2 Descriptin The Micrblgging web part adds a real time, cntext riented discussin platfrm t SharePint Yu will be able t share any thughts and ideas at yur fingertips. It is useful fr fstering the quick exchange inside a site r in the cntext f sme activity there, and thus cllabratin and crdinatin. Discussins with mst recent replies are shwn at tp. Within the discussins yu see the mst recent replies. Their rder is histrical the lder n tp, the mst recent at bttm. This ensures the sequential readability f the discussin. The standard cnfiguratin f this web part is t shw the pictures f the user prfiles and t have a backgrund clr fr the replies. In case yu dn t have the user prfile pictures n yur SharePint installatin, yu can hide it. The same applies fr the backgrund clr. Yu can hide it at yur cnvenience. Furthermre yu can define hw many discussins will be shwn when lading the page. Discussins and replies can be expanded and cllapsed. Other parameters like update intervals etc. are cnfigurable as well.

3 Prerequisites Befre yu attempt t install the slutins yu need t make sure that yu have the fllwing installed n yur server(s): Micrsft SharePint 2010 Installatin Autmatic Installatin 1. Unpack the VEAMicrBlg.wsp and install2010.bat files frm the Zip Archive and place the 2 files nt yur SharePint Server. 2. Add the Slutin by either running Install2010.bat r manually entering: stsadm - addslutin -filename VEAMicrBlg.wsp 3. Deply the slutin by navigating with yur brwser t Central Administratin > System Settings > Farm Management > Manage farm slutins 4. Yu shuld nw see the VEAMicrBlg.wsp in the farm s slutin stre:

4 5. Click n VEAMicrBlg.wsp t deply the slutin: 6. Prceed t activate the feature by navigating t the Site Actins/Site Settings page in yur tp-level site:

Chse Site cllectin features t navigate t the Site Cllectin Features page: Activate the VEA Micr Blg feature Adding the Web Part t a Page Navigate t a page where yu wuld like t place the web part and chse "Site Actins/Edit Page" Add the web part t the apprpriate zne. The web part is listed in the "VEA" gallery sectin: After adding the Micrblgging web part, yu may prceed t the cnfiguratin f the web part.

6 Web Part Cnfiguratin Cnfigure the fllwing Web Part prperties in the Web Part Editr "Micr Blg Settings" pane sectin as needed: Title: Set the title f yur web part. Gd practice is t select a name representing the cntext f discussin. Hide Prfile Pictures: Select this ptin, if yu dn t want t pst the user prfile pictures r if they are nt available. Settings will nly be visible after refreshing the page. Hide Subblg Backgrund: Select this ptin t discard the backgrund f the replies. My Site Hst URL: Please enter the rt URL f yur My Site Hst here. The URL shuld end with /. Blg Update Interval: Set the update interval t check fr new blg entries. The value is set in secnds. Date Time Update Interval: Set the update interval fr the actual age f discussins and replies. Visible Sub Blg Entries: Define the default f hw many replies yu will see per discussin. Navigating the replies sectin: Click n the green replies link t cllapse replies. Click it again t expand replies. Click n t see all replies. The green link shws:.click n t switch back t the mst recent replies nly. Mre Entries Cunt: Define the number f additinal discussins t be shwn, when clicking the link at the bttm left f the web part. Start Entries Cunt: Define default number f discussins t be shwn, when page lads. Navigating the discussin: Click n Mre Entries Cunt. Click n shwn. t expand yur discussins by the number defined in t switch back t the riginal number f discussins Identifier: This is a unique identifier fr each micr blg. Yu can add additinal Micr Blgging Web Parts t different pages f the same site. If yu want t refer them t the same discussins, yu need t cpy and paste this identifier License Key: Here yu enter the license key fr yur purchased web part.
