Connect computers wirelessly via PAN, LAP, SPP or FTP. Print documents wirelessly to Bluetooth printer. 3. How to use BlueSoleil to access Internet? There are several ways to access Internet using BlueSoleil: DUN profile: You can access Internet via Bluetooth mobile phone. Use PAN bridge, you can access LAN. And you can access Internet if the LAN connected Internet. Use ICS and PAN profile, you can act as a Gateway so that provide others to access Internet. You can use LAP profile to access Internet. For more details, please refer to getting started in BlueSoleil Online Help or User Manual. 4. How to share my Internet connection to other computers via Bluetooth? If you use PAN service to access Internet, you can use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). On the other hand, you can use LAP to access Internet. However, for the reason of technical, it cannot support a computer to be a "TCP/IP Gateway" with PAN whose IP address is " x" now. We will solve this problem in the next version. For your convenience, please use some Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) software such as "Winroute Pro", "Sygate", BlueNAT and "Internet Gateway 6.0" to solve this problem. For more details, please refer to related document in the Online help or User Manual.

5. How to share my folders to other computers? Using PAN and LAP profile When other computers connect to you computer via PAN or LAP, your shared folders in windows explorer can be accessed by other computers in the windows My Network Places. Using FTP profile Share your folder via your FTP service to other Bluetooth devices. Service Configuration File Transfer property page -> Share this Folder. Figure 1 Set default FTP share folder 6. How to verify whether my computer is connected to network and know IP address? When connecting using PAN and LAP, If you are able to see the IP address in the status bar of BlueSoleil, it at least indicate the client and server is trying to connect with each other. However, you can use some network command such as Ping to verify the validation of IP address. For exampe, you can run "ipconfig" or "ping [ipaddress you want to verify]" in the command prompt to verify it.

7. How much incoming connections can my services support? BlueSoleil includes nine Bluetooth profiles. The following table indicates which of these profiles is available for client and server devices. Profile Description Connections Server PAN Personal Area Networking 7 1 SPP Serial Port 4 2 DUN Dial-Up Networking 1 LAP LAN Access 1 1 FTP File Transfer 1 1 HID Human Interface Device 1 or more HCRP Hardcopy Cable Object Push 1 OPP 1 1 SYNC Synchronization 1 1 FAX Fax 1 AV 1 1 Headset 1 1 Headset and AV profile are not supported on Windows 98SE or Windows ME As the above graph, if you use PAN profile, BlueSoleil can support 7 connections at the same time. For other profiles, only one connection can you have at one time. Moreover, you can start one connection for each profile at one time. 8. How to stop the paired device accessing my services any more? Delete the paired relationship by deleting the device in the Pairing Property sheet in the Security Configuration dialog box. Change the fixed passkey if you use fixed passkey option, so that he cannot pair with your computer again. Figure 2 Security Configuration Dialog

9. After I set security level to High, the Bluetooth Passkey Input dialog often comes out when other people browse my computer, how can I avoid that? Use fixed passkey to avoid it. 10. How to protect my services from other s unauthorized usage? Set Security Level to High. Do not start the services you are not using. If you start PAN or LAP service, do not share your important folders in the windows explorer. When other Bluetooth computers connect to your computer via PAN or LAP, your shared windows folder will be able to be accessed to other computers. 11. Cannot start my Bluetooth? When the program starts, the local device address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. Please check whether you have properly plug-in your Bluetooth USB dongle or Bluetooth UART device and whether the UART device is powered up. Make sure that all related configuration is carried out according to Online Help or User Manual. Restart you BlueSoleil. 12. Why I need wait for about 40 seconds the first time using My Bluetooth? When the BlueSoleil program starts the first time, the PAN profile will try to configure the network settings. It will take about 40 second. This situation will also occur if users change the local Bluetooth device. 13. How can I find my Bluetooth device information? Right click my device -> Select Properties. In the My Bluetooth Device dialog box, there are device name, device address, device manufacturer, device HCI and LMP (Link Manager Protocol) versions and editions. 14. What is my Bluetooth device name, and how to change it? My Bluetooth device name is the name of USB dongle inserted to my computer. It is your Bluetooth identifier and will be shown to other Bluetooth devices. You can change it in the My Bluetooth Device dialog box by modifying Device Name in the General Property sheet.

Figure 3 right click My Device and select Properties Figure 4 My Bluetooth Device dialog 15. Can't find the remote device you want? Please check the following items: Check whether the remote device is in discoverable mode. If the remote device is set to non-discoverable, other devices cannot find it.

