3 Introduction Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to read through my plugin documentation. If you have already purchased the Local Azon plugin, I thank you for your business. Before I get started, I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself if you don't already know me. My name is Ryan Stevenson. I am not your typical, single male internet marketer. In fact, I'm quite the family man and was raised with very traditional morals and values. I am married with three kids (one still in the womb as I type), with the oldest child being 10 years old if that helps you put an age on me. I'm still rather young overall because I did marry in my early 20s, but I've been working online full-time for 16 years as of the time I'm writing this (late 2012). I went to college for Computer Animation, but I decided not to pursue that career path. I am a self-taught computer and website programmer, with some minor college courses in those areas as well. Although I have worked a random real job before, making money online is what I do. However, until a year and a half ago, I didn't make any money online selling my own products. Most of my income came from niche affiliate websites that I've built over the years and many of these are Amazon affiliate sites. I started developing coaching ebooks and Wordpress plugins in 2010 to share my experiences and knowledge with beginning and experienced internet marketers. A lot of it began as interactions through internet marketing forums from other members that simply wanted help in areas where I had a ton of experience. It's snowballed quite a bit since then, but I still continue to do this to genuinely help others succeed as I have done. I see the way many internet marketing products promise the world and can't even come close to fulfilling those promise. I absolutely refuse to develop products that I wouldn't be happy with myself (and I'm a picky customer). You won't see ridiculous income claims on my websites because I truly have no reason to try to deceive you. I don't have pushy sales tactics because I believe in the freedom to make a choice without being pressured. In fact, I actually want you to buy my plugin because it will help you and for no other reason. This plugin was originally created as a tool to save myself time localizing my own Amazon affiliate websites, so you're not just in control of another piece of software here. This is a finely crafted Wordpress plugin that I would continue to develop for my own use even if nobody ever purchased it. Why? It's powerful, useful, unique and a tremendous time saver. 4 This Wordpress plugin is licensed only to you, a single user. You may not distribute this plugin in any manner. You may use the plugin on as many of your own Wordpress websites as you wish if you have purchased the unlimited domain license. The developers license for the plugin does allow you to install it on client websites and also to include it on websites that you develop and then sell. However, a developers license still does not give you the freedom to actually sell the plugin or to freely distribute it (either of these actions will result in the permanent suspension of a plugin license). If you want to sell the plugin, just promote it through the affiliate program to earn commissions! All plugins are monitored for unauthorized usage. Offending plugin licenses can be remotely deactivated in the event of unauthorized use, so please respect these rules to avoid these problems with your own license. A lot of time and development has gone into this plugin, but the asking price is still extremely reasonable and will remain this way as long as these rules continue to be respected. 5 New Version Releases Local Azon plugin customers receive all future versions free of charge. You can find news for the plugin through your WP Dashboard on any site where you have installed the plugin. When a new version is available for the plugin, it will notify you the same way that free plugins from the WP repository do (just visit the list of installed plugins to see if an update is available). Your original download link for the plugin can also be used to download a fresh copy of the most recent version of the plugin (if you want to install on a new site, for example).

6 Installation This section provides information on how to actually get the plugin uploaded and activated on a new website. Please refer to the chapter on Initial Plugin Setup for additional information on preparing the plugin for it's first use after installation. The first time you install the Local Azon plugin on a website, there are a number of ways to actually upload the plugin, but the easiest and most commonly used method has been described below. Installation Through Wordpress Admin (Easiest) #1. Click Plugins Add New #2. Click Upload #3. Click the Browse Button, then select the downloaded.zip file

8 Initial Plugin Setup Once Local Azon is installed and activated on a Wordpress site, just click on the WP admin sidebar menu for the plugin (or click on the Plugin Update Info link next to the plugin in the installed plugins list). A video is available through my YouTube page and the sales page of this plugin that shows you the setup process, but process has also been explained below. Step #1 Does your website use cloaked Amazon affiliate links? If set to YES, this setting enables Local Azon to detect cloaked Amazon affiliate links. You should not use this feature unless your site actually uses cloaked links though this feature runs code that is not necessary without cloaked links. Do you want to use multiple Amazon affiliate country sites (ie, country targeting)? Most people will want to set this to use multiple Amazon countries (locales). This enables link localization in the plugin. The single country setting can be used if you only want to convert all of the affiliate links on your site to one locale, change the affiliate id of your links, or uncloak all of your links without using the actual link localization features of the plugin. Step #2 In step two, you need to provide your Amazon associate ID for each locale you want to use with the plugin. You also need to set all locales you want to use as Active (set the drop-down to Yes). The list of two letter country codes is already set to a recommended configuration for people that are using all locales with Amazon.com set as the Default. If you will be using the plugin with another configuration, you may want to make changes to the country codes listed for each locale you will be using. When someone visits your site, their country is detected by the plugin. That country is then searched in these lists of country codes for a match, although the Default locale country codes are not used. If a match is found, the visitor will then see an Amazon ad from the locale that matched. Otherwise, the Default locale will be used. A text link is available above the table where you enter all of these settings that will show you a complete list of all available two letter country codes. Step #3 Amazon API Keys An API Key and API Secret Key will need to be provided from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to be able to use the plugin. These keys are free to obtain from Amazon.

