DOCUMENT TITLE Web Based Project Platform DOCUMENT TYPE Deliverable D6.3 DATE 31/08/2015 AUTHORS Cesare, Delaini, LifeGate Stefano, Corti, LifeGate EDITORS Paolo Michele Sonvilla, CREARA PROJECT SUMMARY Achieving the European Union s 2020 energy efficiency targets and at the same time reducing its dependency on energy imports is a huge task that requires innovative approaches and tools such as the ones Trust EPC South wants to provide. The Trust EPC South project aims to unleash the tertiary sector market potential for private energy efficiency investments in Southern Europe by developing a new financial assessment instrument backed by an established building rating methodology (Green Rating ). Such instrument shall support energy service companies (EPC providers and faciliators), financing institutions and tertiary market actors thanks to the application of a standardised methodology to the investment assessment and decision processes, ultimately allowing to redeuce barriers to energy efficiency investments. Trust EPC South, a project financed by the European Union s Horizon 2020 programme, will pursue its ambitious objectives in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia and Greece. The project consortium, led by the Spanish firm CREARA, is composed by interdisciplinary experts representing the participating countries and by the international non-profit organisation Green Rating Alliance. The partners are united by the common intent to stimulate investments in the target markets, which are offering great opportunities for energy efficiency as well as energy performance contracting. 2
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This document presents the first release of Trust EPC South Web portal, describing its main functionalities from a front-end and back-end point of view. The Web platform has to be considered as the main project communication tool, since it is in mpst cases the first channel reached by the audience and gives to the public a first idea of the project s concept, goals and main target stakeholders. The Website has been created and developed following the project s operative necessities, therefore, considering the different countries involved and the need of making the contents understood by the local stakeholders/users of the Website (they often do not speak English), it is organized into 6 national Websites (with multilanguage flag) and 1 main international one (in English) where contents can be differenciated following local and national project needs. The platform has been devised, graphically and structurally, in order to continously evolve and eventually become the project s result (or product) specific Webpage. In order to facilitate the updates and the content implementation (in all different languages), the Web platform is created using a simple CMS (Content Management System) backend to give maxium flexibility to all national leaders in updating and inserting specific information regarding the project development in their own country. The Website has been developed in order to be a repository of shared contents (between partners) and of public deliverables and tools to be downloaded by the public audience. Moreover it should become a point of reference in the Energy Efficiency sector, presenting specific sectorial news and generating periodic newsletters to the the project s subscriber list. For an easier accessibility, the project platform has been created in order to be mobile friendly (nowadays mobile devices are commonly used to browse on internet), therefore it is responsive and can be accessed from any device (desktop computers, mobile phones and tablets) maintaining the same functionalities. 3

WEBSITE FRONT END OVERVIEW AND STRUCTURE The idea behind the creation of Trust EPC South Web platform is having a simple, attractive, easy to use Website where it is possible to find all the information needed considering the main necessities of the audience when reaching the platform. We have tried to reach this goal by using a fresh look and feel (following the graphic elements of the project s corporate identity) with a dynamic slide show of large images accompanied by short text directing the different target audiences (EPC providers/facilitators, tertiary sector actors and financial sector representatives) to their specific needs within the Website. Therefore, when entering the Website a visitor can have a first idea of the project and then he/she can go deeper into the content of interest. From a structural point of view, we decided to primarily visually attract the visitor with images and short text that link to content pages (slide show and banners). Further, a functional header within the main menu links to all content pages of the Website. Service areas (language buttons, member area and footer) have been placed in the lower part of the platform. Image 1: visual structure of the Website layout LEGEND: - Header: main functional menu with all content pages - Slide Show: linking directly to specific internal content pages - Service area: search and language buttons - Banner area: linking to specific areas that will be developed in the future months following the project development - Member area: partners area where to share working documents and access to the backend to modify national Website 5
From a content point of view we decided to present Trust EPC South not as a research European project, underlining timing, deliverable and workpackages etc, but by presenting the project in a way that can interest the visitor describing the concept, the expected results and why it should be interesting for certain target groups. The main menu is quite simple, one section is thought for describing the project (background, goals, results) and the other to explain why it should be of interest for the three main stakeholder groups (potential customers, financial sector and EPC providers). As previously said, it is possible to change and modify the number of pages and their content in any moments via the content management system. There is also a public content area where it is possible to download public deliverables or communication and dissemination tools and issues. Another important section of the platform is the news area where periodically the consortium partners publish relevant news (any kind of content can be inserted such as videos, images, text, hyperlinks etc.). Each national leader can of course decide which news to publish in the news area and differenciate its content depending on the relations of the news with the local and national interests. We decided also to create a registration form where visitors interested in the project topics can register; this has been done in order to build a community of international stakeholders interested in the project and being able to contact them periodically with project updates (periodic newsletter) and informations related to national activities (events, national discussion etc.). The registration form has been structured in order to direct specific information to interested target groups through the possibility of entering the preferred language, the sector of activity and the country of residence. Through Google Analytics it is possible monitor the number of visitors of the Website, page views, their origins and number of downloads of published documents. Different specific areas have been thought in order to host services dedicated to the main targets and giving informations about national local events and activities. These areas (national discussion platform, matchmaking, benchmarking and training webinars) will be developed in the next months following the project necessities and specific national requirements in order to offer a precise service to all targets visiting the Website. 6
WEBSITE BACK END CMS NATIONAL ACCESS As previously discussed, the Website has been developed thinking of the possibility of easily managing its content (number of pages, name of pages, images, text etc.) using a simple CMS (Content Management System) with specific access for each national Website. Through the Member Area button using a unque username and password it is possible to access to the modification panel of the Website and update/change its content. In order to organize the process a Website management tutorial has been shared between all partners: - the main English version Website is managed by LifeGate, the partner that created the Website and inserted all content and Creara, as project coordinator; - each national leader is responsible for their own national Website (translating the English main content and keeping the news area updated and relevant). Two typologies of user levels have been created for each Website access so that each partner can decide to whom giving internally the Website management task. - Administrator: user that can entirely modify its Website; - Editor: user with less control that can modify only content related to the news area. CMS Language Website User User Levels Website Userna EN - English (main website) IT - Italian PT - Portuguese ES - Spanish FR - French GR - Greek HR - Croatian LIFEGATE LIFEGATE Self Energy Engineering & Innovation s.a. 8 Once an administrator accesses to the member area, a private section of the Website opens up dedicated to the partner sharing working document repository. Each member can modify, upload or download working documents so that every partner has a dedicated working document repository platform. 9 WEBSITE BACK END CMS TUTORIALS In order to make all consortium partners able to access the CMS, to modify Website contents and images a specific tutorial has been prepared easily explaining all functionalities of the CMS. Image 4: example of a section (to create news) of the CMS tutorial 9
