XO Stats: User Guide Monitor your circuit performance, troubleshoot, and plan future network capacity requirements

XO Stats is a web-based portal that allows you, an XO Communications data and Internet services customer, to monitor your circuit performance, troubleshoot, and plan future network capacity requirements. The tools available in XO Stats track your circuit traffic and generate graphs and reports to assist you in managing usage during hours of operation, monitor circuit utilization for troubleshooting purposes, or view latency and packet loss to ensure compliance with contractual Service Levels. How XO Stats Works XO Stats gathers all circuit information from networking devices used inside the XO network infrastructure. For data and Internet services: All information transfer is recorded from the XO Communications router to which the customer is assigned. All inbound and outbound traffic sent to and from the gateway IP of the customer s CPE is recorded by XO s network router and captured by XO Stats. This information is then displayed in a linear graph format based on the selected report period. The available report periods are daily, weekly and monthly. For dedicated hosting services: XO Stats records all inbound and outbound traffic from the switch and port assigned to the customer s server inside the data center. This data is then captured by XO Stats and displayed in a linear graph for viewing purposes Accessing XO Stats There are two ways to access the XO Stats portal: Log in to the XO Business Center ( with your Business Center User ID. For most XO data services customers, a User ID is automatically generated during the service installation process. You can also register for XO Business Center anytime by visiting and clicking on the Register Today button (you will need the account number from your XO invoice to complete your registration). If you need assistance registering for the XO Business Center, please contact XO Customer Care. Once logged into the XO Business Center, search for the desired location address or click on the location address under Most Viewed Locations. Then click on the Manage Services tab underneath the location address to display the product tools available for that location. To access XO Stats, click on the hyperlink labeled Usage Reporting (XO Stats). This will automatically log you into XO Stats so you can begin reviewing circuit information. All of the circuits for which access has been configured through the XO Business Center are displayed on this page. The Billing Account Number, Company Name, Address and Product Type information will be displayed for each circuit to help differentiate them one from another. The primary benefit of using the XO Business Center as the gateway into XO Stats is the ability to access all of your circuits via a single user ID, without having to remember individual login names and passwords for each of your circuits XO Communications, LLC. 3 The second method for accessing XO Stats is via XO Stats supports versions 4.0 and higher of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Enter your User Name and Password and click the Login button. User names are formatted depending on the XO service you have purchased: for DAF, DIA and IA customers, the user name will be the Network Name of their WAN IP block. Dedicated Hosting customers will be assigned their company name as it appears in the XO Communications systems as their username, in all capital letters. For either service, the default password is lowercase xoxo. It s strongly recommended that you reset the default password (for more information, see the Password Changes section below). Note: When accessing XO Stats directly through its own webpage address, you will need to remember multiple combinations of user names and passwords in order to view various circuits. This is why the XO Business Center is the preferred method for accessing XO Stats. Password Changes Once you have logged into XO Stats, it is recommended that you change the default password to a more unique and secure one. To reset the password, click on the My Profile tab located on navigation bar of XO Stats and shown in the adjacent image. The Change Password link takes you to another screen where you are asked to provide the current password and the new password. The current password should be entered into the field labeled Old Password. It is recommended that the users select a new password consisting of at least 6 characters, one of which should be numeric. Note: Both username and password are case sensitive. Enter the new password into the field labeled New Password and then again into the Re-Type Password field; then click on the Change Password button. You will see a confirmation that your password has been changed successfully. You will not need to log out of the system. This change takes effect immediately and will be available on next login XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 3

