5 Introducton F-5000 Vew Introducton Introducton Thank you for purchasng the Model F-5000 seres Thermal Gas Mass Flow meter from ONICON. An extensve engneerng effort has been nvested to delver advanced features, accuracy measurement performance, and outstandng relablty. The F-5000 Vew software allows users to easly dsplay data and confgure the F-5000 to ther specfc applcaton parameters. Then, log flow/temperature data to an Excel fle. Note: For the Model F-5500 flow meter only, the software can also access the Calbraton Valdaton dagnostc functon usng the Zero CAL-CHECK test. Ths Manual contans the nstallaton and operaton nstructons for the F-5000 Vew Software. Ths manual s dvded nto the followng sectons: Introducton, Installaton, Operaton, Glossary and Index. 6 F-5000 Vew Installaton INSTALLATION Installaton Installaton Open the enclosure of your F-5000 seres flow meter as nstructed n your meter's nstructon manual. Connect the flow meter to a PC or laptop usng the mn USB port (type A, mn cable). If the PC s connected to the Internet and runnng Wndows 7/8, the PC wll try to automatcally load the VCP drver. 7 Installaton F-5000 Vew Installaton To nstall the F-5000 Vew program, run the "F-5000Vew_V#.##-setup.exe" fle that s located n the sub-folder of the downloaded fle. After clckng "Next" the screen wll show: Select the folder n whch you wsh to nstall F-5000 Vew, then clck "Install". INSTALLATION When the program s done nstallng, you may ext, then restart your computer. Note: The F-5000 Vew software wll automatcally detect the model type (F-5500 or F-5400). Note: Some features that are avalable on the F-5500 wll not be avalable for the F-5400 and wll not appear as optons to confgure usng ths software program. F-5000 Software Manual 09/ / Page 7

8 F-5000 Vew Installaton COM Port Assgnment COM Port Assgnment Be sure to have your F-5000 seres flow meter connected by mn USB to a PC or laptop before openng the F-5000 Vew software. Upon openng F-5000 Vew for the frst tme, Wndows wll assgn a "vrtual COM port". The COM port number that has been assgned wll appear automatcally n the drop down box. If the correct COM Port does not appear, go to Control Panel/Devce Manager and clck on Ports (COM & LPT). The COM port number should be dsplayed under the USB symbol. If prompted, enter the assgned COM port n F-5000 Vew by usng the drop down menu and press OK. Note: The flow meter must be plugged nto the computer n order for the system to regster t. 9 Operaton: Man Screen F-5000 Vew Man Screen Man Screen The mage below depcts the man screen that appears upon enterng F-5000 Vew. Fg. 3.1: F-5000 Vew Man Screen Model F-5500 only Note: Data on the screen s refreshed at user selected update rate. See p. 11 for more nformaton on settng up Charts. Charts Button Ths calls up two charts that can be confgured for ether temperature or flow. Each chart can be ndvdually enlarged and rescaled from the orgnal default settngs. For more nformaton on how to change the charts settngs, refer to "Operaton: Chart Settngs" on page 11. Note: It can be set for ether automatc or manual scalng. F-5000 Software Manual 10/ / Page 9