Check whether the remote device is within the radio range. Bluetooth devices have 3 classes. Class 1 devices are high power devices. Their transmission ranges are 50 to 100 meters. Class 2 and class 3 devices are low power devices. Their transmission range are meters. If you still cannot find the remote device, you can: (1) Find the device from the history list, so that you can add it directly to the orbit. Find the tool from Tools Add Device from History... (2) If the device is not in the history list, you can also add a new device directly by inputting the remote device address. Find the tool from Tools Add New Device... Figure 5 click Tools Add Device from History... Figure 6 History dialog

16. Can't find the remote device services? To check the following items: Verify whether the remote device is within the radio range. Verify that whether the remote device is in connectable mode. If the remote device is set to non-connectable, other devices cannot connect to it, and service cannot be found. Check whether the remote device has connections already. Currently, some Bluetooth devices do not support scatter net. That is, the device has limitations in supporting connection among multi-devices at the same time. It is recommended that users try to connect point to point if the connection cannot be set up. Verify whether both sides have input the right Bluetooth passkey if any side is at security level High. The Bluetooth passkey must be the same at both sides. If both sides have set Fixed Passkey (the default passkey) and the passkeys are different, the connection cannot be set up with the authentication failure error. 17. How Bluetooth passkey works? If I change the fixed passkey, will it affect the paired devices? Bluetooth passkey is used in authentication procedure for Bluetooth security purpose. When remote device connects to your computer, he has to offer the same Bluetooth passkey as what you input. If the Bluetooth passkeys from two sides are same, connection can be setup. A paired relationship is established on both sides. There is no need to input passkey for the next time of connection. Any side can delete the paired relationship. Changing fixed passkey will not affect the existed paired relationship. 18. Why my PAN, LAP or FTP data transfer rate is slow? There are mainly two factors for this problem. Firstly, the distance of two Bluetooth devices can affect the data transfer rate. Secondly, the quality of USB dongle is also a factor. Moreover, the disturbing of other devices may be a factor. Please see the RSSI for more details. 19. Why does the "Browsing service" always fail without any warning? If the server doesn't support Security and the BlueSoleil sets to security to High, the Browsing service will fail. If the server does support Security, make sure to input the right passkey. 20. If I have not installed my network adapter on my Windows system, can I install BlueSoleil successfully? Before you install BlueSoleil, make sure you have installed your network adapter drivers successfully, for the mismatched drivers may lead to the error for installing BlueSoleil. 21. HID device can't initiate connection after leaving it unused until auto-disconnected. It is related the dongle s firmware version. CSR, LMP version, 0x20D, ok. 0x86, cannot connect the second connection.

22. Why does the "Browsing service" always fail without any warning? If the server doesn"t support Security and the BlueSoleil sets to security mode 3, the Browsing service will fail. If the server does support Security, make sure to enter the right pin code 23. Why I can't listen CD with BlueSoleil AV? When playing CD with cd-rom, it s possible that the music can t be listened from Bluetooth AV headphone. User can do as following to fix it: Set Bluelet Audio as the default Playback Device Select Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio -> Sound Playback -> Default Device, set the Default Device as Bluelet Audio, and then Click OK. Set Digital CD Playback Select Start ->- Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Hardware -> CD-ROM -> Properties -> Digital CD Playback, check the checkbox Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device. After that, restart the media player software to play CD. 24. Why most characters of dialog display "??????" when I install bluesoleil? For the region and language setting of your operating system is not uniform. Open "control panel" and click "regional options" to open regional and language setting dialog (On winxp, click "regional and language options"), and then do the operations as following: Check "language setting for the system" list to make sure the language your favorite has been check; Click "Set default" to select your favorite language from the list, and then click "ok"; Select the location correspond to the language you choose from "Your Locale", such as if language is Simplified-Chinese, the location should be China(PRC), click "ok"; If the language has not installed in your system, the windows installation CD should be needed; after installation, restart your system. Note: If your language can t be supported by BlueSoleil, the problem will not be solved. For the language supported information of BlueSoleil, please refer to bluesoleil User Manual and Online help to get more information about it. (Refer to corresponding help documents of windows to get more about regional setting.) 25. Why there are always so many warning pop up to let me choose "yes" or "no" when I install bluesoleil? The possible reason is that you choose "no" on the "Microsoft device digital sign warning" dialog which come out at the beginning of bluesoleil installation. Do either of the following two methods to solve the problem: Only click "yes", "next", "ok" or "finish" during the installation of bluesoleil;