XO Stats Home Page The XO Stats home page is displayed upon entry into the tool. You can access other areas of XO Stats using the navigation menu at the top. While on the home page, customers with one (or very few) circuits configured within XO Stats will see a table similar to the one shown below. You can use this information to determine the specific circuit about which you would like more information. Click on one of the following links to view more information: 1. Usage: Displays a graph indicating the level of circuit utilization. 2. Availability: Displays a graph indicating the availability (uptime vs. downtime) of the circuit 3. Error: Displays a graph reporting the error rate, if any, on the circuit during the reporting interval. 4. Discards: Displays a graph reporting packet discard errors. 5. XOflow: Opens the XOflow home page. XOflow monitoring is enabled on the routers and the traffic passing through is sampled. Sampling the data gives users a higher level view of the kind of traffic being passed without degrading router performance. The XOflow hyperlink appears only if the circuit is set up to have XOflow reporting. 6. Customer/Site: Allows you to modify the default site name if you wish the report to display a different name. Note: The graphs are displayed in the Central Time Zone. Not all options may appear for all circuit types. If you have multiple circuits associated with the same User ID, the home page will not display the previously mentioned table but instead will show the below search options. This allows you to specify a circuit instead of sorting through a long list of circuits. To view the entire list of circuits available, click on the View All button XO Communications, LLC. 5 Line Graphs The XO Stats tool records circuit statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. This information is then displayed in a Line Graph based on a linear scale. These graphs are auto-scaled according to the range of output. Auto-scaled means the graph automatically adjusts to meaningfully reflect the amount of data shown on each graph. The Usage, Availability, Error and Discard graphs all resemble one another. For this reason, this guide does not cover each option individually, but groups them together. The output of each graph will display data information labeled as Input, Input 95Peak, Output, and Output 95Peak. Input: Input is read as data that flows into a connection. Since the tool reads from XO network devices, input represents the data sent out from the customer s LAN/server. Input is represented by a solid green line. Input 95Peak: Input 95Peak represents the highest 95th percentile of data sent for the given time period. This data will fluctuate as the time graphed period changes from daily, weekly and monthly. Input 95Peak is represented by a straight black line. Output: Output is read as data that flows out of a connection. Since the tool reads from XO network devices, output represents the data going toward the customer s LAN/server. Output is represented by a solid blue line. Output 95Peak: Output 95Peak represents the highest 95th percentile of data sent for the given time period. This data will fluctuate as the time period graphed changes form daily, weekly, and monthly. Output 95Peak is represented by a straight blue line. Kbits per Second: Kbits Per Second bar represents the throughput for the customer s circuit in Kilobits and is located on the left-hand side of the linear graph in the XO Stats tool. This bar fluctuates based on the volume of traffic on the customer s circuit/port. Peak hours will show a higher Kilobit rate. If you are having trouble converting Kilobits into the industry-accepted Kilobytes, you can locate reference material on the Internet for converting bits to bytes (there are several sites dedicated to this conversion and some offer automated utilities/calculators). Note: Below the linear graph, there is a link labeled Convert from Kbps to Mbps. This should be used only for the highest capacity circuits. On smaller circuits it will drop the scale to unreadable level. Time Line Bar: The Time Line Bar located at the bottom of the graph provides the time metric based on the report period chosen by you (daily, weekly, or monthly). By default, XO Stats will display a day graph for the current day of the week. Day graphs will display 24 hours of reporting detail in two-hour increments. If you choose to graph usage by week, the graph will show the days of the week formatted as month/day. (For example, if you want to graph the week of July 7 to July 14, the Time Line Bar will display it as 7/7, 7/8, 7/9, 7/10, etc). If graphing a whole month, the Time Line Bar will display all days of the month XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 5

