Before you start Before you use your Nokia mobile phone with your wireless hub, confirm that: Your mobile phone is supported by PC Suite version 6.3 or higher. Only Nokia mobile phones supported by PC Suite 6.3 or higher are covered in this guide. To check, visit the Nokia web site at You have installed your Logitech product, the SetPoint software, and Easy Synchronization. As part of the SetPoint installation the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software (stack) is installed. Most versions of the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack are supported; details of compatible versions are listed in the installation guide, provided at This guide assumes that you are using the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software (stack) rather than a different manufacturer s stack; if you prefer to use a different stack refer to the manufacturer s help system for instructions. You are using the Bluetooth wireless hub supplied with your Logitech product or you have an equivalent configuration see for details. You have installed the PC Suite software, version 6.3 or higher, for your mobile phone. (Refer to the CD that came with your mobile phone for more information.) If this PC suite software isn t installed on your computer, you won t be able to access most of the features described in this guide. This software is usually available on the web site of your mobile phone manufacturer ( provides some links). This guide contains all the information you need to connect and start using your Nokia mobile phone. If you need further information, additional sources are available: provides general information about the Bluetooth technology. explains how to install Logitech devices and software. provides a product compatibility matrix which lists the products that have been tested and approved for use with the Logitech wireless hub. Connecting your Nokia mobile phone This section describes how to connect using the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack. However, if you are using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 and prefer to use its built-in Microsoft stack, refer to the Windows Help and Support Center for connection instructions. To connect your Nokia mobile phone and computer: 1 Make your Nokia mobile phone discoverable. On your mobile phone, from the Menu select Connect. then Bluetooth, and check that Bluetooth is set to On. 2 Start the Bluetooth Setup Wizard in one of three ways: Press the Connect button on your Bluetooth wireless hub. -or- Right-click the Bluetooth icon,, in the Windows taskbar and select Add a Bluetooth Device from the menu displayed. -or Logitech, Inc. 3
Select Add a Bluetooth Device from the Bluetooth Tasks panel in the My Bluetooth Places screen in your Windows Explorer (available in Windows XP only). The first screen of the wizard is displayed. 3 Search for devices by clicking Next >. The wizard then searches for Bluetooth devices within range, and displays those it finds: The devices found are listed. If a large number of devices are found, make a selection here to display just those you are interested in. Click here to search again if your mobile phone is not found. Your Nokia mobile phone may not be found the first time you carry out a search. Click Search Again to repeat the search. 4 Select your Nokia mobile phone by highlighting it and clicking Next >. You have now discovered your Nokia mobile phone! 5 Pair your Nokia mobile phone and computer. To do this, enter a Passkey of up to 16 numbers (digits only) and click Pair Now. (A Passkey is also known as a PIN Code.) Please note: If you want to, you can click Skip Pairing at this stage but doing so means you need to pair the two devices every time you want to transfer any data - synchronize, transfer pictures, and so on. You can also pair your Nokia mobile phone using the Phone Selector facility in Nokia PC Suite. On your Nokia mobile phone you are prompted to choose whether to accept the pairing request from your computer. Click Accept, type a passcode to match the Passkey you entered on your computer, and click OK. When your Nokia mobile phone and computer are successfully paired, the Bluetooth Service Selection dialog is displayed listing the services available to use Logitech, Inc. 4