10 F-5000 Vew Operaton: Man Screen Model F-5000 Man Screen Data Log Ths functon allows all selected data to be logged to an Excel fle at the specfed sample tme. All readngs are tme/date stamped. For more nformaton on usng the Data Logger functon, refer to "Operaton: Data Logger" on page 20. Confgure Ths allows the operator to go n and set the applcaton parameters. Ths can be done ether va the F-5000 Vew software or manually va the nstrument's dsplay. For more nformaton on confgurng applcaton parameters, refer to "Operaton: Confgure" on page 13. Smulaton Ths functon can be used to verfy that all the flow meter outputs are workng properly. The easest way to perform ths check s to enter a specfc temperature/flow rate. The correspondng analog outputs can be verfed usng a DMM and usng a watch for the pulse. Refer to Page 21 for more nformaton on how to use the Smulaton functon. Zero CAL-CHECK (avalable only on Model F-5500) The Zero CAL-CHECK calbraton valdaton test can be performed whle the unt s stll n the ppe (f a no flow condton can be establshed) or out of the ppe when zero flow cannot be establshed. Zero CAL-CHECK does the followng: Checks for buld-up on sensor that could affect calbraton Further valdates the zero stablty of the meter Checks thermal conductvty (heat transfer) repeatablty of the sensor The Zero CAL-CHECK calbraton valdaton test s explaned n greater detal on p. 23. Note: Zero CAL-CHECK wll not show up as an opton for the Model F Alarms The unt can be confgured for hgh/low alarms for ether flow or temperature. The "alarms wndow" dsplays any alarms or warnngs. 11 Operaton: Chart Settngs F-5000 Vew Charts Settngs Charts Settngs From the man menu screen, clck on "Charts". Two charts, one for flow and the other for temperature, wll appear sde-by-sde. Fg. 3.2: Chart Settngs Wndow - Charts 1 and 2 Each chart can be selected for flow, temperature or total flow and scaled n one of three ways: a plus/mnus percent scale, nputtng mn/max values manually, or realtme automatc scalng. 12 F-5000 Vew Operaton: Chart Settngs Charts Settngs Save Settng The user can save any new chart settngs on the man page wndow. These settngs can then be closed by clckng on the "X" at the top rght corner of the wndow. Parameters All meter operatng parameters can easly be selected for chartng: flow, temperature or total flow. Total Ponts The total ponts specfes the number of ponts plotted on the graph. Older data s automatcally omtted. Update Rate The update rate controls the data refresh rate. Percent (%) Scale Ths sets the scale to a plus/mnus specfed percentage from the ntal measured value. Typcally, the mnmum/maxmum s scaled at plus/mnus 10% of that ntal value. Manual Chart Settng The Manual mode allows a user to nput mn/max values for chart scalng. When enterng new values, press enter for them to take effect. Automatc Chart Settng Automatc mode lets the program adjust the scalng on a real-tme bass based on the entre range of values. F-5000 Software Manual 10/ / Page 12

14 F-5000 Vew Operaton: Confgure Confgure Optons Fg. 3.4: Level II Confguraton Screen - Password Levels and Optons Unt Select Notes: 1. Ths feld wll show the frmware verson for your model type of meter (F-5400 or F-5500) 2. The Password Level wll show whether the user has entered a Level 1 or Level 2 password. Not all parameters may be accessed at a Level 1 password. 3. Ths secton wll only show for a Model F The F-5400 does not come wth a dsplay 4. Ths feld wll dsplay the gas that the flow meter has been calbrated to measure. 5. The pulse settngs wll only show on a flow meter that has been ordered wth the Pulse Opton. 6. The "Save/Restore Parameter" optons are not avalable usng a Level 1 password. 7. The seral communcaton settngs can be accessed by clckng on the "Seral COM Settngs" button. The seral communcaton settngs wll only show on a flow meter that has been ordered wth ether the HART or MODBUS/BACnet communcaton optons. Unt Select The "Unt Select" secton s used to change the desred unts n the flow rate, temperature and reference pressure parameters. F-5000 Software Manual 10/ / Page 14

