Introduction SuperTag Overview SuperTag provides a complete solution for managing third-party tags, custom tags currently hardcoded on site pages, and JavaScript ad tags through a container-tag model. It offers fine-grained controls with a fully asynchronous tag loading framework allowing for the enablement of custom audiences. You have the ability to control throttle, apply frequency caps, select timing and sequencing, and target based on URLs or attributes. Website operators can carefully moderate the way data is provided to measurement companies, social widgets, and others with whom they choose to share data. Think of SuperTag as your server for tags. Benefits of Managing Tags with SuperTag The primary benefits of tag management using SuperTag are: All-in-one solution for seamless audience authoring and audience transport. Precise control of data sharing through selective firing of tags for specific audience segments to be shared with authorized partners. Delivers unique content and experience to specific audiences. Manages and deploys tags easily by having one team create and edit tags (AdOps), while another (IT) QAs and approves deployment for an efficient build/test/deploy process. Deploys tags outside of a development cycle for more rapid tag changes, letting AdOps respond to marketing needs very quickly without involving site developers. Prevents data leakage by never allowing a freestanding, uncontained tag to deploy. Optimizes tag delivery, reducing page load times, increasing site engagement, page views, revenue and SEO rankings. Working With SuperTag and the Salesforce DMP Platform Using SuperTag in combination with Data Sentry helps site operators monitor data collection activity, such as partner chains and latency, on a tag. While Data Sentry allows you to audit who is collecting what, and from where, SuperTag lets you control when and if data is delivered. Site operators can also put SuperTag to use by combining third-party data with their proprietary contextual tagging.

SuperTag User Types: Full Access- Advanced, Full Access, Read Only There are three types of SuperTag users; Full Access-Advanced User, Full Access User, and Read Only User. The core difference between these user types is the extent of their read-write permissions when working with tags, specifically the ability to create a tag with custom code. Full Access-Advanced Users Advanced Users are users who can view, edit, create, and delete tags within SuperTag, as well as edit and create custom tags and Rule Groups. These users have the option of either choosing tags from the Tag Library and then editing the source code if they so wish, or creating a custom tag where they can type code in an editable area. An example user could be an AdOps person with JavaScript skills tasked with creating tags and applying them using SuperTags delivery controls. Full Access Users A Full Access User can only pick from the prebuilt library tags within the Tag Library when creating tags within SuperTag. When they create a tag from the Tag Library, the source code is provided. They then have the ability to apply tag delivery rules by either selecting individual rules or by applying a Rule Group, which is a pre-defined rule package, created by an Advanced User. An example user could be an entry-level AdOps staff member assigned to applying tags (e.g. Google Analytics) to a website. Full Access users would not be tasked with creating custom tags or writing JavaScript by hand for tag delivery. Read Only Users A Read Only user has view-only permissions for SuperTag reports and lists, and cannot edit or create tags or Rule Groups. An example user could be a site operator who wants to monitor tag performance and view tag reports.

5 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 04 III. Getting Started Creating a SuperTag There are two approaches to tag creation: 1. Creating a tag using a Template from the Tag Library 2. Creating a Custom tag by writing your own code Creating a tag using a template from the Tag Library For either approach, first visit Manage > SuperTag: Supertags and click the Create Tag button at the top of the list. This begins the four-step tag creation process: 1. Find a Template 2. Configure 3. Set Rules 4. Save and Publish

6 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 05 Find a Template Select a Library Tag from the Find Template screen. Tag Library The Tag Library provides an easy-to-use list of tags for non-technical users. The Tag Library contains all third-party library tags made available to you. Think of library tags as templates for the tags you would use most often. Examples of third-party tags could be a Google Analytics tag, a Quantcast tag, or a NetProspex tag. Other library tags may include tags designed by Salesforce DMP to enable additional capabilities in the Salesforce DMP. The list can be quickly searched and filtered by tag name, label, description and third-party company. If a library tag is not available, the Template Request button at the top right of the list allows users to provide a description of the library tag that s needed so a Salesforce DMP team member can create it. The list of library tags is continuously growing, so you may see more of them on a regular basis. Labels on library tags help with categorizing and filtering them as the library grows. Any third-party library tags created for one Salesforce DMP client are automatically available to all other Salesforce DMP clients. Selecting a tag, by clicking its Select button, sends Full Access and Full Access-Advanced users to the Configure screen.

