7 Meeting Room / Small Classroom The podium equipment in this type of room is housed in a cabinet, mounted onto the wall. The controls will be on the face of the cabinet at the top and when opened, you will have access to the computer. 8 What each control does 1. Display On/Off These buttons will turn the display (usually a TV Monitor) on or off. The lit up button will indicate the current state of the display. 2. Volume Use this dial to control the audio level coming from the computer or other sound inputs. The current level is measured with LEDs going upward as it gets louder. 3. PC When this button is selected, the display of the computer attached to the podium is displayed on the screen. 4. Laptop When this button is selected, the display of an external laptop is displayed on the screen instead (see External / Laptop Connections). 5. Video Mute Use this button to temporarily blank the screen (the button will be lit when activated). To un-blank the screen, simply push it again. Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 8

9 External / Laptop Connections The podium equipment does have the ability to accept external devices such as a laptop. All of the connections and their functions are shown below: 1. USB There are 2 USB ports that are connected to the podium computer. These can be used for memory sticks (thumb drives), external hard drives, wireless devices, etc. 2. Network connection Use this RJ45 connection to connect an Ethernet cable to a laptop to gain internet / network access 3. Audio jack an external audio source can be connected here (i.e. speaker output from laptop) 4. VGA Video connection Use this connection to add another computer display (i.e. laptop) Note: Cables are usually stored in the cabinet. Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 9

10 Classroom with Document Camera / Smart Podium The podium equipment in this type of room is in / on an actual podium with the controls housed in a black control box on the counter. What each control does 1. Display On/Off These buttons will turn the display (TV Monitor or projector) on or off. The lit up button will indicate the current state of the display. After being pressed, the button may blink. Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 10

11 This is because of the warm up / cool down time of the display. DO NOT press the button again as this is normal. On will light up green when completely activated. 12 Touch Screen Controls (AHI Auditorium) What each control does 1. Projector On / Off controls These buttons will turn the projectors on or off. Simply tap them once to use. The button will be green when the projector is on and red when off. Please be Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 12

13 patient when turning on as the projectors require some warm up time before they will display an image. 2. Output controls Here you can control which output displays on which projector. Your choices are an externally connected laptop, the podium pc, the podium blu-ray player, document camera (if connected), and aux (other audio and video sources). In the example below, PC was selected: As you can see, all of the possible projector output combinations are listed. Simply tap the one that you prefer. The screens for laptop, doc cam, blu-ray, and aux look very similar. 3. Blu-ray Controls When selected, this will provide you with an onscreen remote for the podium s blu-ray player (see the diagram below). Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 13

14 External / Laptop Connections The podium equipment does have the ability to accept external devices such as a laptop. A VGA connector for video, an HDMI connector for sound and video and a USB connector are supplied and are already connected to the podium. 16 1. TV On / Off These three buttons will allow you to turn the 3 TV s on or off. When on, the button will be lit up blue. When turning off, a pop-up will appear on the screen as shown: 2. Projector On / Off These 2 buttons will allow you to turn the 2 projectors on or off. They also lower and raise the projectors from their hidden ceiling compartments. 3. Current Display Touch the button for the display that you want to work with. The chosen display button will be dark when selected. 4. Video Source for Current Display Here you can tap to select which source will display on the current display you have chosen. Your choices are: PC, VGA/Laptop, HDMI/Laptop, DVD/Bluray, and Doc Cam (if applicable). 5. Volume Control This dial will let you control the sound level. The level is indicated at the bottom middle of the screen via a scale of green bars. 6. Audio Source Touch this button to select you audio source. Your choices are: PC, Aux / Laptop, and DVD / Blu-ray as shown below: Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 16

17 7. Display Mute Press this button to blank the displays. When active, the button will be flashing. 8. Sound Mute Press this button to mute the audio source. When active, the button will be flashing. 9. Blinds In the AHI Boardroom, pressing this button will present a screen where you can control the window blinds: 10. Help Press this button to get the help screen. 11. Room Layout Pressing this button will present a diagram of the room, displaying where all the projectors and televisions are located and where they will display: Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 17

A VGA connector for video and a sound connector for audio are supplied and are already connected to the podium. 19 What each control does 1. Pic Mute Use this button to temporarily blank the screen (the button will be flashing red when activated). To un-blank the screen, simply push it again. 2. Auto Image Similar to Auto Focus, the button is non-operational in most rooms as the focus has already been manually set. 3. Volume Use this dial to control the audio level coming from the computer or other sound inputs. The current level is measured with LEDs going upward as it gets louder. 4. Projectors On/Off These buttons will turn the projectors on or off. When on, the button(s) will be lit up red and when off, they will not be lit at all. After being pressed, the button may blink. This is because of the warm up / cool down time of the display. DO NOT press the button again as this is normal. The projector button(s) will light up solid red when completely activated. The display(s) should be on at that point. 5. DVD - When this button is selected it will light up and the display of the DVD player attached to the podium will be displayed on the projector(s). 6. VCR - When this button is selected it will light up and the display of the VCR attached to the podium will be displayed on the projector(s). 7. Doc Cam - When this button is selected it will light up and the display of the Document Camera attached to the podium will be displayed on the projector(s). 8. PC - When this button is selected it will light up and the display of the computer attached to the podium will be displayed on the projector(s). 9. Laptop - When this button is selected, the display of an external laptop is displayed on the projectors instead (see External / Laptop Connections). 10. DVD & VCR Controls A remote is not necessary for the attached DVD / VCR. It can be controlled using this control panel instead. Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 19

20 External / Laptop Connections The podium equipment does have the ability to accept external devices such as a laptop. A VGA connector for video, an audio connector for external audio, an Ethernet cable for network access, and a USB connector (sometimes 2) are supplied and are already connected to the podium. They should look something like this: Projector Screen and Lighting Controls Below the surface off the podium there should be switches to raise / lower the projector screens, work the classroom lights, and a dimmer to dim the classroom lights. 21 1. Classroom Lights These switches are used to turm the classroom lights on and off. 2. Dimmer Slide to dim the classroom lights to the desired level. 3. Projector Screen controls Use these switches to raise / lower the projector screen(s) from the ceiling. 27 What each control does Projector Remote 1. Projector On / Off buttons Use these buttons to turn the projector on or off. When on is pressed, it will take a few minutes for the projector to fully turn on. When pressing off, you will get an are you sure? message on screen. Press the Enter button to accept. 2. Enter Use this button to select on screen prompts. DVD / VCR Remote The podium comes with a standard dvd / vcr remote to control the 2 devices. Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 27

28 Video Source Switch 1. Type A Use this switch to toggle the output of the projector between the podium computer s display and an external laptop display. 2. Type B Similar to type A, except push button operated. Audio Controls 1. Computer volume Use this knob to raise / lower the podium computer volume. 2. DVD / VCR volume Use this knob to raise / lower the DVD Player / VCR volume. 3. Power Switch Use this switch to turn the amplifier on and off. Niagara College User Services / March 2012 Page 28

VGA Connection Use this to connect the video of an external laptop. 2. Ethernet RJ45 jack Use this to connect an Ethernet cable for network access. 3. USB Connection Use this to connect a USB device.
