ABOUT THE RACK-360G The 4U, heavy-duty steel RACK-360G AT/ATX cmpatible rackmunt industrial chassis is designed t perate reliably in industrial envirnments where it will be expsed t dust, wide temperature variatins, and shcks and vibratins, amng ther things. 3 INSTALLATION STEPS T install the RACK-360G chassis, the fllwing installatin steps must be cmpleted: Unpack the chassis Install the frnt handles Remve the tp cver and hld-dwn clamp Install the PSU (pwer supply unit) Step 5: Install the backplane Step 6: Install the CPU card Step 7: Install the PCI and ISA expansin cards Step 8: Install the disk drives Step 9: Cnnect the frnt panel cables Step 10: Cnnect PSU cable and interface cable Step 11: Reinstall the hld-dwn clamp and the tp cver.step 0: The installatin steps utlined abve are described in detail belw. Please refer t the relevant sectin. STEP 1: UNPACK The RACK-360G is shipped in a plastic bag that is placed inside a cardbard bx. The accessries are als shipped with the chassis. When yu unpack the chassis yu must: Make sure all the accessries and cmpnents listed abve are present Make sure the chassis has nt been damaged in anyway. STEP 2: FRONT HANDLE INSTALLATION Tw handles are shipped with the RACK-360G chassis. The handles are installed n the sides, at the frnt f the chassis. Each handle is secured t the chassis by fur retentin screws. T install the handles, please fllw the steps belw. Align the retentin screw hles n the side f the chassis with the retentin screw hles in the handle. Insert and fasten fur retentin screws fr each handle. Step 0: STEP 3: TOP COVER AND HOLD-DOWN CLAMP REMOVAL STEP 3.1:REMOVE THE TOP COVER The tp cver is secured t the chassis with six retentin screws, three n each side, f the chassis. Remve the screws and slide the cver tward the rear f the chassis. T remve the tp cver, please fllw the steps belw. Remve all six tp cver retentin screws. Remve three retentin screws frm each side f the chassis. Figure 3: Tp Cver Retentin Screws Slide the cver backwards and then lift it up gently. Step 0: Figure 4: Remve the Tp Cver STEP 3.2: HOLD-DOWN CLAMP REMOVAL Detach the hld-dwn clamp by remving the tw screws lcated n each side f the chassis and lift the hld-dwn clamp ff the chassis. 4 STEP 4: INSTALL THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT (PSU) Once the tp cver and hld-dwn clamp have been remved, a user supplied PSU must be installed. Cmpatible IEI PSUs are listed in the table belw. Mdel N. T install the PSU, please fllw the steps belw. Crrectly psitin the PSU at the rear f the chassis. Make sure the pwer switch and the cable scket bth face utwards. Once the PSU has been crrectly psitined, secure the PSU t the chassis by inserting tw retentin screws thrugh the side, and fur retentin screws thrugh the rear f the chassis. Step 0: T install the backplane please fllw the instructins belw. Insert the nine cpper pillars in the predrilled screw hles in the base f the chassis. Figure 7: Cpper Pillars Lcatins Figure 6: Insert PSU Retentin Screws STEP 5: BACKPLANE INSTALLATION The IEI backplanes listed belw are cmpatible with the RACK-360G chassis. Mdel N. Once the backplane is prperly aligned with the retentin screw hles, insert nine retentin screws t secure the backplane t the chassis.step 0: STEP 6: CPU CARD INSTALLATION T install the CPU card please fllw the instructins belw. 5 T install the drives, please fllw the steps utlined in the sectins belw. STEP 8.1: REMOVE THE SIDE BRACKET Befre any drives can be installed, the side bracket attached t the main drive bracket must be remved. T remve the side bracket, remve the tw retentin screws frm the tp f the side bracket that secure the side bracket t the main bracket. Figure 8: Remve the Slt Cver Retentin Screw Slide the CPU card int the scket n the backplane reserved fr the CPU card. (See Figure 9) Figure 9: Slide the CPU Card int the Sckets T secure the CPU card, reinsert the previusly remved slt cver retentin screw.step 0: STEP 7: PCI/ISA EXPANSION CARD INSTALLATION The RACK-360G supprts up t 14 PCI/ISA expansin cards and the RACK-360GATX variant supprts up t seven PCI/ISA expansin cards. T install an expansin card (PCI r ISA) please fllw the steps belw. Remve the slt cver at the back f the chassis. T d this, remve the slt cver retentin screw at the tp f the slt cver. Slide the PCI/ISA expansin