9 #1. Login to your Amazon Associates account, then click on Product Advertising API in the header menu on your account page. #2. Click on the Sign Up Now button. #3. Proceed through all three steps in that process. #4. Click on Manage Your Account. #5. Next to Access Identifiers, click the Click here link. This will take you to Amazon Web Services (AWS), where you'll likely need to create an account.

10 #6. Once logged into AWS, generate an Access Key ID under Access Credentials. You will also need the Secret Access Key (Click the Show link to view it). #7. During plugin setup, enter the Access Key ID as the AWS API Key and the Secret Access Key as the AWS API Secret Key.

11 Local Azon Admin Features Once plugin setup has been completed, basically all of the admin features of the plugin (with the exception of a settings page) are actually found on the live website pages instead of within the WordPress admin. Please Note: You must actually be logged into the WP admin account to be able to use the admin features of the plugin (ie, visitors of your site aren't going to see these features). To get started, you simply have to hover your mouse point over any Amazon affiliate link on your site. Once you have hovered over a link, a dialog window will display the Local Azon Link Editor. Local Azon Link Editor The Link Editor is the central hub for the admin features of the plugin. When it first opens, you may notice spinning wheels going down the left-hand side of the dialog window next to each Amazon locale (only active locales are shown here). These spinning wheels indicates whether the locales. If you see a you want to edit HTML will then change to large green checks or red Xs. This active product link is a valid link with each of the Amazon green check, you likely won't need to do anything else unless of specific locale links.

12 If you see a red X, it means that particular product ASIN isn't valid for that locale. See the Redirect section for more information on how to correct these. Next to each country flag, you will also see some text. The top line that says Country Product Link is actually a test Amazon product link that uses the settings for that locale. Below the product link, you'll see more text that indicates whether the locale is operating as normal or has been redirected to a new locale or new product ASIN. Redirect Locale or ASIN The Redirect button next to each locale in the Link Editor opens a new dialog window that gives you two options: search for a new product or redirect the locale. This allows you to control exactly what is happening for each locale for each product you promote on your site. Please Note: Any redirect changes that you make will apply to all links for the same product throughout your entire site! This helps to save you a lot of time so you don't have to repeat this process for other instances of the same product link elsewhere on the same page or other pages of the site. New Product Search Sometimes you can find the exact same product on another Amazon locale listed under a different ASIN (the Kindle Fire is like this, as an example), or you may just want to promote a similar product for specific locales. To search for a new product, just type in a keyword phrase and click the Search button. The search results are then displayed with a Select button next to each result. Simply click on the Select button to choose that product to be used with that locale.

13 Redirect Locale If you cannot find a suitable replacement product to promote for a particular locale, you can choose to redirect that one locale to another locale that does work. Simply select the new locale in the drop-down box and click the Redirect button. Link HTML Editing The HTML button in the Link Editor allows you to change the actual content of each Amazon affiliate link. Please Note: Since the HTML for each link can be different, HTML changes only apply to the specific link that was hovered over to open the Link Editor. Without this restriction, link HTML editing could easily cause major problems on a site. One More Important Note: Before HTML changes are made to any links on your site, it is important to know how the plugin handles HTML changes with links to prevent problems from occurring. A counting system is used to identify the links on each page of your site. With that said, you do not want to make ANY HTML changes to links on your site until you are confident that you are done building the site. This helps to ensure that you will not add new links or change the order of links on the page, which could cause the plugin to confuse links. There are four large text boxes on the HTML editing page. You will notice that there are circles to the left of the label for each text box (an HTML radio element). The circle that is darkened indicates which box will be used when you save the changes. The first box labeled as Custom HTML shows the current HTML content of the link, and the radio element next to the label will always be marked by default since this is the current link content. You can simply edit this box to make changes to the link.

14 The next two boxes have a Product Image label for two different image sizes. These boxes are automatically filled with HTML that will show an image for this product. The image URLs come directly from Amazon API for the product being used. You can use this field as it is or even make changes to it before saving. Saving one of these fields will overwrite any existing HTML for the link. The last box marked as Product Text is filled with the product title text directly from Amazon API for the product being used. You can use this field as it is or even make changes to it before saving. Saving one of these fields will overwrite any existing HTML for the link. If you decide to select the radio element next to anything besides Custom HTML and save the changes, it will overwrite any existing HTML for that link. If you visit the page to edit the HTML again, Custom HTML will be selected again showing the new HTML of the link.

15 Frequently Asked Questions Once Local Azon is installed and activated on a Wordpress site, just click on the WP admin sidebar menu for the plugin (or click on the Plugin Update Info link next to the plugin in the installed plugins list). Local Azon FAQ Q: I have a site that is built with Amazon ads that I created through my affiliate account. Will it work with ExtendAzon? A: As long as the site is built with WordPress and uses standard Amazon affiliate links (no Enhanced / Javascript ads cloaked links are OK), then it will work with Local Azon. Q: I have a WordPress site that is built with the plugin that generates my Amazon ads but it isn't listed as a compatible plugin here. Will Local Azon work with it? A: It should, but there are some exceptions. If the plugin you use generates Enhanced or javascript ads, they will not work with Local Azon (sorry, there is no reliable way around this). If you still aren't sure, try Local Azon and let me know your results. I'm happy to offer a full refund if it won't work for you. Q: I purchased your plugin and downloaded it, but the zipped file I downloaded won't decompress. What do I do?