Use mouse right click "my computer", choose " properties", on the "system properties" dialog tab choose "hardware", click "Driver signing"; on the pop-up "Driver Signing Options" dialog, choose "Ignore-Install all files, regardless or file signature", click "ok" to close the dialog and take it effect, and click "ok" to shut "system properties" dialog. 26. I run LAN Access of BlueSoleil, why get the same IP address on both sides? It"s a bug of Windows. User should set up Incoming Connection properties on LAP server side. For more configuration information, please refer to BlueSoleil onlinehelp Getting Started LAP section. 27. Where are the pictures in the computer I use BlueSoleil' BIP to send? If BlueSoleil connect to Bluetooth digital camera, the default save directory is "x:\my Documents\My Pictures..."; If Bluetooth digital camera connect to BlueSoleil, the default save directory is "x:\my Documents\Bluetooth\Bip\DCIM...". Note:"x" is your system volumn, and above two directories can be changed manually, please refer to BlueSoleil Onlinehelp Getting Started BIP section to get more details. 28. What the message "Checking license failed, Please use proper Bluetooth device" means? It s the license-checking failed message. There is a licensed Bluetooth hardware address list in BlueSoleil. When user start the software, above all, BlueSoleil will get the address of the local device and compare it with the list. If it s not included in the list, BlueSoleil will send this message to notify user license-checking failed, and auto-change to the Evaluation version mode. So you can also find a title "Evaluation (5MB data only)" on the top of BlueSoleil main window. The all functions of BlueSoleil will be invalid when transferred data limit has reached 5MB. Restart BlueSoleil can enjoy next 5MB. Our product is sold with a licensed Bluetooth device, so our formal user won t meet the problem. If you are really in this trouble, please contact us with support@bluesoleil.com to get further technique support. Note: We don t supply the license-created service to individual user temporarily. 29. Why I can't use BlueSoleil to send contacts or images to my Bluetooth mobile phone? Please make sure three things: whether your Bluetooth mobile phone supports the function of profile FTP or OPP. Refer to your mobile user manual to get more related information. Whether your Bluetooth mobile phone memory is full. Whether your Bluetooth mobile phone can identify the contacts or images file names and formats. If not, change file names in English or transform your files format to another, and then retry.

Personal Area Neworking 1. Why does new TCP/IP configuration not go into effect after I change the TCP/IP configuration of the BT network adapter? When PAN server is not started or PAN client doesn t connect to a server, the status of BT network adapter is Network cable unplugged. If you change the TCP/IP configuration of the BT network adapter under this case, the Windows notices you that you have to restart the computer. If you don t restart the computer, the change can t go into effect in fact. Figure 8 Network cable unplugged On Windows2k or Windows XP, after PAN server is started or PAN client connects to a server, the status of the BT network adapter is Network cable plugged, If you change the TCP/IP configuration of the BT adapter under this case, the Windows doesn t notice you to restart the computer and the change can go into effect without restarting the computer. On Windows 98 or Windows ME, whenever you change the configuration of TCP/IP configuration, the computer needs to restart. Figure 9 Network cable plugged So, if the Windows notices you restart the computer, please restart the computer, or the new TCP/IP configuration doesn t go into effect. 2. Why my PAN service is stopped automatically? We can only act as one of the role of PAN client or server at the same time. Therefore, when you connect other PAN service and your PAN service will be stopped automatically. 3. What should I do if it is slow to use explorer to browse neighbor computers on Windows SE/Me? We found this case in some user s computer. Instead, you can use other Bluetooth profiles such as LAP and SPP to meet your requirement. 4. If I have configured my PAN NAP, what my BlueSoleil can do? We can configure our PAN NAP device name and passkey, so anyone who do not know the passkey can not use it. If we choose NAP mode, the NAP works as a Hub and we can only access the LAN formed by the users who have connected to the PAN NAP. If we choose NAT mode, our PAN NAP works as a router and we can access Internet through it.