If you get an error message indicating that your Nokia mobile phone hasn t paired, this may be for a variety of reasons: your Nokia mobile phone may have come out of discoverable mode or may be out of range. For suggestions about the actions you can take see Troubleshooting, page 8. 6 Choose the services you want to use with your Nokia mobile phone, and complete the dialog box displayed for each service to configure it. All of the services offer a Secure Connection box. If the data passed between your Nokia mobile phone and computer is confidential or sensitive, check this box to encrypt it. Information about the other details you can specify is provided below: OBEX Object Push service Select options to suit your requirements for example if you want to save the business cards you receive to Microsoft Outlook on your computer select Microsoft Outlook in the drop-down list for Received Business Cards. Dial-up Networking service In the drop-down list, make sure that the BluetoothConnection option is selected. Nokia PC Suite service We recommend that you make a note of the COM Port used by the Nokia PC Suite service for your Nokia mobile phone. This may be useful if you experience connection problems. 7 When you have completed the dialogs for the different services selected, click Finish in the Bluetooth Service Selection dialog. 8 Authorize your computer to connect to your mobile phone. On your mobile phone menu select Connect., then Bluetooth, and open the trusted device list. Choose your computer name, select Defined as authorized or Set as Authorized, then select Yes when prompted. Your Nokia mobile phone doesn t need to remain connected to your computer. When you synchronize data or transfer pictures, connection takes place automatically. Making sure that your device is connected A device icon for your Nokia mobile phone is shown in your Bluetooth Neighborhood. To see this: 1 Double-click the Bluetooth icon,, in the Windows taskbar. The Explore My Bluetooth Places window is displayed. 2 Select View devices in range. A list of Bluetooth devices within range of your computer is displayed, including your Nokia mobile phone. The icon for your Nokia mobile phone indicates whether it is paired or connected: Not paired or connected Paired but not connected Paired and connected At this stage, the icon of your device should indicated your device is Paired but nor connected. If you have followed the steps in the previous section but your Nokia mobile phone is still not paired, see Troubleshooting, page 8, for suggestions of the actions you should take Logitech, Inc. 5
Get organized - synchronize! Once your Bluetooth device has been paired with your computer, you can use Easy Synchronization to synchronize the contact information held on your computer and Nokia mobile phone. This keeps both devices up-to-date without having to key in all the details twice. Synchronizing your Nokia mobile phone and your computer To be able to synchronize the contact details on your Nokia mobile phone and your computer you must have: Installed PC Suite for your Nokia mobile phone. Refer to the CD provided with your Nokia mobile phone for more information. -or- Connected your Nokia mobile phone. Make sure that your Nokia mobile phone is paired to your computer, and that your Nokia mobile phone recognizes your computer as an authorized device. See the section Connecting your Nokia mobile phone, page 3. To synchronize: 1 Make sure your Nokia mobile phone is in the idle state. 2 Do one of the following: Press the Easy Synchronization hot key on your keyboard,. In the Windows taskbar, click the Connected To Nokia icon,, and select Synchronise. From the Start menu, select Programs Logitech Easy Synchronization Synchronize. The synchronization starts and a progress dialog is displayed. Please note: The first time you launch Easy Synchronization, you follow a set-up wizard that helps you configure the program to carry out the tasks you want. To change these configuration settings at a later time, from the Start menu select Programs Logitech Easy Synchronization Configure. The first synchronization may take about ten to fifteen minutes subsequent synchronizations are much quicker. If you have problems synchronizing, see Troubleshooting, page 8. For detailed information about using your device within Easy Synchronization, see Refer also to the Easy Synchronization documentation for the pre-requisites of installation and use. Checking your synchronization settings You can check and change the synchronization settings at any time. To do this: 1 Start PC Suite for your Nokia mobile phone. From the Start menu, select Nokia PC Suite Nokia PC Suite. 2 Click Synchronise in the General section of the Nokia PC Suite window. 3 Click Properties. 4 Make the changes required and click OK Logitech, Inc. 6