card int reserved PCI/ISA scket n the backplane. T secure the PCI/ISA expansin card, reinsert the previusly remved slt cver retentin screw.step 0: STEP 8: DISK DRIVES INSTALLATION The RACK-360G chassis has tw drive brackets: ne main drive bracket and a side bracket. The main drive bracket supprts up t three 5.25 ptical drives r tw 5.25 drives and ne 3.5 drive (HDD r FDD). The side bracket nly supprts ne 3.5 FDD drive Figure 10 Remve the Side Bracket STEP 8.2: INSTALL 3.5"DRIVES INTO THE SIDE BRACKET The side bracket supprts ne 3.5 FDD. If yu want t install a 3.5 FDD drive int the side bracket, please fllw the steps belw. Remve the frnt flap frm the side bracket by remving the tw retentin screws that secure the frnt flap t the side bracket. Place a 3.5 FDD drive int the bracket. Make sure the FDD is upright and bth the IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectr and the 4-pin pwer cnnectr are facing the rear f the bracket. T secure the 3.5 FDD t the side bracket, insert fur retentin screws. Step 0: STEP 8.3: REMOVE THE MAIN DRIVE BRACKET If yu wish t install 5.25 ptical drives r mre than ne 3.5 drives (HDD r FDD), the main drive bracket must be remved. T remve the main drive bracket frm the chassis, fllw the steps belw. Remve the side bracket. See STEP 8.1: REMOVE THE SIDE BRACKET abve. 6 Figure 13: Remve the 3.5 Drive Tray Retentin Screws Figure 11: Remve the Fur Retentin Screws STEP 8.4: INSTALL DRIVES INTO THE MAIN DRIVE BRACKET The main drive bracket has three bays that can supprt: 3 x 5.25 Optical drives 2 x 5.25 Optical drives + 1 x 3.5 HDD 2 x 5.25 Optical drives + 1 x 3.5 FDD A 3.5 drive tray (HDD r FDD) is installed int the tp drive bay. The tw lwer drive bays are cvered with tw metal plates. The 3.5 drives (HDD r FDD) are always installed in the drive bracket in the tp drive bay. The 5.25 ptical drives can be installed in all three drive bays. When yu install drives int the main drive bracket, always install the 5.25 ptical drives int the tw lwer drive bays first. If yu want t install a 5.25 ptical drive int the main drive bracket, fllw the steps belw: Slide the 5.25 ptical drive int the selected drive bay. Make sure the drive is upright and the 4-pin pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectrs are at the rear f the drive bay. Secure the 5.25 ptical drive t the chassis by inserting fur retentin screws thrugh the sides f the main drive bracket and int the 5.25 drive. Tw retentin screws must be inserted int each side f the drive bracket.step 0: If yu are installing the 5.25 ptical drive int the lwer tw drive trays, remve the frnt metal cvers frm the drive bays by remving the fur retentin screws that secure the frnt metal plates t the main drive bracket. If yu are installing the 5.25 ptical drive int the tp drive bay, remve the 3.5 drive tray frm the main drive bracket. T d this, remve the fur retentin screws that secure the 3.5 drive tray t the main drive bracket and then slide the 3.5 drive tray ut f the main drive bracket. Figure 14: Install 5.25"Optical Drive Retentin Screws If yu want t install a 3.5 HDD drive int the main drive bracket, fllw the steps belw: Figure 12: Remve the Frnt Metal Cver Retentin Screws Remve the 3.5 drive tray frm the tp drive bay in the main drive bracket. T d this, remve the fur retentin screws that secure the 3.5 drive tray t the main drive bracket and then slide the 3.5 drive tray ut f the main drive bracket. Place 3.5 HDD int the drive bracket. Make sure the PCB n the 3.5 HDD is placed directly n the bttm surface f the drive bracket and the 4-pin HDD pwer cnnectr and IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectr are facing the rear. Secure the HDD t the drive bracket by inserting fur retentin screws (tw n each side) thrugh the sides f the drive bracket and int the HDD. RACK-360G QIG IEI Integratin Crp. Page 6

