Section Software Applications and Operating Systems - Detail Criteria Supporting Features Remarks and explanations (a) When software is designed to run on a system that has a keyboard, product functions shall be executable from a keyboard where the function itself or the result of performing a function can be discerned textually. The Adobe Captivate 9 interface does provide some keyboard access through the application menu and keyboard shortcuts. However, a rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given for the following reasons: It is not possible to move focus between the canvas and panels using the keyboard alone. When selecting the standard shortcut F6 to navigate between application panes, the window to import audio opens instead. The controls in the top menu, such as Slides and Record, some controls in the Properties and Timings panel, such as Style button and Basic combo-box, the Help link in windows, such as the Object Style Manager and Advanced Audio Management and controls, such as Open Aggregator Project, at the top of the Aggregate Project window do not receive keyboard focus. The Preferences window allows tabbing between controls in the right pane and use of the arrow keys between items in the left pane but lacks keyboard access to move between the two panes. The close buttons for the Branching View, Skin Editor, Advanced Interaction, Comments, Swatch Manager, Find and Replace, and HTML5 Tracker windows cannot be selected with the keyboard. To close these windows, keyboard-only and assistive technology users must find the correct window from the main menu, then navigate to and close the window from the menu, which is cumbersome. Users are unable to hide or lock individual sections of slides in the Timeline window nor are they able navigate between the slide content section and the timeline in seconds section with the keyboard. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 2 of 19

The right click menu that is available from the Filmstrip panel or the canvas cannot be opened with standard keyboard shortcuts of Shift+F10 or the Windows application key. None of the windows can be moved or resized using the keyboard. Most interactive content in the Flash presentation is accessible with the keyboard. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given for the following reasons: Focus remains in the web address bar of a browser until moved with a mouse into the presentation. The Click Box, Hot Spot, and Rollover content controls cannot be activated with the keyboard. The second radio button in the Multiple Choice and True/False quizzes cannot be selected. The Sequence quiz options cannot be moved using the keyboard. (b) Applications shall not disrupt or disable activated features of other products that are identified as accessibility features, where those features are developed and documented according to industry standards. Applications also shall not disrupt or disable activated features of any operating system that are identified as accessibility features where the application programming interface for those accessibility features has been documented by the manufacturer of the operating system and is available to the product developer. Adobe Captivate 9 does not disable or disrupt some activated accessibility features of the platform such as Sticky keys and Toggle keys However, the application does not follow the High Contrast setting of the Operating System such as Windows High Contrast #1. A is given as the Flash presentation does not inherit the High Contrast setting of the Operating System such as Windows High Contrast #1. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 3 of 19

(c) A well-defined on-screen indication of the current focus shall be provided that moves among interactive interface elements as the input focus changes. The focus shall be programmatically exposed so that Assistive Technology can track focus and focus changes. Adobe Captivate 9 does provide a welldefined on-screen indication of focus for some interactive elements. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given as some of the elements in the Advanced Action and Variables windows have poor visual and programmatic focus. Most controls receive visual and programmatic focus with the exception of the Click Box, Hot Spot, and Rollover content. (d) Sufficient information about a user interface element including the identity, operation and state of the element shall be available to Assistive Technology. When an image represents a program element, the information conveyed by the image must also be available in text. Adobe Captivate 9 does contain sufficient information about many user interface elements including the identity, operation and state of the elements. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given for the following reasons: Some of the controls in the Properties and Timing panel do not contain accessible names, such as the fly out menus associated with Shadow and Reflection and the No Transition combo-box. Some of the form elements in the Object Style Manager window, such as Size spin box and the Image bluebox, do not have labels. Some of the form elements in the Preferences window, such as the Display for secs edit field and the Preloader form field, do not have labels. The controls Slides, Text, Objects, Interactions, Media, Preview, and Publish do not have accessible names. The elements in the Category pane of the Preference window do not have accessible names. The fields on the Global Preferences: Recording: Keys pane of Preferences Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 4 of 19

show a role of client and do not have text names. The first and second panes in the Object Style Manager window, e.g., Standard Objects and [Default Text Butt...], do not provide accessible names for the controls in the panes. The icons in the window that allow users to select a presentation type when the application is first opened do not contain roles or accessible names. The icons used to represent the different responsive web formats do not contain accessible names. The slides in the Filmstrip panel do not contain accessible names. Selecting the Play Slide control on a slide containing audio with closed captions does not display the closed captions. Most controls in a Flash presentation do contain sufficient information about a user interface element including the identity, operation and state of the element. However, a rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given for the following reasons: The radio buttons are not properly grouped for the True/False and Multiple Choice quizzes. Elements, such as the Search field in the Table of Contents and the bookmarks, do not contain the proper roles or text descriptions. Assistive technologies do not identify information associated with Click Box, Hot Spot, or Rollover content. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 5 of 19

