server is a shared resurce that runs applicatins, as ppsed t having the sftware installed lcally n PCs. It prvides advantages in ease f management and ptentially cst savings in sftware licenses and client hardware. Fr large rganizatins, there may be several thin client servers in the netwrk. Thin client servers can use Terminal Services by itself r als run the Citrix sftware. Use f Terminal Servers and/r Citrix is referred t as thin client server technlgy. Thin client servers are used when users are cnnecting frm remte lcatins (thrugh a WAN r bradband) r thrugh a wireless cnnectin. Thin client servers can als be used n a LAN t simplify administratin. Please make nte f the thin client server limitatins at the end f this dcument. Standard Wrkstatin A standard wrkstatin may als be referred t as a fat client, r thick client. The Lytec MD sftware is installed n the cmputer itself. Standard Wrkstatins must be n a LAN t the applicatin server. Applicatin Flder Every Lytec MD installatin has an applicatin flder. This flder cntains (but is nt limited t): cnfiguratin files, client sftware installatin files, interface files, temprary files, and unless specifically cnfigured therwise, image files. 3 Initials Date

4 Recmmended Cnfiguratins Belw are the Lytec MD infrastructure recmmendatins. These recmmendatins are based n a mix f industry standard technlgies and prven experience f ur custmers. These recmmendatins are als based n the minimum requirements listed in this dcument. Adding additinal resurces t sme equipment may change the recmmended cnfiguratin. These recmmendatins are fr prductin envirnments nly. Additinal infrastructure requirements may be necessary fr reprting, failver, testing r training envirnments. Please nte that recmmendatins are based n a maximum f 5 cncurrent Lytec MD sessins per prvider. Fr custmers with multiple databases, the number f prviders is calculated per database instance. Als nte that these requirements are specific t Lytec MD Althugh we try t anticipate future hardware and sftware needs and cmpatibilities, recmmended/required cnfiguratins may change with future versins s please be sure t cnsult the dcumentatin apprpriate t the versin yu are installing r upgrading t. Required Servers An applicatin server is required. Thin client server technlgy is required fr users cnnecting remtely (frm hme, ver a WAN, thrugh a VPN, etc.) r thrugh wireless devices. A separate thin client server is required if the ttal number f thin client users exceeds 10. Optinal Servers Fax Server Fr smaller custmers, the fax bard may be installed n ne f the existing servers in the envirnment, typically the applicatin server. Fr larger custmers ding significant vlume f faxing, a separate fax server may be required. This server cannt be virtualized. Web View Server If yu are using the Web View prduct, yu must als have a separate server t run the web services. This must be its wn server and cannt have patient data n it as the server must be cnfigured t reside in the netwrk s DMZ r have an encrypted tunnel t the internet t facilitate web traffic. 4 Initials Date

Sme thin client devices cme with a limited amunt f n-device strage. Lytec MD has nt been tested t run in this cnfiguratin and there will very likely be prblems. Thin client devices that will be accessing Lytec MD must d s thrugh a thin client server. 5 Initials Date

Custmers may already wn this sftware r can purchase it thrugh ther vendrs. T ensure prper peratin, belw is a list f the specific sftware versins that are cmpatible with Lytec MD Dragn Naturally Speaking 9.5 and 10.0 ZetaFax is required fr Windws 7 Midmark ECG 8.1 Midmark Spirmeter 8.1 ExitCare (required fr Windws 7) 6 Initials Date

