1 FACE Trademark Usage Guidelines & Cpyright Permissins The Open Grup Future Airbrne Capability Envirnment (FACE ) Cnsrtium uses FACE and FACE lg design ("the Trademark(s)) in cnnectin with, but nt limited t, FACE pen standards, guides, prducts, services and certificatin f cnfrmance. These are bth trademarks f The Open Grup. Prper use f the Trademark(s) reinfrces its rle as a brand and helps prevent it frm becming a generic name that can be used by anyne. We ask that yu help us prtect ur mark by adhering t these crrect usage guidelines. Hwever, f themselves, these guidelines d nt grant permissin t use any trademark. Please nte that the FACE Trademark(s) may nt be used: As a generic term; In cnjunctin with prduct names, dmain names, business names, lgs and similar usage withut prir permissin frm The Open Grup; With r in cnnectin with wrds (such as but nt limited t "certify(ied)", "cnfrmant", "accredited", "fficial", "apprved" "guaranteed" "recgnized") that imply certificatin f cnfrmance where nne has been granted by the FACE Certificatin Authrity (CA); With r in cnnectin with "cmpliance"; there is n FACE cmpliance certificatin, but nly cnfrmance certificatin. In any way that culd cause cnfusin as t spnsrship, affiliatin, r endrsement by The Open Grup r The Open Grup FACE Cnsrtium. When using the Trademark: The FACE Cnsrtium has established the FACE Cnfrmance Prgram, under which prducts may be certified as cnfrming t the FACE Technical Standard. NO USE may be made f the Trademark(s) n r in cnnectin with prducts, EXCEPT THAT, it is acceptable t use the fllwing: Prir t submitting a prduct int the FACE Cnfrmance Prgram, vendrs may make factual claims that their prduct was develped t align with the requirements defined in the FACE Technical Standard. Crrect: My prduct XX was develped in alignment with the FACE Technical Standard. Crrect: My prduct XX is aligned with the FACE Technical Standard. Incrrect: My prduct XX is FACE aligned. Incrrect: My prduct XX is FACE cnfrmant. Vendrs may make factual claims that they cmpleted the FACE Verificatin prcess, nly if they used ne f the apprved Verificatin Authrities (VAs) and can prduce a valid Statement f Verificatin. Use f the term FACE Verified is nt permitted. Crrect: My prduct XX has cmpleted the FACE Verificatin prcess, with assistance frm YYY, a FACE Cnsrtium apprved Verificatin Authrity (VA). Any claims f FACE prduct certificatin may nly be made public after the FACE Certificatin Authrity (CA) has issued the FACE Cnfrmance Certificate and the Certified Unit f Cnfrmance (UC) has been added t the FACE Registry. In the case f a FACE Certified UC which is nt listed in the FACE Registry, the Sftware Supplier: MAY NOT make claims f UC certificatin in any publicly available material, including, but nt by way f limitatin, marketing and publicity materials, web cllaterals, trade shw, r cnference presentatins. MAY shw (but nt prvide a cpy f except as set frth in the bullet immediately belw) the applicable FACE Cnfrmance Certificate t a custmer r ptential custmer as evidence f UC Certificatin. MAY prvide a cpy f the applicable FACE Cnfrmance Certificate t a custmer r ptential custmer upn request during the cmpetitive prcess. Vendrs may make factual public claims that they cmpleted the FACE Certificatin prcess after the CA has issued the FACE Cnfrmance Certificate and the Certified UC has been added t the FACE Registry. The Trademark(s) must always be used in white arund them and must never be superimpsed n r used in assciatin with ther graphics r trademarks. In print, whenever and wherever the Trademark(s) appear, they must be distinguished frm the surrunding text. This applies t all frms f printed media, including advertising cpy, prduct packaging, brchures, manuals, internal memranda, editrial, articles, press releases, crrespndence, prjected and handut presentatin materials, and t cmputer r ther digital electrnic device vide screens. 5 Trademark Acknwledgment and Attributin Trademark acknwledgment and attributin is imprtant as it reminds cmpetitrs, licensees, custmers, and thers that The Open Grup claims exclusive rights in the marks, and is required whenever a Trademark f The Open Grup is used. At the first and mst significant use f the Trademark, and in subsequent tpics r pages where the trademark wuld appear independently if separated, yu shuld use the apprpriate trademark symbl, fr an unregistered trademark r fr a registered trademark, and include the fllwing attributin f The Open Grup s wnership f the Trademark at the ftnte r credit sectin f yur dcument, publicatin, prduct, r ther cmmunicatin. FACE and lg design are trademarks f The Open Grup in the United States and ther cuntries.
