2 Notes on installing and removing boards and components! Before removing any individual modules, always switch the computer off first and disconnect it from the mains supply and remove all cables. After the main power cable has been disconnected, discharge the remaining voltage by pressing the power on button. The workplace must be designed in accordance with the guidelines of the European Federation of Trade Unions. Only professional quality tools must be used. Switch the computer off and pull the power plug out of the mains socket. Remove the cables. After the main power cable has been disconnected, discharge the remaining voltage by pressing the power on button. Never use sharp objects such as screwdrivers, scissors or knives as leverage to remove covers. Boards with electrostatic sensitive devices (ESD] are marked with the label shown. When you handle boards fitted with ESDs, you must, under all circumstances, observe the following points: You must statically discharge yourself before working with boards (e.g. by touching a grounded object]. The equipment and tools you use must be free of static charges. Remove the power plug from the mains supply before inserting or removing boards containing ESDs. Always hold boards with ESDs by their edges. Never touch pins or conductors on boards fitted with ESDs. For more information about ESD please refer to the Computer based Training ESD in electronics ( Keep in mind SB-PC-11009: The current available EDSD (EGB] regulations must be obeyed. It is not allowed to connect or disconnect any cables or components within a system, while the main power cable is plugged. After the main power cable has been disconnected, please discharge the remaining voltage by pressing the power on button. After that it is save to work on the internal components. Page 2 of 32

4 Removing the battery Close the LCD screen so that it locks into place. Unplug the mains adapter from the mains socket. Disconnect all cables connected to the notebook. Turn your notebook over and place it on a stable, sturdy, flat surface. If necessary, lay an anti-slip cloth on this surface to prevent the notebook from being scratched. Push the locking device in the direction of the arrow (red arrow) and hold it in place. Push the slider in the direction of the arrow (yellow arrow) to release the battery. 6 Removing the memory modules Remove the screw (yellow circle).[##901] Remove the RAM door (green arrow). [# COVER, RAM] Unlock the RAM modules by pressing the latches sidewards (yellow arrows) and remove them (red arrow). Page 6 of 32

7 Removing the dust filter Lift out the dust filter (green arrow). Page 7 of 32

8 Removing the keyboard Remove the two screws (yellow circles) which are fixing the keyboard. [## Turn the device around. Page 8 of 32

9 Carefully loosen the keyboard by pushing beside the small plastic noses by using a plastic tool (yellow arrows). Gently lift up the keyboard (green arrows) until the keyboard cables can be disconnected. Be aware that the keyboard is fixed with double sided adhesive tape (red arrow). Disconnect the keyboard cables (red circles). Remove the keyboard. Page 9 of 32

10 Removing the upper assy Remove the ODD Remove the eight screws (yellow circles). Remove the two screws (red circles). Disconnect the cables (red circles). Remove both screws (yellow circles). [# Gently lift up the upper assy to the left side and pay attention to the cable of the finger print sensor (red flash). Page 10 of 32

16 Removing the HDD Disconnect the flex print cable of the audio board (red circle). Lift out the HDD rubber (green arrow). Pull the HDD to the right and lift it out (yellow arrow). Page 16 of 32

27 Removing the touch pad Gently lift up the Mylar sheet (green arrow). Remove the two screws (yellow circle). Disconnect the cable (red arrow). Remove the board (yellow arrow). [# TOUCHPAD ASSY] Page 27 of 32

29 Removing the LCD Disconnect the LCD cable and the WLAN/UMTS cables. Remove the four screws (yellow circles). Lift out the LCD. Page 29 of 32

30 Disassembling the LCD Removing the LCD Use a plastic tool to separate the LCD front frame from the LCD cover carefully. Start at the upper right corner and move clockwise around the LCD assy (yellow arrows). Remove the LCD front frame. [# LCD FRONT COVER] Attention: Please be carefull while disassembling the LCD as the front cover assy is fixed with a strong doublesided adhesive tape. Especially at the lower side of the display it might be fixed more strong (red flashes)! Page 30 of 32

31 Release the cables at the corners of the LCD panel (yellow arrows). Remove the two screws which are fixing the LCD panel to the back cover (red circles). Lift up the LCD panel and remove it (green arrows). Page 31 of 32