7 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 06 Configure the Tag The Configure screen allows setting: Name: The unique name for the tag. This is a required field. From / To (Tag Period): The dates the tag will be active. If an end date is set the tag will cease firing and show up with a red disabled status after that date. Labels: Labels are descriptive terms you create to help organize, classify and search for tags. Tag Target: The <div> ID the tag should deliver to on the page; used primarily for visible tags (such as social sharing widgets) and ad tags. Delivery Method: Script or iframe Delivery Timing: Timing for when the tag will fire on the page Code: The JavaScript of the tag which Advanced Users can edit. Notes: Any descriptive information about the tag including any alerts or warnings you wish to give to other users about it.

8 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 07 Set Rules Rules establish delivery criteria for a tag. An example rule could be to only deliver a tag with a specific daily frequency to a particular segment and not when the user has a particular attribute. Click Add Rule to create a New Rule, or Select from existing Rule Groups. Existing Rule Groups are any set of rules that were previously created and saved. When you create a New Rule, choose a Combine Operator (AND, AND_NOT, OR) then choose from the seven Rule Types: Attribute: Choose from any of your first-party User or Page Attributes and select Is, Is not, or Contains operators. Deliver before or after another tag: Choose to deliver your tag before or after another tag. Daily frequency: Choose from Less than, Is, or Greater than a number of times in 24 hours. Geolocation: Choose a location and select Is, or Is not operators. Segment: Choose from any of your available segments. Throttle percentage of traffic: Set the percentage of users for whom it should fire (useful in A/B testing). URL: Set a URL and select Contains, Matches Regular Expression, or Does Not Contain. Add as many additional rules as needed, separating them with one of the Combine Operators, AND, AND_NOT, or OR. The benefit here is that users are managing tags in the context of their audience. The power lies in creating audience segments, then conditionally fire on that audience segment, allowing for a consolidated approach to determining different segments and managing activity across those segments.

9 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 08 Clicking Select From Existing Rule Groups allows you to choose a previously created Rule Group to attach to the tag. Only one rule group may be attached to a tag. Attempting to add another rule after a rule group has been attached prompts a warning that doing so detaches the rule group from the tag. Saving the Tag Once rules have been set, the last step is to review the Tag Details and save the tag.

10 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 09 Creating a Custom Tag by writing your own code The only difference between creating a custom tag within SuperTag and creating one from the Tag Library is that the code in the Configure step can be edited. Please note that this feature is only available to Full Access-Advanced users. Creating a custom tag is initiated by clicking the Custom Tag button in the Find Template step. Again, follow the same four-step SuperTag creation process. 1. Find a Template 2. Configure (creating your own custom JavaScript code) 3. Set Rules 4. Save and Publish An example use case for creating a custom tag could be to fire a pixel only to a certain segment. For instance, when working with a DSP, you could fire their tracking pixels for the duration of a specific campaign.

11 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 10 Viewing the Tags The List Tags view gives a summary of all tags managed within SuperTag. The list is filterable and searchable, and displays what site the tags are delivered to and whether a tag is enabled (green), disabled (red), or pending approval (yellow). Pending approval will only appear if your workflow is set up for certain users to approve tags before they go live. A tag s details can be expanded to show its full information including its start and end date, and source code. Bulk actions such as enable, disable, delete or approve (if applicable) can be taken by selecting multiple items in the list and clicking the Actions wheel at the top of the list to take action on all selected tags. Depending on the user s permissions, the Actions wheel to the right of an individual tag offers the ability to Edit, Copy, Delete, view History, view Reports, and Inspect that tag. By viewing History, you can track changes to the tag including delivery, targeting and code revisions. Inspect provides information on JavaScript errors, data collection activity and configuration notes.

12 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 11 IV. Creating a Rule Group Full Access-Advanced Users can create a Rule Group by visiting SuperTag > Rule Manager. This presents the list of Rule Groups with the Create Rule Group button at the top of the list. Rule Manager: Full Access-Advanced Users Rule Groups can also be edited or deleted from within the Rule Manager by a Full Access-Advanced User via the Actions wheel. Rule Groups Rule Groups are collections of rules and operators (AND, AND_NOT, OR) that can be applied across multiple tags within SuperTag to customize when and how they fire. Rule Groups are helpful because they allow you to quickly propagate the same set of Rules to multiple tags. Any changes to a Rule Group will automatically be circulated to all tags that use that Rule Group. Click Create Rule Group to launch the Rule Group dialog.

13 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 12 Click on the Add Rule button and start filling in new rules to set up your new Rule Group. You also have the option to Select from Existing Rule Groups to use existing Rule Groups within your new Rule Group. Note: Be aware that if a Rule Group is deleted, and it is currently being used by any other tags, a dialog appears to indicate which tags have that group in use. If the Rule Group you are deleting is not associated with any tags it is immediately deleted without a dialog or message.