Downloading CSV Files XO Stats allows users to download a comma separated value (CSV) file from the reporting period linear graph. This feature is available for all reporting periods: daily, weekly, and monthly. The purpose of this feature is to place all reporting numbers into an easy-to-read format to be used with any spreadsheet application. To begin the download, click on the hyperlink labeled Download this data as CSV located below the linear graph. Once the download is complete, the file will display several pieces of information related to the reporting period, beginning with date and time. The date and time can be listed as a whole day, a week, or a month, depending on the linear graph from which the CSV file was generated and downloaded. The second is incoming kilobits, shown in the CSV file as inkbits. These bits represent the traffic travelling away from the customer s LAN/server and through XO networking devices. The third and final piece of information detailed is the outgoing kilobits, listed in the CSV file as outkbits. The outkbits represent the traffic travelling into your LAN/ server via the XO networking device you are sharing on the remote network side of your Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). Average Circuit Information Table Just below the linear graph is a table that provides a quick synopsis of circuit information. This table shows information for the current reporting period. Also shown is the average and 95 peak usage for input and output traffic from and to the XO Core router to which you are connected. All traffic information is displayed in Kbps. Note: This average information table is only displayed when viewing the Circuit Utilization (Usage) report. Monthly, Weekly, and Daily Graph Table Also found below the linear graph, this table provides you with the ability to graph traffic information to and from the XO Core router in monthly, weekly and daily formats. To review this type of graph, click on the various hyperlinks provided in this table: To Graph a Day Click on the calendar date for the desired day. To Graph a Week Click on the week link on the left (labeled week) to graph the entire week. To Graph a Month Click on the name of the month to view an entire month of data XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 6

Service Level Report The Service Level Report tab in the top navigation bar allows users to view XO Communications compliancy against latency and packet throughput. The Service Level Report displays a scorecard that averages out the current month s network transfer and displays whether XO Communications complies with its contract obligations. When the Service Level Report hyperlink is clicked, users are taken to their scorecard (shown above). If XO is within its contractual obligation, the scorecard will be in Compliant status. If XO is not within its contractual obligations, the scorecard will state Non- Compliant. If a non-compliant status is reported, you must call XO Customer Care within five days after the end of the full reporting month. A full reporting month is 30 to 31 days from the first day of the month XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 7

Other features of the scorecard include: Latency: This field reports the time it takes for data to travel over XO Communications network from your network. The two metrics shown are Actual and Contracted. Actual will display the time data is actually travelling over XO Communications network. Contracted will always display the contractual obligation of 65 milliseconds average or less. The Latency text doubles as a hyperlink. When clicked, it will take users to a Line graph displaying the throughput against the 65 millisecond average. Latency milliseconds represented by green line. Packet Loss: This field displays a percentage of packet loss against all traffic during the reporting period. Packet Loss attributes to the latency of a circuit. It is reported solely as a value-added feature and has no bearing on a Service Level Agreement contained in the customer contract. The Packet Loss text doubles as a hyperlink, when clicked it will take the user to a Line graph displaying the packet success rate average for reporting period. The packet success rate is represented by blue line. Jitter: Jitter is a measure of how much a ping varies over a period of time. Lower jitter is better because it means your pings and connection are more stable. It is reported solely as a value-added feature and has no bearing on a Service Level Agreement contained in the customer contract. The Jitter text doubles as a hyperlink, when clicked it will take the user to a Line graph displaying the jitter average for reporting period. Customer Contact Information: This field holds the customer s User Profile address. Diagnostic Tools The Diagnostic Tools page allows users to test the XO network from within the XO Core router. Four tests are available, including Traceroute, PING, BGP route and Bandwidth Meter. Traceroute Test The Traceroute test displays XO Network route information from the multiple XO Core routers to which you are connected. To perform this test, select an XO Core router from the Core Node drop-down menu and then enter the public IP address you want to test in the Destination field. Once this information is entered, click on the Get Results button. The output of this test will be displayed in the Results window provided on the Traceroute page. PING Test The PING test available in XO Stats displays XO Network route information from the multiple XO Core routers to which you are connected. 11 Sign Out The Sign Out button, found in the top right corner, allows users to log out of the tool. This security feature protects the customer proprietary circuit information from being visible to anyone who might be sharing the same computer. For each remote browser session created in the XO Stats tool, a sign-out will be required so that the tool knows that any request coming from the same machine needs to authenticated prior to access. Anytime a sign-out is executed from XO Stats, a confirmation page will appear to notify the user that the session being terminated. XOflow XOflow is defined as a unidirectional sequence of packets with some common properties that pass through a network device. These collected flows are exported to an external device, the Flow collector. Network flows are highly granular and include details such as IP addresses, packet and byte counts, timestamps, application ports, input and output interfaces, etc. To use this reporting, XOflow monitoring is enabled on the routers and then XOflow is sampled. Sampled XOflow data is then collected and reported on at a specific packet interval. This sampling gives you a higher level view of the kind of traffic being passed without degrading router performance. To access the XOflow reporting, locate the desired circuit on the XO Stats home page. This can be done by clicking the View All button or by entering search criteria to find a specific circuit. Once you locate the circuit, click on the associated XOflow link (shown below). From the XOflow main page, you can choose between several options: Application Bandwidth Usage -- XOflow stats are used to identify which applications are being used and what percentage of the total bandwidth those applications are using. Top User and Top App -- This report will show the current Top Users and Top Applications over your network connection. Custom Detailed Reporting -- This detailed report allows you to see even more details of bandwidth usage during a given time period. This feature will be helpful for use in troubleshooting or identifying the type of data going across the network. Additional XOflow notes: XO Stats will only collect XOflow data from specified network equipment. Use of other devices will limit the statistics available via XOflow. XOflow statistics are captured for both egress and ingress packets separately. In some reports, this information is summarized for both directions. If a port is being used by the customer, but is not numbered, XO Stats cannot determine the application using the bandwidth. In this case, the usage in any reporting will be labeled as Unknown. For multi-t1 services (NxT1), the XOflow reporting is provided per individual T XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 11

