Introduction of front -end Introduction About Front-End 1) HTML. 2) Javascript. 3) CSS. 3.1 HTML : HTML is a simple language used to structure hyper linking content that is at the core of most web pages. The whole idea behind HTML since Day One has simply been to apply meaning to chunks of content and link them all together, regardless of platform. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 7
3.2 JAVASCRIPT : JavaScript is the premier client-side scripting language used today on the Web. JavaScript is a new technology-even newer than Java itself. JavaScript was initially developed by Netscape under the name of Live Script. This scripting language was intended to extend the capabilities of basic HTML and provide a partial alternative to using a large number of CGI scripts to process form information and add dynamics to a user s page. After the release of Java, however, Netscape began to work with Sun to Javahence the name change to JavaScript. Both Netscape and Sun jointly released the language, once it was complete. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 8
3.3 Cascading Style Sheet ( CSS ) : CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a language used to present a web page that was introduced to remedy the increasing introduction (by browser manufacturers) and use of presentational HTML elements. Not only does it lend even greater control over the appearance of a web page, it removes the need for presentational elements in the HTML document itself. It has taken a while for browsers to cotton on, but most CSS is now supported by a vast majority of browsers. Its use is not only a genuine option, but also the best option for presenting web pages. As you will see later in this Introduction, this ability to separate content (HTML) and presentation (CSS) leads to great benefits. Style Sheets are powerful mechanism for adding styles to Web documents. They enforce standards and uniformity throughout a web site and provide numerous attributes to create dynamic effects. With Style Sheets, text and image formatting properties can be predefined in a single list. HTML elements on a web page can then be bound to the style sheet. The advantages of a Style Sheet include the ability to make global changes to all documents from a single location. Style Sheet is said to Cascade when they combine to specify the appearance of a page. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 9
DHTML combines HTML with Cascading Style Sheet and Scripting Language. HTML specifies a web page s elements like table, frame, paragraph, bulleted list, etc. Cascading Style Sheet can be used to determine as element s size, color, position and a number of other features. Scripting Languages can be used to manipulate the web page s elements so, that style assigned to them can change your response to a user input. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 10
Introduction About Back-end MySQL :- The MySQL software delivers a very fast, multi-threaded, multi-user, and robust SQL (Structured Query Language) database server.. MySQL is a relational database management system A database is a structured collection of data. It may be anything from a simple shopping list to a picture gallery or the vast amounts of information in a corporate network. To add, access, and process data stored in a computer database, you need a database management system such as MySQL Server. Since computers are very good at handling large amounts of data, database management systems play a central role in computing, as standalone utilities, or as parts of other applications.. MySQL software is Open Source. Open Source means that it is possible for anyone to use and modify the software. Anybody can download the MySQL software from the Internet and use it without paying anything. If you wish, you may study the source code and change it to suit your needs. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 11
The MySQL Database Server is very fast, reliable, and easy to use. If that is what you are looking for, you should give it a try. MySQL Server also has a practical set of features developed in close cooperation with our users. You can find a performance comparison of MySQL Server with other database managers on our benchmark page. MySQL Server works in client/server or embedded systems. The MySQL Database Software is a client/server system that consists of a multi-threaded SQL server that supports different back ends, several different client programs and libraries, administrative tools, and a wide range of application programming interfaces (APIs). A large amount of contributed MySQL software is available. PHP :- To have PHP installed:- A Sure that PHP is maturing as a technology is evidenced by it s totally revmaped and upgraded and support for object-oriented programming principles and improved support for XML. In technical term, PHP S main use is as a cross platform, HTML-Embedded, server side web scripting language. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 12
Cross platform:- Most PHP code can be processed without alteration on computer running many different operating System. For example, a PHP script that runs the linux generally also run well on windows. HTML-Embedded:- PHP code can be return in files containing a mixture of PHP instruction and HTML code. Web scripting language:- PHP program run via a web browser. Server-side:- The PHP programs are run on a server-specifically a web server. You are probably familiar with HTML(Hyper Text Markup Language) it s the main language used to create web page, combining plain text with special tags that tell browser how to treat that text.html is used to described how to different elements in a web page should be displayed, how page should be linked, where to put image, and so on. You can t build a web site like that using raw HTML and that s where PHP comes in. what sort things can you to with it? Well, you can program side that Present data from a wide variety of sources, such as database, files, or even other pages. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 13
Incorporate interactive elements, such as search facilities, message Boards, and straw polls. Enable the user to perform action, such as sending or buying something. Once of the best things about PHP is the large number of internet service provider (ISPs) and web hosting companies that supported it. Today there are hundreds of thousands of developers using PHP, and it s not surprising that there are so many considering that several million sites are reported PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 14

TESTING 12.1 TESTING PLAN Software testing is an important technique for assessing the quality of a software product. Software testing is the process of analyzing a software item to detect the differences between existing and required conditions (that is, bugs) and to evaluate the features of the software item. Software testing is an activity that should be done throughout the whole development process. A software product goes through three levels of testing: Unit testing Software products are normally tested first at the individual component (unit) level. Unit testing (or module testing) is the testing of different units (or modules) of a system in isolation. Integration testing After testing all the components individually the components are slowly integrated and tested at each level of integration. That is called integration testing. System testing Finally the fully integrated system is tested that is called system testing. Software testing is one of the verification and validation, or V&V, software practices PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 32
RISK MANAGEMENT A risk is something that may happen and if it does, will have positive or negative impact on the project. "That may happen" implies a probability of less than 100%. If it has a probability of 100% - in other words it will happen it is an issue. An issue is managed differently to a risk. A risk must also have a probability something above 0%. The second thing to consider from the definition is "will have a positive or negative impact". During the analysis of our whole application, we discovered some of the risk that could affect our application while developing and also while using. 1. Technical Risk 2. Project Risk 3. Political Risk 1) Technical Risk: First the application struck with the problem of the browser because it is depended on the browser technology as the website is going to be opened at the user side in the browser where any user can use any of the browsers available today. Our project is developed under the data documentations list of various hardware products of the user and according to their need 2) Project Risks: As this application is developed for social networking purpose, security has been given special importance. Privacy is a basic requirement expected by the users of this application. 3) Political Risks: There is no need to worry about the political issues here because it is just a website where the political issues may not occur. 34 LIMITATION AND FUTURE ENHANCEMENT No system or software is 100% perfect or reliable in its sense of functionality and performance. There are always small or big bugs in the system. So our system has also some limitations. Chatting is not possible with our site. It is not possible to view colors of newly launched Computers while purchasing the Computer. Future enhancement will include all the functions which we are not able to implement in our system. Like in future we can make the messenger in which it is possible to chat with members of our site. And also try to connect with other messenger. May be in future it is possible to get solution on the spot. PreparedBy:Harshad Khamal &DivyeshDangar Page 34