7 Step 7: Reinsert the fur previusly remved 3.5 drive tray retentin screws.step 0: STEP 8.5: REINSTALL THE DRIVE BRACKETS Once all the drives have been installed int the drive brackets, reinstall the drive brackets int the chassis. T reinstall the drive brackets int the chassis, please fllw the steps belw: Figure 15: Install a 3.5 Disk Drive int the Adapter Bracket Step 5: Reinsert the 3.5 drive tray, with the installed 3.5 HDD int the main drive bracket. Make sure that the 4-pin HDD pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectr are facing the rear and the drive is at the tp f the drive bracket. Reinsert the fur previusly remved 3.5 drive tray retentin screws.step 0: If yu want t install a 3.5 FDD drive int the main drive bracket, fllw the steps belw: Remve the 3.5 drive tray frm the tp drive bay in the main drive bracket. T d this, remve the fur retentin screws that secure the 3.5 drive tray t the main drive bracket and then slide the 3.5 drive tray ut f the main drive bracket. The frnt f the 3.5 drive tray is cvered with a detachable metal cver. Use yur fingers t push the detachable cver inwards until the cver snaps ff the 3.5 drive tray. Place the main drive bracket int the chassis making sure that the frnt f the 5.25 ptical drives are facing ut f the chassis and the 4-pin drive pwer cnnectrs and IDE/SATA interface cnnectrs are all facing the rear f the chassis. Reinsert the fur, previusly remved, main drive bracket retentin screws. Crrectly munt the side drive bracket nt the main drive bracket making sure the 4-pin FDD pwer cnnectr and IDE/SATA interface cnnectr bth face the rear f the chassis. Reinsert the tw, previusly remved, side bracket retentin screws int the tp f the side bracket. Step 0: STEP 9: FRONT PANEL CABLES The RACK-360G has the fllwing cmpnents accessible at the frnt: 1 x Pwer LED 1 x HDD activity LED 1 x Pwer switch 1 x Reset buttn 2 x USB prts 1 x PS/2 keybard/muse These cmpnents are all cnnected t the CPU card with cables. T crrectly cnnect these cables, please refer t the technical dcumentatin that came with yur CPU card. The cnnectrs that are prvided with the chassis are listed belw: N. 2 Name 1 USB cable Figure 16: Bend ff the frnt cver f the 3.5"drive bracket Step 5: Step 6: Place a 3.5 FDD drive int the bracket. Make sure the FDD is upright and bth the 4-pin FDD pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectr are facing the rear f the bracket. Make sure the PCB n the 3.5 FDD is placed directly n the bttm surface f the drive bracket and the 4-pin FDD pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectr are facing the rear. Secure the FDD t the drive bracket by inserting fur retentin screws (tw n each side) thrugh the sides f the drive bracket and int the HDD. Reinsert the 3.5 drive tray, with the installed 3.5 FDD int the main drive bracket. Make sure that the 4-pin FDD pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA drive interface cnnectr are facing the rear f the chassis and the FDD is at the tp f the drive bracket KB cable Pwer LED cable Reset Switch cable HDD LED cable RACK-360G QIG IEI Integratin Crp. STEP 10: PSU CABLE AND INTERFACE CABLE CONNECTIONS Befre yu reinstall the hld-dwn clamp and the cver, the fllwing cables need t be cnnected. PSU cables frm the PSU t the full-size CPU card, drives and the cling fan must be cnnected. The drive interface cnnectrs must be cnnected t the CPU card. Step 0: STEP 11: HOLD-DOWN CLAMP AND COVER REINSTALLATION After yu have cmpleted the abve prcedures, the hld-dwn clamp and cver can be reinstalled. T d this, align the screw hles n bth ends f the hld-dwn clamp with the screw hles n bth sides f the chassis and reinsert the fur previusly remved retentin screws. After that, slide the cver back ver the chassis and reinsert the six previusly remved retentin screws. CHASSIS MAINTENANCE Figure 18: Remve the Fan Retentin Screws Step 5: Step 6: Replace the fan and secure the new fan t the bracket with fur retentin screws. Slide the bracket back int the chassis and secure it t the chassis with the fur previusly remved retentin screws. Step 0: CABINET INSTALLATION Supprting rails, rack trays, r slide rails can be implemented using the munting hles n the sides f the chassis. The fur munting hles in the tw handles n the sides f the chassis are shwn belw. FAN REPLACEMENT NOTE: Please ensure that the pwer f the cmputer is switched ff befre yu replace a fan. There is ne 12 cm cling fan inside the RACK-360G chassis. T replace a fan, please fllw the steps belw. Remve the chassis cver. (Refer t STEP 3: TOP COVER AND HOLD-DOWN CLAMP REMOVAl) Unplug the pwer cable that is cnnected t the fan. Remve the tw retentin screws at the tp f the fan bracket. 9 FAN FILTER REPLACEMENT T replace the fan filter, please fllw the steps belw. Press the tab and pull the fan filter ut t the right.