5. Why my BlueSoleil always "Assign IP address" when others connect to my PAN service? Please make sure the both sides of connection never specify the same IP addresses of Bluetooth network adapter. If they are, we consumingly recommend user check "Obtain an IP address automatically" in Bluetooth network adapter TCP/IP properties configuration to let either side of PAN connection abtains the IP address automatically without any manual setting. 6. Why my file transmission speed is not stable via BlueSoleil's PAN service? There are two possible reasons: If your PAN transmission speed is usually unstable, it is likely because your bluetooth hardware s firmware should be upgrade. A good idea is to get in touch with your hardware provider for more service or buy a higher version firmware bluetooth hardware. If the phenomena happen infrequently, the course should be that some other operation such as inquiry bluetooth device is being done around so that your PAN transmission is influenced. In general, there is little influence among bluetooth devices except inquiry devices, and it can t take great effect to usage in total for its temporality. 7. Can't fresh device on a BlueSoleil PAN client? If the operation can t be performed successfully, the most possible reason is your Bluetooth hardware firmware version is too low. You can contact your Bluetooth hardware provider for this upgrade. 8. In my PAN network group, why one computer always can't be accessed, but it can access any others? Check whether anti-virus or Internet firewall software installed on the inaccessible side. Some anti-virus software with firewall can forbid others to access your PC, close it or adjust its security level lower will make it accessible. If still unfixed, please refer to the user manual of your anti-virus software. If Windows XP service pack 2 has been installed in your unaccessible computer, or its platform is Windows XP Home Edition, you may have two methods to solve it: If the former, you can set your ICS(Internet Connection Firewall) level to low, or stop the ICS service in Windows Computer Management without further ado. The Computer Management can be opened by clicking the Administrative Tools in Control Panel. If the latter, you can do as the following : Right click My Network Places, select Properties; in Network Tasks, click Set up a home or small office network to open Network Setup Wizard, and then follow the steps of the wizard to set up a network for BT network adapter(it s the virtual hardware installed by BlueSoleil for PAN profile.). After the wizard accomplished, your unaccessible computer will be able to be accessed by others in this PAN connection.

LAN Access Service 1. Can you provide me with some troubleshooting tips on configuring LAN access on the PC side? Before using the LAN Access Profile in Windows98/Me, ensure that a Dial-up Adapter and Windows s component direct cable are already installed on the computer. Moreover, every operating system should have an installation of NetBEUI protocol; otherwise, it cannot use computer name to visit other computer. For more details, please refer to FAQs as the following in the Online Help or User Manual: 1. How to check if Dial-up Adapter installed in Windows98SE/ME? 2. How to check if Windows component Direct Cable Connection is installed in Windows 98SE/ME? 3. How to configure LAP server in Windows 98SE/ Me? 4. How to setup LAP connection from Win2K to Windows 98SE/Me? 2. Why do I get PPP authentication error when I tried using Palm to connect to Win98SE/ME LAN access? Currently, BlueSoleil cannot support this LAP application with palm in Win98SE/ME. 3. Why I cannot use LAP service in Windows 98SE? Please check the following items: 1. Check if the LAP is well configured. 2. If you setup a direct cable connection before starting LAP, please reset the port to LAP service port. Or more easily, delete this direct cable connection before start LAP service. 4. I run LAN Access of BlueSoleil, why get the same IP address on both sides? It s a bug of Windows. User should set up Incoming Connection properties on LAP server side. For more configuration information, please refer to BlueSoleil online help Getting Started LAP section. 5. If it fails to connect LAP, why it can't reconnect it as it shows that the SPP connection is maintained in the client? If it fails to connect LAP, it shows that dialing fails and the SPP connection is maintained in the client.but,in fact, the SPP will disconnect automatically in the server, so you can t reconnect LAP unless reconnecting the SPP.

Dial-Up Networking Service 1. Why I cannot connect to internet using GPRS DUN, although the connection is set up successfully? Make sure you input correct CID. The CID can be found in the setting of GPRS in your mobile phone. Make sure you use an efficient DNS server. Please change DNS in the BlueSoleil DUN connection property dialog. Make sure the radio signal is strong enough. 2. Why I cannot Dial-Up on Windows Me? Please make sure that your system have been installed Dial-Up Adapter. More details please refer to getting started in BlueSoleil Online Help or User Manual. File Transfer Service 1. Can t run two FTP clients on one PC? Running two FTP clients on a single PC simultaneously is not supported. If you want to connect with another device, you should guarantee the first FTP connection is disconnected in advance by closing the FTP client window. 2. Destination directory gives no response while pulling files? In Windows 2000 and Windows 98 platform, when files or folders are pulled from the FTP server to the specified local window, the destination window will be deadlock until the pulling process is over.

