1 Buying guide for Desktop PCs, laptops and Windows tablets Welcome Welcome to the Client IT Hardware Supply (CITHS) group buying guide for Desktop PCs, laptops and Windows tablets. The guide has been drafted to support the supplier agreements in place for client IT hardware. The latest version of this guide can be found at Introduction to Agreements The CITHS group have, via tender, awarded agreements to Stone for Desktop PCs and to (HP) and (Lenovo) as dual suppliers for laptops and Windows tablets. These agreements are mandatory. The aim of these agreements is to improve the service provided to users by simplifying the selection and purchasing processes and by allowing IT support staff to focus their expertise on a specific range of supported devices. The agreement itself provides a range of benefits Delivery times (laptops and Windows tablets) most equipment within the agreement is kept in boot stock please refer to the standard delivery times for details 1 Software image equipment within the agreements has been tested so that the University Windows desktop including Microsoft Office and common applications can be deployed by IT staff upon delivery to campus Warranty extended on-site warranty is included at no-extra charge on models within the agreements Compatibility with University systems and policies all equipment with the agreements is tested with all line of business applications, networking infrastructure and the University Encryption Software. Workstations Workstations must be ordered through suppliers on the framework. For orders over 5000 all four suppliers must be contacted for quotes. Please refer to the Central Purchasing pages for more detailed information. Ordering Please use Science Warehouse to order the equipment described within this catalogue. 2 Delivery Information Please note that suppliers hold quantities of stock for standard specification models of laptops and Windows tablets to expedite delivery, if you intend to order multiple units please check availability with the supplier. Upgrades may result in laptop models becoming build to order which will lengthen the delivery times please check with individual suppliers before ordering if you need further information. 5 Denotes the number of units held in boot stock. BTO Denotes build to order which will impact delivery times, please check with the appropriate supplier. Standard delivery times Desktop Laptops/Windows Tablets - Stock Laptops/Windows Tablets - Build to order 10 days 5 days working days, check with the relevant supplier Please note delivery times are to deliver to site all equipment within this guide (including build to order) will be asset tagged and imaged before delivery. However, local commissioning will need to be scheduled to install the University Windows desktop, install user specific software and to encrypt mobile devices. Can t find what you are looking for? If you still can t find a suitable solution within the agreement please liaise with your IT support team to discuss your needs.
