WARNING The electrical characteristics of anti-static mats should be checked before use, as described in the manufacturer s instructions for continued protection to both you and the equipment. CAUTION A recommended anti-static table mat is the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M) Part Number In addition to the table mat the person disassembling the monitor should either: 1 Wear a conductive wrist strap (#M Part No. 2046) attached to the mat by the 1.2 m (4 ) wire included with it, or 2 Stand on a floor mat with leather-soled shoes. Before handling any circuit boards, firmly touch the exposed metal on the case to equalize the ground potentials. This will prevent static discharge and protect the logic components of the monitor. Handle circuit boards on the edges only; avoid touching board surfaces unless performing circuit board repair. Contaminants like skin oil will attract dust to accumulate which could retain moisture and affect the circuit performance. 3

This installation note contains procedures on how to install the following upgrade kits for the IntelliVue MP20/30 patient monitors: M8027A #J13 Serial Interface / MIB ready (2 ports) #J14 Parallel Printer Interface #J22 PS/2 Interface (2 ports) #J23 Interface for the Remote SpeedPoint and Alarm Device #J30 Flexible Nurse Call Relay #J42 Network Interface #J60 Advanced Interface: Wireless Network, SVGA Video, Nurse Call Relay #E65 Battery Operation 4

9 3 3Installing J13 - J30 This section decribes how to install the following upgrade options: J13 - Serial Interface / MIB ready J14 - Parallel Printer Interface J23 - Remote Speedpoint and Remote Alarm Device J22 - PS/2 Interface J30 - Flexible Nurse Call Relay Installation Instructions Removing the Blank Covers CAUTION Unplug the AC power cord and remove the batteries before removing blank covers, I/O boards and the System Interface Board. Failure to remove the power cord and the batteries could cause damage to the monitor as it is still under power. 1 Remove the two screws securing each of the blank covers and remove them. 7

10 3 Installing J13 - J30 Installation Instructions 2 Use the board removal tool located inside the battery compartment door to pull off the blank covers (or other I/O boards, if boards need to be switched). 13 4 4Installing J42 & J60 This section decribes how to install the upgrade option J42 (Network Standard Interface Board) and J60 (Advanced System Interface board) for the MP20/30 monitors: Installation Instructions CAUTION Unplug the AC power cord and remove the batteries before removing blank covers, I/O boards and the System Interface Board. Failure to remove the power cord and the batteries could cause damage to the monitor as it is still under power. 1 Remove the two screws securing the blank cover (or the standard interface board if already installed) and then remove the cover (or the board) using the board removal tool located in the battery compartment. 2 Insert either the Standard Interface Board (J42) or the Advanced System Interface board (J60) into the slot, taking care not to damage the pins, and secure it with the two screws. NOTE Ensure that the board removal tool is snapped properly into place inside the battery compartment door after each use. 11

15 5 5Installing E65 This section decribes how to install the upgrade option E65 (Battery Operation) for the MP20/30 monitors: Installation Instructions CAUTION Unplug the AC power cord before performing the upgrade. Failure to remove the power cord could cause damage to the monitor as it is still under power. 1 Turn the two plastic screw pins 180 degrees counterclockwise and pull them out. Use a small screwdriver to pull the screw head out of the recess in the housing. 13

16 5 Installing E65 Installation Instructions 2 The hinges allow the monitor to be opened like a book. Support the display before proceeding further.then remove the M3x6 screw indicated below. 3 Insert the battery board making sure the connector on the rear is plugged in, and secure the board with three screws. 4 Reassemble the monitor by following the above steps in reverse order. 14

17 Installation Instructions 5 Installing E65 5 Remove the battery barrier by releasing the snaps on each side with a flat-tipped screw driver and pulling the barrier out. 6 Perform the safety tests as described in your service guide. 15

19 6Verification of Upgrade 6 After an upgrade you must test the monitor to ensure that the unit has full functionality. If an upgrade has been performed where the unit has not been opened (i.e. front and back half of the monitor have not been separated): 1 Perform Power On Test block. If an upgrade has been performed where the unit has been opened (i.e. front and back half of the monitor have been separated): 1 Perform Power On Test block. 2 Perform Safety Tests as described in your service guide. 17