14 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 13 V. Validating Your Tags It s always a good idea to test tag functionality before publishing to production. There are multiple ways to run a prepublish test before going live to your production URL. Validating SuperTags Using the Control Tag Helper The Salesforce DMP Konsole provides a Control Tag Helper as a method of viewing delivery status and error status for all of your SuperTag managed tags under Tools > Utilities - Control Tag Helper. Drag the Control Tag Helper bookmarklet into your web browser toolbar, click it from a page on your website and go to the Tags tab. Any tags within SuperTag you created appear in the Tags list along with a yes or no for their delivery, as well as their error status. Targeting to a Test URL It s also possible to push a tag to a targeted URL for testing and QA purposes. To push a tag for testing: 1. Create a new tag in SuperTag 2. Enter a URL parameter on your development environment (e.g.?supertagtest=1) 3. Save the tag and wait 20 minutes. Test by visiting that URL (e.g.

15 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 1 Testing Segment Targeted Tags Tags can be delivered to an audience segment via SuperTag by choosing one or more segments during the Set Rules step of tag creation or editing. If no segments exist, ensure you have access to People > Manage Segments to create them. Once your segment is created and processed, the Salesforce DMP platform will assign the segment a unique ID. Next, enable the segment for testing through the actions gear or bulk actions under Manage Interchange. The segment you selected and enabled for testing gets marked with a flag icon. After adding yourself to the segment, verify the data is available in your browser using Chrome s Developer Tools Console or Firebug s Console tab. Type localstorage.ksegs in the console and press enter to see the relevant segments your browser is in. You should see the segment ID displayed for the segment you expect to be in.

16 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 2 VI. SuperTag Reporting Tag Summary To view a summary of all tags, visit SuperTag > Tag Summary. The Tag Summary view displays a trend chart for Tag Views with a Tag Summary Table below it. The view can be filtered by Site Group, Site, and dates. The Tag Summary Table displays data for: Tag: The tag name hyperlinks to its individual tag report Status: Enabled or Disabled Company: Displays a specific company name for the tag, like Google Analytics, when a Library Tag is used Start Date: When the tag began firing End Date: When the tag has or will stop firing Total Tag Views: Sum of all tag views Average Daily Tag Views: The average daily number of tag firings over the filtered time period Average Daily Uniques: The average daily number of unique users who experienced the tag firing over the selected time period Clicking a tag in the Summary Table displays that tag s individual Tag Report.

17 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 3 Tag Delivery Reports Tag Reporting is available by clicking the Action wheel next to a tag in the List Tags page, or by clicking on a tag s hyperlink from Tag Summary. This action displays a report of how often that tag was fired in a specific time period. This view can be filtered by Site Group, Site, Tag and date range. The Reports view has two sections; Tag Delivery Trend and Tag Delivery. Tag Delivery Trend displays a tag Views and Uniques trend chart for the duration the tag fired. Tag Delivery displays a table of the Views and Uniques details.

18 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 4 Site Speed To view reports on how quickly tags are being delivered, visit SuperTag > Site Speed. The Site Speed report can be filtered by date range, Site, Country, Page View Type (cached/uncached), Navigation Type (direct, reload, back, forward), and Aggregation Type (day, site, country). This report gives details on page load time trends. Numbers for average Page Load Time, Server Time and Client Time are shown at the top above a trend chart for Browser time, HTTP time, TCP/IP time, DNS time and Redirect time. The table at the bottom of the page displays page, client and server times based on the aggregation filter you ve chosen. Page Load Time: This is Server Time plus Client Time Server Time: The time taken for the DNS lookup, redirects (if there are any), TCP/IP and HTTP overhead. Everything up until the browser gets the page. Client Time: The time taken to render the HTML, download all the javascript, css, and images, up until window s load event fires.

19 SALESFORCE DMP SUPERTAG USER GUIDE 5 Tag Inspector Tag Inspector lets you thoroughly test tags to ensure site security prior to pushing any tag to a live environment. Tags that can be tested include library tags, custom tags, or JavaScript code. To use the Tag Inspector: 1. Choose the desired tag from the Tag drop down or paste a custom script within the code box 2. Select the country you wish to validate the tag in 3. Once ready, select the Inspect Tag button 4. Review the JavaScript errors once the tag has processed 5. After your review, determine if the tag should be Enabled or if changes need to be made to the tag