Transferring calls to your computer You can transfer your Nokia mobile phone calls to your computer s speakers and microphone, by using the audio handsfree gateway. To do so, first set up the connection: 1 On your mobile phone, from the Menu select Connect., then Bluetooth, and open the trusted device list. Choose your computer name and select Connect. 2 Right-click the Bluetooth icon,, in the Windows taskbar, and select Quick Connect Audio Gateway Phone name. A message dialog confirms that the Voice Gateway connection has been made. 3 Click OK. When a call is received on your Nokia mobile phone it is automatically transferred from your phone to the speakers and microphone attached to your computer. You are prompted on your computer that there is an incoming call to accept it, click on the message and then click Accept. When you have finished using the audio handsfree gateway, right-click the Bluetooth icon,, in the Windows taskbar, and select Quick Connect Audio Gateway Phone name. This removes the check mark. Calls can no longer be transferred to your computer s speakers and microphone. Your mobile phone can be disconnected by opening the Menu, selecting Connect., then Bluetooth, and opening the trusted device list. Then choose your computer name and select Defined as unauthorized Logitech, Inc. 7
Troubleshooting If you are experiencing difficulties connecting or using your Nokia mobile phone, check whether your problem is listed below. If it is, try the suggestions made to resolve the problem. I can t pair my Nokia mobile phone with my computer There are various reasons why your Nokia mobile phone and computer may not pair: Your Nokia mobile phone may have come out of discoverable mode. Your Nokia mobile phone may be out of range. Your Nokia mobile phone may already be connected to another device in range. Check that your Nokia mobile phone is not communicating with another device, make sure it is in range and in discoverable mode, and try the pairing procedure again. Finally, if none of the above works, try switching your mobile phone off and back on again. I m having problems synchronizing If you are getting errors when synchronizing, try the following: If your mobile phone is a Nokia 3610i, make sure it is using firmware version 5.5 or higher. To check the version of firmware your Nokia 3610i mobile phone is using, type *##0000# on your mobile phone. The version number of the firmware is displayed. If your Nokia 3610i mobile phone uses firmware that is lower than version 5.5, contact the retailer of your mobile phone for information about how to update your mobile phone. Make sure you have installed PC Suite software version 6.3 or higher on your computer. (Refer to the CD that came with your Nokia mobile phone for more information about installing PC Suite.) Make sure that your Nokia mobile phone is available in PC Suite, by clicking the Connected To Nokia icon,, and selecting Phone Monitor. Check the your Nokia mobile phone s status by following the instructions shown. Make sure that your Nokia mobile phone is not connected to another Bluetooth device. You cannot synchronize unless your mobile phone is connected to your computer only. Check that your Nokia mobile phone is paired to your computer before you start synchronization. Look in My Bluetooth Places and locate the device icon for your Nokia mobile phone: The device icon is displayed if it is paired Logitech, Inc. 8
Press the Connect button on your Bluetooth wireless hub, and follow the on-screen instructions. Check the configuration of Easy Synchronization. All paired devices should be associated with PC Suite If the device does not exist, verify within My Bluetooth Places that the device is correctly paired. If the device is shown in My Bluetooth Places but Easy Synchronization fails, then the issue is probably related to device privacy. Logitech respects the privacy of all personal devices, and therefore prevents the synchronization or transfer of information from a mobile phone if it is not recognized as the current user s phone, for example because it was paired using a different Windows user account. Therefore, unpair and then pair the device using the correct user account to make the device recognizable in Easy Synchronization. If PC Suite is not identified, re-run the Easy Synchronization Configuration process. If the problem persists, make sure you are using the correct version of PC Suite (visit If it s correct, try uninstalling and re-installing it. Finally, if none of the above works, try switching your mobile phone off and back on again. When a computer's audio gateway/headset service is connected, synchronization / file sending may not be successful. If you think that the synchronization is taking too long, bear in mind that the first time you synchronize your Nokia mobile phone with your computer it can typically take up to fifteen minutes. Subsequent synchronizations take much less time. Why can t I end a Bluetooth connection? If a device is paired with your Nokia mobile phone but is not transferring data, and has left the device connection open, then the only way to disconnect it is to deactivate the Bluetooth link. To do so: 1 On your phone, from the Menu select Bluetooth. 2 Set Bluetooth to Off Logitech, Inc. 9