15 Operaton: Confgure F-5000 Vew Process Propertes Dsplay Alarm Lmts Analog 4 to 20 ma Process Varables Process Propertes Ppe Inner Dameter (ID): The ppe nner dameter can be entered n ether nches or mllmeters, dependng on whether the flow or mass measurement unts selected are metrc or US standard. Once entered, the program wll automatcally recalculate the ppe cross-sectonal area for the velocty/flow calculatons. A precse ID s requred to ensure accurate flow measurement. Cut-off: A gas flow rate at - or below - the cut-off settng wll cause the meter to read zero. Flter: Changng ths value wll ncrease or decrease the dampng of the flow rate readng. Increase the settng to ncrease dampng. The default settng s 0.8 (see F-5000 Manual for more detals). Seral Numbers: Seral numbers of the meter, the man board, brdge and sensor (factory set). Dsplay (F-5500 only) Wth the top four drop-down boxes, the user can choose the data to dsplay. By selectng "Alternate", the screen automatcally swtches between the data screens. Alarm Lmts Users can set both hgh and low alarms for both flow and temperature. When a lmt s reached, an alarm message s dsplayed and the dgtal output s actvated. The dgtal output can be used to control an external buzzer, lght or other devce to alert the operator. Analog 4 to 20 ma The F-5500 and F-5400 have one analog 4 to 20 ma output that s confgurable for ether flow or temperature. Though the F-5500 and F-5400 are scaled for the specfc applcaton at the factory, F-5000 Vew allows the operator to easly re-scale the 4 to 20 ma output as needed. Process Varables Flow: Current flow rate n selected unts Total: Cumulatve mass or volume flow n selected unts Velocty: Flow velocty Temperature: Gas temperature (Fahrenhet or Celsus) CSV: Current sense voltage Elapsed Tme: Tme snce the Totalzer was reset F-5000 Software Manual 10/ / Page 15

16 F-5000 Vew Operaton: Confgure Reference Condtons Dgtal Output Select Pulse Output Scalng Save Current Confguraton Reference Condtons Reference temperature and pressure are the standard (or normal) temperature and pressure (STP) for whch the flow rate s calculated. Dgtal Output Select Ths selecton confgures the F-5000 dgtal output for ether pulses (counts) or an alarm output. Pulse Output Scalng If the pulse (counts) output s selected, the pulse scalng can be programmed three dfferent ways usng the menu "Pulse Output Confguraton". Unts per Pulse (example: 10SCF/Pulse) Maxmum flow and maxmum frequency Pulses per Unt Note: If RS485 opton has been ordered on a F-5500 meter, the Pulse opton s not avalable. Save Current Confguraton to Fle The current confguraton parameters are saved to a text fle. 20 F-5000 Vew Operaton: Data Logger Data Logger Data Logger The Data Logger screen can be accessed from the man screen. Clckng the "Data Logger" functon wll prompt the user for a password. Enter a Level I or Level II password and the Data Logger wndow wll appear. Select or create a name for the Excel fle and then press the "Start Data Loggng" button. 21 Operaton: Smulaton Mode F-5000 Vew Smulaton Mode Smulaton Mode After clckng on "Smulaton", a password wll be requested. Enter the password and then the Smulaton screen wll be shown. Smulaton mode allows users to verfy the analog output, dgtal output and totalzer at smulated flow rates and temperature. 23 Operaton: Zero CAL-CHECK F-5000 Vew Zero CAL- CHECK Zero CAL-CHECK (F-5500 only) Zero CAL-CHECK s performed to verfy the followng: Checks for buld-up on sensor that could affect calbraton Further valdates the zero stablty of the meter Checks thermal conductvty (heat transfer) repeatablty of the sensor From the Man Screen, clck on the "Zero CAL_CHECK" button to access the Zero CAL- CHECK Menu Wndow. Fg. 3.15: Zero CAL-CHECK Menu Wndow On the Zero CAL-CHECK Menu, there are felds to enter nformaton about the person performng the test, meter tag nformaton, and any other mportant nformaton may be entered nto the comments area. The user can also specfy a partcular folder name and locaton to save ths data. The data wll be stored n a log that can be accessed at a later tme. Please note that the test wll take about fve mnutes. When performng a Zero CAL-CHECK test, all the data s logged nto a log fle wth all pertnent data, ncludng the seral number. A laptop or PC can be used to perform the Zero CAL-CHECK test on the F-5000 meter. When a Zero CAL-CHECK certfcate s requested, the program wll search the log fle for the specfc seral number and wll dsplay only the last check performed.
