5 1 Design Overview BT111 develpment kit is targeted fr engineers evaluating BT111 Bluetth Smart Ready HCI mdule and develping r prttyping Bluetth Smart Ready systems utilizing BT111 mdule. BT111 Develpment Kit features: BT111 develpment bard including USB cnnectr Header fr direct current cnsumptin measurements Reset buttn Pwer n LED Header fr SPI interface fr setting the parameters thrugh SPI All I/Os and supply vltages expsed with 2.54 mm pitch fr cnnecting the kit n prttyping bard using a pin header Bluegiga n-bard installatin kit (SPI cable) Ribbn cable and an adapter PCB fr cnnecting the SPI with Bluegiga n-bard installatin kit BT111-A sample mdule Figure 1: DKBT111, SPI adapter and prgramming cable

7 2 Using DKBT111 fr the First Time As shwn in the Figure 3 in previus chapter, the SPI adapter bard is attached t the develpment bard. When yu start using DKBT111, it is imprtant t first break the adapter ff frm the develpment kit. This assures prper peratin f the chip antenna. Figure 4 shws the develpment kit with SPI adapter remved and attached t the n-bard installatin kit. The cnfiguratin and test tl suite BlueSuite can be dwnladed at the Bluegiga Tech Frum. Please restart yur cmputer after installing BlueSuite like the installer requests. The SPI transprt may nt wrk therwise. Figure 4: On-bard installatin kit cnnected t DKBT111

8 2.1 Cnfiguring PS keys ver SPI 1. Cnnect DKBT111 t the USB prt f a PC 2. Make sure the pwer LED turns n 3. Cnnect the SPI prgramming cable t the PC and t the SPI interface n the DKBT Open PSTl applicatin and select SPI as the transprt as shwn in the figure belw Figure 5: Chsing transprt Yu can nw mdify the PS-keys that are stred n BT111 s EEPROM. Figure 6: Changing the device friendly name Nte: D nt mdify the PS-keys unless yu are abslutely sure what the change will d r unless yu are advised t change a PS-key by Bluegiga.

9 2.2 Cnfiguring PS keys ver USB Because BT111 is recgnized as a generic Bluetth radi by the perating system, the OS will lad its wn Bluetth stack drivers fr the BT111. In rder t mdify the PS-keys via USB interface a special USB driver needs t be installed. In rder t install the USB driver, please d the fllwing steps: 1. Dwnlad the BT111 USB driver frm Tech Frum 2. Start Device Manager frm Windws Cntrl Panel 3. Right-click n the Generic Bluetth Adapter, then select Update Driver Sftware 4. Chse Brwse my cmputer fr driver sftware. 10 1. Click n Let me pick frm a list f device drivers n my cmputer, then click Have Disk 2. Select the lcatin where yu saved the BT111 USB drivers Figure 9: Install frm disk 1. Windws will warn that the driver is nt digitally signed; chse t install anyway. Figure 10. Installatin successful When the installatin cmpletes, BT111 will re-enumerate as a CSR BlueCre Bluetth, and can nw be accessed with PSTl sftware. In PStl Select USB as the transprt, the prt field will be autmatically filled with \\.\csr0. When yu wish t return t nrmal peratin, yu can repeat the prcedure t select a driver frm a list, but this time select the Micrsft Generic Bluetth Adapter driver.
