1 1 Autodesk Education Community Students can download the latest Autodesk software for free from the Autodesk Education Community. Software is licenced for three years period. You can study software features at your own pace, ask and learn from experts, share your ideas and projects and explore career potentials with Autodesk skills. Register to Autodesk Education Community on AutoCAD student version Short download manual for student software Follow these steps to get your own Autodesk student software: 1. Create a new user account at Account must be created with your school address (like: student@university.org ) 2. Download application Get Software 3. Extract downloaded package and start the installation a. During installation, use the Serial number and Product key found from your own account. Serial number is unique for your account. b. Configure installation (Configure-option during the installation) 4. On first start-up activate the software (Activate-option) a. During activation, create a new Autodesk user account (notice: a different account than Education Community account, in here you can use non-educational address). 5. Activated software will run 3 years from activation.

2 2 New account to Autodesk Education Community Go to You ll see the Sign In window. You can set up a new account by clicking Register. If you already have a username and password you can enter those into corresponding fields and click Login. If the Sign In window doesn t appear, you can click Register or Log In from the right hand corner of the page. When you log in, you might get an announcement of the new features of Education Community and you can choose if you want to make you re profile public.

3 3 Registration information You must use your school domain address when creating a new user profile. Fields marked with * are mandatory. After submitting your registration information you will receive an confirming your access.

4 4 Forgotten password? If you forget your user name or password, click Forgot Password. Choose if you want to have a new password based on a username or registered and click Submit. You will get a password reset . You can create a new password by clicking a link in . If a browser security warning pops up, click Continue (warning window may differ slightly in different web browsers). Enter new password and verify it and click Submit.

5 5 Software download, installation and activation You can download as many software titles as you want. Software will run three years from activation. You can use software 30 days without activation. Download the software 1. Log on using your education community account. 2. Select Get Software. 3. Select the application to download. Check the version number, language and if it should be 32- or 64- bit version according to your Windows-system. Click Download. 4. By clicking Download-button software download will start.

6 6 5. You can see your Serial Number and Product Key during download. These will be needed during installation and activation. 6. If Automatically open when complete is activated, installation will start automatically after download is finished. If Automatically open when complete is not selected, you can start the installation by clicking Open (if download consist of multiple files, click Open at file number one). 7. Next you need to confirm that you want to open file downloaded from internet. Choose Yes. 8. Downloaded file will be extracted to a Destination folder by clicking Install. Installation will start after that.

7 7 Software Installation 1. Start installation by selecting Install Products. 2. Select AutoCAD, Autodesk Design Review and Autodesk Material Library. If Design Review and Material Library are already installed with another Autodesk-product, they will be grayed out. 3. Read the License Agreement. By choosing I Accept installation continues. Continue to next page by clicking Next.

8 8 4. Type Serial number and Product key. These values are from Student Community portal. Fill in user information (do not need to match your student community account). 5. Select Configure option to customize the installation. Notice: It s good to go through the configure options, especially with software like AutoCAD Architecture. Out of the box options are mainly North American settings, to localize your software Configure is right option. 6. From the Select the License Type -tab choose Stand-alone license and click Next

9 9 7. Select Typical for installation type and select Express Tools and Create the AutoCAD shortcut options. 8. Installation program will connect to Autodesk server to check for updates. If there are any updates, download them by clicking Download. Updates will be included to the installation. Continue after download by clicking Next. 9. Finally select Configuration complete.

10 To start installation with your configuration select Install. 11. After installation deselect View the Readme option and click Finish.

11 11 Start up and activate the AutoCAD 1. Start AutoCAD from desktop shortcut. 2. Activation window shows up. You can use the program 30 days without activation (Try-button). Click Activate to run the activation. 3. You need an Autodesk-account to activate the product (note: this is different account than Education Community account!). If you don t have an Autodesk-account, select Create account now. If you already have an Autodesk account you can use that.

12 12 4. Fill in user information for new Autodesk-account. You can use personal For Registered to -option select An Individual.

13 13 6. You can change the account information by clicking Back to edit and you can create an account by clicking Accept. 7. Next you can check the product, serial number and request code. Click Next. 8. You will receive activation confirmation. Accept activation by selecting Finish.

14 14 General 1. On every startup student version of AutoCAD informs that all files saved with this version will have educational stamp. That stamp will remain even when the file is opened by commercial version. 2. Getting Started window pops up on startup. By deselecting Show this dialog at startup option this window will not show up again. 3. You can check the license information by selecting Help > About > Product Information.
