1 Android ebooks, eaudio, Magazines, and downloadable music: PinDigital, RB Digital, and Freegal PinDigital ebooks & eaudiobooks 1. Open the Play Store on your device. 2. Search for OverDrive. Follow the prompts and tap Open when it has completed downloading. 3. Tap Sign up to register for an OverDrive account. Fill out the required fields and tap Sign up. Having an Overdrive account allows you to sync your items across multiple devices. 1

2 4. Tap +Add a title to find your library. 5. Type Joliet Public Library and tap Search. Select either Joliet Public Library or Joliet Public Library Black Road Branch. Either one will take you to the same digital book site. 6. Tap the Star icon to bookmark PinDigital (Pinnacle Digital Consortium) as your Library. Tap Pinnacle Digital Consortium to search for digital books. 2

3 7. Sign in with your Joliet Library card to see all the titles available to you. There are several ways to find books. You can browse the collections on the home screen. You can also tap the Search icon and type in a title, author, or keyword. Additionally, you can tap the Menu icon to browse by subject or collection. 8. The format and status is available on the book jacket. 3

4 9. Once you have located a book to check out, tap Borrow. Then tap Choose a format and EPUB ebook (or MP3 Audiobook for eaudio). 10. The book will download to the OverDrive app. To toggle to your bookshelf, tap the Menu icon and Bookshelf. Tap on your book to open it and begin reading. Open the OverDrive app at any time to read books you have downloaded or to search for more books. TIP: The book will automatically expire after the lending period ends. You don t need to worry about it returning it. However, if you wish to return the book prior to the expiration date, hold down on the book until a menu pops open. Tap on Return to Library to return the book early. 4

5 RBdigital (Magazines) 1. Open your web browser and go to Tap Create New Account. 2. Enter your full Joliet Library card number and tap Next. Fill in all the required fields and tap Create Account. 5

6 3. Now that you have created your account, you can browse, search and check out magazines from the website or from the app. To download the app, go to the Play Store and search for Recorded Books. Follow the prompts to download the app and open once done downloading. 4. Enter your address and tap Next. Enter your password from the Zinio account you created and tap Next. 5. The Home screen will show you a selection of magazines you can check out. To locate magazines, you have previously checked out from the site, tap on the menu icon and then Checked Out. 6

7 6. You can browse for magazines by clicking on the + sign or Explore. You can also search for a specific magazine by tapping on the search icon. 7. When you locate a magazine to check out, simply tap on the magazine and then Checkout. If you want to receive an when the next issue is available. Check the box and tap OK. If you don t want to receive an , tap OK. Tap on the menu icon and Checked Out to access magazines you have checked out. TIP: You can access any magazines you have checked out by opening the Recorded Books app. To remove a magazine, tap on the X and then say ok. 7

8 Freegal (downloadable music) Freegal is a free downloadable music service that offers access to about 13 million songs, including Sony Music s catalog of legendary artists, and over 40,000 music videos. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions. You are entitled to 5 downloads per week. All downloaded music is yours to keep. You can find more information on Freegal, including FAQs page, on our website under Installing Freegal App 1. Open the Play Store on your device. 2. Search for Freegal. Tap Install, then Open. 3. Enter your zip code or city and tap Go. 8

9 4. Choose the Joliet Public Library and type in your JPL card number. 5. When prompted, read and agree to the Terms and Conditions to continue. 6. The Home tab lists top singles and artists that you can either stream or download. You can browse by Top Artists, Top Songs, Top Genres, or Music Videos. Do download a song, tab the arrow on the right. 7. You can download up to five songs a week. Once downloaded, songs are added to your My Music file, located under the More tab. To log out from Freegal, tab Settings. 9

10 Downloading Music from Freegal to Windows Media Player 1. Go to In the top right, click the Login link and sign in with your Joliet Public Library card number. 2. You can search for albums, artists, composers, songs or browse one of the categories. 3. To download, once you ve chosen a song, click Download Now. You can also add the song to your Wishlist. 4. 11 5. To add downloaded songs to your Windows Media Player Music Library, open My Computer, then open Downloads folder, where you will see the song. 6. Open your Windows Media Player. From your Downloads, drag the new song into the Windows Media Player library, and click on Add to Library. 7. Plug your device into a computer. You can now transfer songs to your device in Windows Media Player by dragging the song toward right and clicking on Sync. 11