Information Synchronization Service 1. Why not I can use ActiveSync application in Windows XP? In some cases, the default serial port setting of ActiveSync is between COM3 and COM6. But these ports are occupied by other applications such as Internal Modem, IR Modem and so on. Therefore, BlueSoleil cannot use these COM ports any more so that can not set up connect between ActiveSync and your Bluetooth devices. To solve this problem, there are at least two ways: Go to "Control Panel", then "Phone and modem setting", remove those settings of COM ports, and then reinstall BlueSoleil again. Set the serial port setting of ActiveSync to other ports that BlueSoleil have installed. 2. Why BlueSoleil can't synchronize all my contacts? The total number of contacts BlueSoleil can synchronize is no more than 512. It roots in the original design of BlueSoleil. Object Push Service 1. How to change my default Business Card? When user starts OPP service the first time, BlueSoleil will create default Business Card using user s computer name in the folder of <Current user>\my documents\bluesoleil\output. To change my Business Card, please: Use the File Export in the Address Book of Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook to export user s Business Card in *.VCF format. Change the default Business Card in Service Configuration Object Push property page -> <Name card Edit>. Figure 7 Change default Business Card

Printer Service 1. Why does the printer always show "Waiting..." after printing a document? Some printers will always show Waiting when the connection between the computer and the printer hasn t been removed. Disconnect with the printer, it will change to ready. 2. How does the BlueSoleil select printer if user installs two specified printer driver? The BlueSoleil will force setting the first installed printer driver as the Bluetooth printer driver and setting its port to "COMX". Also, it will show balloon text indicating which printer will be used as Bluetooth printer. Fax Service 1. Why I cannot use my mobile phone to send Fax? Please make sure your mobile service provides Fax service. Moreover, please make sure the radio signal of your mobile is strong enough. 2. How to use Fax2000 to send Fax? Fax2000 is one of the easy to use software to send Fax. After installing Fax2000, please open its main window and make sure that the current FaxModem settings is Bluelet Fax Modem. Then, send Fax as the normal use.

Figure 8 Click Settings and make sure the current FaxModem is Bluelet Fax Modem

Known Issues Installation On Win98SE, if network is never installed on the computer, windows system will ask for a file from win98se setup disk during installation. If users cancel the operation, the installation will fail to install the BT network adapter, which is used for PAN as well as the virtual serial port for SPP, DUN, LAP and HCRP etc. Users cannot skip this procedure! Some software can only use com ports lower than COM10. During BlueSoleil installation, Bluetooth serial ports will be installed as low as possible. Normally, it will be COM3: HCRP(client), COM4-5: SPP(client), COM6-7: SPP(server), COM8-9: SPP(client), COM10: DUN(client), COM11: LAP(client), COM12: LAP(server), COM13: FAX(client). If other software has occupied the lower com ports, BlueSoleil will not be installed on the lower ports. It may bring inconvenience to the usage of the software that need serial ports lower than COM8. Please just make sure install BlueSoleil first in this case. FTP When uploading a file is cancelled, the unfinished file remains at the server side. On Windows 2000, when downloading files, the destination folder s window message process will be stopped temporarily. After the data transfer is finished, it will recover. LAP On Windows XP, the client cannot browse other computers in the LAN connected to the LAP server via computer name. Users can use PAN instead in this case. On Windows98Se/ME, it is not easy for end-user to properly configure the parameters to set up a good connection. It is not suggested to use LAP on these two platforms. PAN will have better performance instead. OPP&SYNC Since Bluetooth profile does not define how to transfer the attachment of e-message, synchronization cannot pass the attachment of an from outlook to outlook. s with pictures cannot also be passed correctly. When synchronize with MS Office XP Outlook, a dialog will appear to let user to select whether to accept the data access. If users choose No, operation will break while cards can be imported into Outlook. Headset User should first establish the Bluetooth audio connection between Headset and Audio Gateway, and then play music, record sound or chatting. Otherwise the audio may stream to local sound card. To use Headset profile on WinXP, it s necessary to install service pack1. The Headset and AV Headphone Profiles do not work on Windows 98SE or Windows Me. Only one Headset or AV Headphone connection can exist at a time, since there is only one virtual Bluetooth audio device. AV Users should first establish the Bluetooth AV stream between two streaming device, then open media players. Otherwise the audio may stream to physical sound card. When playing CD on some computers, there may be some glitches. Please Download and update the latest DirectSound on Microsoft website. Then it will work well.