7 Hardware Requirements The hardware requirements listed belw are designed t allw custmers flexibility in their deplyment f Lytec MD. Fr specific frmulas in determining hw much hard drive space yu need, please see the Disk Strage Requirements sectin. The belw minimum requirements are fr the Lytec MD sftware nly. If yu decide t run additinal services (fr example, DNS r Active Directry n yur applicatin server, r Micrsft Office n yur thin client server) yu will need t add additinal CPUs and/r RAM. 9 Peripherals Printers McKessn recmmends TCP/IP-enabled, PCL5-cmpatible printers. Fr custmers using thin client technlgy, use f the Uniprint sftware is recmmended. Mre infrmatin can be fund at Recmmended Mdels HP P2035N (fr light duty wrk, such as prescriptins) HP P4515N (fr medium t heavy duty wrk, such as charts and reprting) Scanners McKessn requires TWAIN-cmpatible scanners. Please ensure any scanner that yu purchase includes the necessary TWAIN driver sftware fr use with the scanner. Fr custmers using thin client technlgy, use f the Remte Scan sftware is recmmended. Mre infrmatin can be fund at Recmmended Mdels HP ScanJet 5000/7000 Fujitsu 6130 Fax Bard Fr small clinics, the fax bard can be installed n the applicatin server r a thin client server. 10 Lytec MD Best Practices Required The Lytec MD applicatin flder must be n its wn lgical partitin. The lgical drive n yur applicatin server must be a drive letter that is nt reserved by any wrkstatin (P: is the recmmended drive letter). The drive letter where the applicatin flder resides n the applicatin server must be available t be mapped n each and every Lytec MD cmputer. Backups are nt ptinal, they are required. A tape rtatin with peridic ffsite backups is recmmended. McKessn des nt install, supprt r maintain backup slutins. This is cmpletely the respnsibility f the custmer. McKessn can nt be held respnsible fr data lss incurred due t incmplete r crrupt backups. Anti-virus must be installed with the McKessn recmmended cnfiguratins. The applicatin flder, client flder and SQL database flders must be excluded frm realtime/n-access scanning. Scheduled scans when users are nt in the system are recmmended. Trend Micr and CA etrust are unapprved anti-virus slutins that may cause instability in the Lytec MD applicatin. The use f teamed netwrk interface cards (NICs) is nt supprted at this time. Lytec MD requires a dmain/active Directry infrastructure Thin client server technlgy is required fr wireless users, remte users (including remte clinics and hme users) and any ther nn-lcally netwrked wrkstatin Recmmended The Windws pagefile shuld be n its wn disk cntrller and shuld be tw times the amunt f RAM in the server. DNS shuld be n the same subnet as the Lytec MD cmputers. Hardware frm experienced and trusted vendrs (HP, Dell, IBM) is highly recmmended. Whitebx servers are strngly discuraged. Prvisin enugh space n yur perating system partitin fr grwth. McKessn recmmends 32GB+ fr yur perating system partitin. Custmers shuld have a hardware-level firewall prtecting their netwrk. Fr custmers utilizing thin client technlgy, a separate Active Directry Organizatin Unit is recmmended. McKessn recmmends serial attached SCSI (SAS) hard drives in applicatin servers fr best perfrmance. 10 Initials Date

11 Special Cnsideratins Clustering Lytec MD currently des nt supprt clustering. The applicatin server cannt be clustered. Virtual Machines McKessn supprts the use f virtual servers t run the Lytec MD applicatin. Virtual servers shuld nly be implemented by IT staff familiar in their implementatin, cnfiguratin and administratin. Hardware resurces allcated t virtual servers shuld be equal t the resurces required fr physical hardware. McKessn recmmends VMWare vsphere 4.0 (r higher) r Micrsft Hyper-V fr hypervisrs. Wrkstatin virtualizatin (such as VMWare View) is currently being evaluated and is nt currently supprted with Lytec MD. Thin Client Server Limitatins Use f a thin client server has certain limitatins. These limitatins are discussed belw. If yu have any questins abut these limitatins, please cntact ur supprt team. Midmark ECG The Midmark ECG is supprted in a stand-alne envirnment meaning that yu create and save results using Midmark s sftware. Yu can then exprt the results frm Midmark and imprt them int Lytec MD s database. By assigning the Patient IDs in the Midmark sftware, Lytec MD will autmatically imprt the reprt int the apprpriate patient chart. In rder fr this cnfiguratin t functin, the wrkstatins must have a serial prt; sme tablet PCs d nt have a serial prt and therefre wuld nt wrk. If the cmputer desn t have a serial prt yu can purchase a Midmark Serial t USB adaptr. Midmark Spirmeter The Midmark Spirmeter is supprted and can be used in real time. T use the Spirmeter in real time yu must have the serial versin f the Spirmeter and the wrkstatins must have a serial prt; sme tablet PCs d nt have a serial prt and therefre wuld nt wrk. If the cmputer desn t have a serial prt yu can purchase a Midmark Serial t USB adaptr. Dragn NaturallySpeaking Yu can use the Dragn speech recgnitin prduct in a thin client envirnment. Yu must install Dragn lcally. Using the shw dictatin bx feature in Dragn, yu can dictate directly int Lytec MD running n the thin client server. Nte that certain integratin features are nt cmpatible and d nt functin, but this methd des allw fr speech recgnitin capabilities within Lytec MD. Wrkstatins running Dragn NaturallySpeaking must have a minimum f 4GB f RAM. 11 Initials Date