(e) When bitmap images are used to identify controls, status indicators, or other programmatic elements, the meaning assigned to those images shall be consistent throughout an application's performance. Supports Supports Adobe Captivate 9 uses bitmap images identifying controls, status indicators, and other programmatic elements consistently throughout the application. Controls in Captivate 9 that are applied consistently will be generated consistently in the Flash presentation. (f) Textual information shall be provided through operating system functions for displaying text. The minimum information that shall be made available is text content, text input caret location, and text attributes. Adobe Captivate 9 does provide some textual information through operating system functions for displaying text. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given, as the content in the windows Send for Shared Review does not provide text or text location to screen reader users. Supports Text information generated from Captivate 9 using the Accessibility feature does provide content, caret location, and attributes in a Flash presentation. (g) Applications shall not override user selected contrast and color selections and other individual display attributes. Does not support Captivate 9 does not support the Windows OS high contrast settings selected by users. Does not support Flash presentations do not support the Windows OS high contrast settings selected by users. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 6 of 19

(h) When animation is displayed, the information shall be displayable in at least one non-animated presentation mode at the option of the user. Supports The Adobe Captivate 9 interface does not use animation other than to allow the user to preview the slides, which may contain author generated animated content. Controls are provided to control playback of the timeline. Supports Adobe Captivate 9 provides a method to display animation in a non-animated mode for Flash presentations. Authors can choose to not use animation and can require the user use a keystroke or click the mouse in order to continue to the next slide. (i) Color coding shall not be used as the only means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element. Supports Supports The Adobe Captivate 9 user interface does not use color as the only means of conveying information. Adobe Captivate 9 provides ways for authors to specify text equivalents when color is used to convey information. (j) When a product permits a user to adjust color and contrast settings, a variety of color selections capable of producing a range of contrast levels shall be provided. Supports Not applicable Adobe Captivate 9 does not permit the user to adjust color and contrast settings. Adobe Captivate 9 does not provide a method to adjust color and contrast settings in Flash presentations. (k) Software shall not use flashing or blinking text, objects, or other elements having a flash or blink frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz. Supports The Adobe Captivate 9 user interface does not use flashing or blinking text, objects, or other elements. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 7 of 19

Supports Adobe Captivate 9 provides a method to display non-flashing or blinking text and objects in Flash presentations. (l) When electronic forms are used, the form shall allow people using Assistive Technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. Adobe Captivate 9 does allow access by Assistive Technologies to some of the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given for the following reasons: The controls Slides, Text, Objects, Interactions, Media, Preview, and Publish do not have accessible names. Some of the controls in the Properties and Timing panel do not contain accessible names, such as the fly out menus associated with Shadow and Reflection and the No Transition combo-box. The slides in the Filmstrip panel do not contain accessible names. The icons used to represent the different responsive web formats do not contain accessible names. The elements in the Category pane of the Preference window do not have accessible names. The first and second panes in the Object Style Manager window, e.g., Standard Objects and [Default Text Butt...], do not provide accessible names for the controls in the panes. Some of the form elements in the Object Style Manager window, such as Size spin box, do not have labels. Some windows, such as Advanced Interaction and HTML5 Tracker, do not receive focus when opened. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 8 of 19

Most of the form fields expose information to assistive technology needed to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. A rating of supports with exceptions has been given as the radio buttons in the Multiple Choice and True/False quizzes are not properly grouped. Section Web-based Internet information and applications - Detail Criteria Supporting Features Remarks and explanations (a) A text equivalent for every non-text element shall be provided (e.g., via "alt", "longdesc", or in element content). An accessible name and description can be added to most images and non-text objects, which is then inherited by the HTML presentation. A rating of Supports with Exceptions is given as some features, such as the Hotspots and Rollover objects, cannot be assigned an accessible name or accessible description. (b) Equivalent alternatives for any multimedia presentation shall be synchronized with the presentation. Supports Adobe Captivate 9 enables authors to create, edit and export captions along with recording audio tracks. The captions can be synchronized with the presentation and within multimedia within a presentation. Audio can be created that provides sufficient description for people who cannot see the video portion of multimedia. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 9 of 19