Application Bandwidth Usage When selecting to view the Application Bandwidth Usage, a graph similar to this one is generated for the current day. The various types of traffic are separated by colors with a key listed at the bottom of the chart. The vertical axis represents the Application Percentage and the horizontal provides timestamps throughout the reporting period. As with other graphs in XO Stats, this graph is also autoscaled according to the range of output. Auto-scaled means the graph automatically adjusts to meaningfully reflect the amount of data shown on each graph. XO Stats takes the maximum usage over the circuit, labels that as 100% and then graphs the remaining values accordingly. This is done so that the data transfer over the circuit can be seen regardless of how much bandwidth is actually in use versus what is technically available. For more detailed information on the overall use of the circuit, refer to the Usage report. This graph can become difficult to read when multiple protocols are being measured and reported. To see specific values within this graph, mouse over any point on the graph. When doing so, a hover box will open reflecting the data value at that point in the chart. Additionally, a table will appear below the graph displaying the time and percent of circuit utilized at that data point. This information can be downloaded in a comma separated value (CSV) file. You can also adjust the reporting period using the calendar-style table found at the bottom of the display. For more information on both of these functions, refer to the Line Graph section of this module. Notes: Systems will retrieve and process data from the XO Network routers every 15 minutes. The XOflow data is considered near-real time. The newest data is minutes old before it can be viewed online. From the current date, the percent usage per application will be stored for four months for 15-minute interval data and for six months for the 60-minute interval data XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 12

Top User and Top App This report will show the current Top Users and Top Applications over the network connection. To begin, click on the Top User and Top App link from the XOflow home page, then specify the reporting period using the Start Date and End Date fields (shown below). Before executing the report, you can also choose to have the output displayed in the web browser (HTML) or downloaded to your computer as a CSV file. Both options provide the same data. Enter the date using the mm/dd/yyyy format and click on the Search button to execute the report. The report results are displayed in 15-minute intervals. The timestamps are displayed along the left margin of the report. For each 15-minute interval during the reporting period, XOflow displays the top five IP Addresses / ports based on the percentage of bandwidth used by that IP Address / port. In addition to the timestamp, the displayed data includes the IP Address (IP), Port Number (Port) and Percent Usage of that IP / Port (Pct) for the top five users. This report includes sample data. As mentioned above, you can export this information to your computer as a CSV file. Here is an example of the CSV file opened in Microsoft Excel: 2013 XO Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 13
