1 Web Publishing Overview XLReporter produces reports automatically in Excel, PDF and HML formats. As an HTML workbook, the report can be opened in any device that supports a web browser such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones. In this case, XLReporter can also maintain a web site that contains the navigation links to the published web reports. However, in cases when the report needs to be opened in a viewer which provides better controls for the user, the XLReporter s interactive web viewer (iview Web) application can be used. Key Features Publish web reports without any HTML or script programming. Publish a single worksheet or entire workbook as a web report. View web reports while they are being automatically updated. Update a web portal periodically to give access to web pages across the network. View reports on any device supporting a web browser such as tablets and smartphones. Embed a web browser in a HMI/SCADA display to view reports directly in the display. Open the viewer from a HMI/SCADA display to view reports without accessing the Windows file system.
2 Configuration Publish Reports to Web Pages Reports are published as web pages by adding an additional command in the schedule. The SaveBookHTML command saves the entire workbook as a web page. Each worksheet is available as a worksheet tab at the bottom, in the same fashion as Excel. The SaveSheetHTML command saves a single worksheet in the workbook as a web page. These commands are usually scheduled after the report is created. User Account Security In the Project Explorer select Edit, User Accounts. Each User is assigned to a User Group which has specific privileges. Select Edit, User Groups. View Reports with iview Web From the Project Explorer expand View Reports and double-click Web. Note that on a Team Client station, this is performed from the Team Explorer by selecting View Web Reports. In either case, the Interactive Web Viewer (iview Web) is displayed.
3 The Folder Panel at the top left displays a list of all the report folders. Reports that are created automatically by a schedule are contained in Scheduled folder. Note that if subfolders have been configured to be created automatically, they are also listed. Select a folder to display the reports in the Report Panel in the lower left. Reports may be sorted by Name or Modified date. Select a report to display its content. A displayed report can be printed to any networked printer. Website Management As an alternative to iview Web, web pages can be accessed directly from a web browser. In this case, XLReporter can manage a web site that contains the navigation links to the published web reports. From the Project Explorer double-click Website Management. The Appearance tab defines how the home page for the website will look. The Preview button shows a preview of what the home page will look like based on the settings selected. The Content tab defines the folder where the web reports are located and what to include. The Options tab defines additional features of the website. Check Update on content change to automatically update the home page every time a new report is web published. Web Reports on the Local Intranet Web reports can be made available across the intranet by sharing the web folder of the project. However, a much better way to achieve this goal is to use Internet Information Services (IIS). To enable IIS, open the Windows Control Panel and select Programs and Features. IIS is a Windows feature. Click Turn Windows Features on and off to access.
4 Check Internet Information Services and click OK to enable. With IIS installed, in the Project Explorer, under Output Folders for Web click the browse button [ ]. Check Remote web browser access (requires IIS). This will create a virtual directory named XLRwebpublish within IIS. The website can now be viewed from any device connected to the local network. Open the web browser and enter address/xlrwebpublish where IP address is the IP address of the computer where XLReporter is installed. Web Reports on the Internet To make web reports available on the internet the website must be located on a server that is connected to the internet. If the server is external, then it may be necessary to transfer the web site. This can be done using XLReporter s FTP Transfer tool. The initiation of the transfer can be configured as part of a schedule. From the Project Explorer, select FTP Transfer to define a configuration. The transfer is based on the settings in a configuration. To define the FTP server select Edit, Servers. To define a new configuration select Configuration, Add. The Server tab defines which FTP server to transfer to/from and whether to Upload or Download files. Select Upload to upload files from the local machine to the FTP server.
5 The Files tab defines the file(s) to upload to the server. To upload the website, set the Source Folder to Project and select Web. The Target settings define where to upload the files on the FTP server. View Web Reports from a HMI/SCADA Display The iview Web application is a standalone application which can easily be opened from a pushbutton click from a HMI/SCADA display. To open the application depends on when whether it is being used on a non-team or Team station. From a non-team Client, launch C:\XLReporter\bin\XLRxViewWeb.exe where C:\XLReporter is the install folder. From a Team Client, launch C:\Team\XLReporter\bin\XLRxViewWeb.exe. To keep iviewweb on top of an HMI/SCADA display, With iviewweb open, click Options and check Keep display on top. Alternatively, if the HMI/SCADA supports a web browser control, one can be added into a display and configured with the home page as the startup page making the web reports available directly from the HMI/SCADA screen.