(c) Web pages shall be designed so that all information conveyed with color is also available without color, for example from context or markup. Supports Adobe Captivate 9 enables authors to create presentations where color is not used as the only means of conveying information. (d) Documents shall be organized so they are readable without requiring an associated style sheet. Adobe Captivate 9 enables authors to define the focus order of buttons through the tab order panel. The reading order of content is also controlled by the placement of content on the slide. However, a rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given as the Playback controls are announced before the contents of the slide and because the focus order of only buttons can be controlled through the tab order panel. (e) Redundant text links shall be provided for each active region of a server-side image map. Not applicable Adobe Captivate 9 does not create serverside image maps that are inherited by HTML presentations. (f) Client-side image maps shall be provided instead of server-side image maps except where the regions cannot be defined with an available geometric shape. Not applicable Adobe Captivate 9 does not create clientside image maps that are inherited by HTML presentations. (g) Row and column headers shall be identified for data tables. Not applicable Adobe Captivate 9 does not have a capability to add data tables that would be inherited by HTML presentations. (h) Markup shall be used to associate data cells and header cells for data tables that have two or more logical levels of row or column headers. Not applicable Adobe Captivate 9 does not have a capability to add data tables that would be inherited by HTML presentations. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 10 of 19

(i) Frames shall be titled with text that facilitates frame identification and navigation has been applied as Captivate 9 outputs the Web object in HTML into an untitled iframe. A title can be added manually by the author after generation of the HTML content. (j) Pages shall be designed to avoid causing the screen to flicker with a frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz. Supports By default Captivate 9 does not create content that causes the screen to flicker at a frequency greater than 2Hz or lower than 55Hz. (k) A text-only page, with equivalent information or functionality, shall be provided to make a web site comply with the provisions of this part, when compliance cannot be accomplished in any other way. The content of the textonly page shall be updated whenever the primary page changes. Not applicable Adobe Captivate 9 does not output a textonly page. (l) When pages utilize scripting languages to display content, or to create interface elements, the information provided by the script shall be identified with functional text that can be read by Assistive Technology. By default Captivate 9 does display content, create interface elements, and provide information with JavaScript that can be read by Assistive Technology. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given for the following reasons: Several interactive elements are generated that are accessible only with a mouse, such as Rollover content and Hot Spots. Several elements do not contain roles to allow users to determine how to interact with the elements, such as the Bookmarks in a Table of Contents. Some elements do not provide a visual indication when they receive keyboard focus, such as the radio buttons in a True and False quiz. Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 11 of 19

(m) When a web page requires that an applet, plug-in or other application be present on the client system to interpret page content, the page must provide a link to a plug-in or applet that complies with (a) through (l). Supports For Flash movies generated in Adobe Captivate 9 a plug-in detection script is included. If the Flash plug- in is not detected in the user's browser a link to download the plug-in is available. (n) When electronic forms are designed to be completed on-line, the form shall allow people using Assistive Technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. Controls in the Captivate 9 do provide information to Assistive Technology users about how to complete the forms and the form fields. A rating of Supports with Exceptions has been given as some form fields, such as on the Short Answer quiz, do not have labels and the radio buttons on the True and False quiz are not properly grouped. (o) A method shall be provided that permits users to skip repetitive navigation links. Does not support Adobe Captivate 9 does not provide a method to allow users to bypass the Playback controls when users transition to a new slide or when the Table of Contents remains visible on the page. (p) When a timed response is required, the user shall be alerted and given sufficient time to indicate more time is required. Supports Playback controls in the Adobe Captivate 9 allow users to pause slides and move forward or backward through them. Authors can include time limits for responses, but this is optional. Note to : The Board interprets paragraphs (a) through (k) of this section as consistent with the following priority 1 Checkpoints of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG 1.0) (May ) published by the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium: Paragraph (a) - 1.1, (b) - 1.4, (c) - 2.1, (d) - 6.1, (e) - 1.2, (f) - 9.1, (g) - 5.1, (h) - 5.2, (i) , (j) - 7.1, (k) Adobe Captivate 9 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template Page 12 of 19
