1 Chapter 2 Disassembly Procedure Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete disassembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before. A SUS V2S Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs. The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps: Battery Module CPU Module Memory Module HDD Module Optical Drive Module Keyboard Module Second memory module WLAN Module Top Case Module Motherboard Module LCD Module 2-1

2 BATTERY Battery Module The illustration below shows how to remove the battery module. Remove Battery module 1.Slide the battery latch 1 to open battery lock 2.Slide the battery latch 2 and hold the latch to pull the whole battery away from the system CPU MODULE REMOVAL CPU Module The illustrations below show how to remove the CPU module from the notebook. Replacement CPU 1. Remove 3 screws on CPU door and take the CPU door away. 2-2

3 2. Remove 4 screws and then take the heat sink away. 3. Turn the non-removable screw here 180 degrees counter-clockwise to loosen the CPU. 6. Squeeze the vacuum handling pump on the CPU and use it to lift the CPU away. 2-3

4 MEMORY MODULE MEMORY REMOVAL Memory Module The illustration shows how to remove the memory module form the notebook. Removing Memory module 1. Remove 1 screw on Memory door and take the memory door away. 2. Turn over the black Mylar above the memory module, and then pull two latches and pop the Memory module up to the 45 angles, and then pulling out the module in that angle. 2-4

5 HDD MODULE HDD MODULE HDD Module The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD module from the notebook. Removing HDD Module 1. Remove 2 screws here, open HDD door and then take away the HDD door. REMOVAL 2. Remove 4 screws here and pull the hard disk module toward the direction of the arrow and then lift it up and take it out. 3. Remove 4 screws (M3*3) to separate HDD from HDD housing 2-5

6 OPTICAL DRIVE Optical Drive Module 1. Remove 2 screws and 1 rubber pad here from bottom case. REMOVAL 2. Push the ODD module with the tweezers and pull it out from the notebook slowly. 2-6

7 KEYBOARD Keyboard Module The illustration of below shows how to remove the keyboard Removing Keyboard 1. Remove 1 screw here on bottom case. 2-7

8 2. Open 6 latches (F1, F6, F10, INS, Page up, and Tab) on keyboard module and move the keyboard plate upward. 3. Disconnect the keyboard FPC and remove the keyboard plate. Removing Keyboard Cable 1. Use a flexible connector tool to unlock the cable connector on both ends (no. 1). 2. Carefully pull out the keyboard cable (no. 2) with a pair of tweezers. 3. Lock the connector (no. 3) again to avoid possible breakage. 2. Cable out 1. Unlock 1. Unlock

9 SECOND MEMORY Remove Second memory module 1.Pry the two latches of second memory module slightly to pop up the memory at 45 degrees angle and then pull it out at that angle. WLAN MODULE WLAN MODULE WLAN Module The illustrations below show how to remove the WLAN module from the notebook. Remove WLAN module 1. Disconnect the black and white antennas with the WLAN board and remove 2 screws on it REMOVAL 2. Pull WLAN module out at 30 degree angles. 2-9

10 TOP CASE MODULE TOP CASE REMOVAL Top Case Module The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the top case module of the notebook. The module contains the top case itself. Removing Top Case Module 1. Disconnect the coaxial cable, touchpad cable, instant key cable, INT& CMR cable here on top case by order. Coaxial cable Touch pad cable Instant key cable INT&CMR cable 2-10

11 2. Remove 9 screws on top case. 3. Remove the hinge cover and repeat on the other one. Caution: pry slightly 4. Remove 18 screws on bottom case. 2-11

12 5. Disconnect the DCIN cable from mother board. 6. Separate the Top case from the bottom case, *before that remember to remove SD dummy card and E-express dummy card from the system. 2-12

13 7. Remove 2 screws here on top case and move the cables away from cable guiding and then separate the top case from LCD module.. 8. Remove 4 screws on instant key board and take the instant key board away. Caution 9. Remove the CU foil above touch pad module. 2-13

14 10. Disconnect the TPM cables from TPM board and remove 1 piece of tape here, and then take away the TPM cable. 2-14

15 11. Open the latch here and disconnect the touch pad FPC from TPM board. Disassembly procedure 12. Remove two screws here and take away the TPM board. MOTHER BOARD MOTHERBOARD REMOVAL Motherboard The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Motherboard. Removing Motherboard 1. Tear 2 pieces of tape off Bluetooth module. 2-15

16 2. Disconnect the Bluetooth cable from mother board, then remove Bluetooth module from motherboard. 3. Disconnect the Bluetooth cable from Bluetooth module 4. Remove TPM module. 2-16

17 5. Disconnect the speaker cable from mother board. 6. Remove 3 screws on mother board. 7. Remove motherboard module from bottom case. 2-17

18 8. Remove 4 screws here on bottom case 9. Remove 2 screws here on DCIN port and move the DCIN cable away from cable guiding and then take away the DCIN module. 10. Remove 2 pieces of tape off speaker cables and remove 4 screws on speakers. 2-18

19 10. Take away the two speakers. 12. Remove 3 pieces of tapes on bottom case and disconnect MODEM cable from mother board. 13. Turn over the mother board module, remove 1 piece of tape and 2 screws here on MODEM module, then take the whole MODEM module away. 2-19

20 14. Remove 2 screws here on CPU fan and disconnect fan cable from mother board and then take the CPU fan module away. LCD MODULE LCD MODULE DISASSEMBLY LCD Module The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD module. The module contains LCD panel, Inverter board, LCD bezel, LCD back cover. Disassembling LCD Module 1. Remove 6 rubber pads and 6 screws on LCD front bezel. 2. Pry the inside edges softly to separate LCD front bezel from LCD panel and take it away. 2-20

21 3. Remove 1 screw on inverter board. 4. Disconnect inverter cable and LCD cable from inverter cable and take away the inverter board. 5. Remove 3 screws here. 2-21

22 6. Remove the LCD panel from LCD back cover. 7. Remove 4 screws on each LCD bracket and take both brackets away. 8. Remove 2 pieces of tape here. 2-22

23 9. Disconnect coaxial cable from LCD panel and take coaxial cable away. Disassembly procedure 10. Remove 1 screw on each hinge and take both hinges away. 11. Remove 3 pieces of tape and 1 screw here on LCD back cover. 2-23
