5 Abut Autmate Ops Cnsle Abut Autmate Ops Cnsle Overview Autmate Ops Cnsle is a simple yet intuitive web-based interface that allws yu t cnveniently mnitr, cntrl, and manage yur Autmate Enterprise resurces anywhere, at any time, via a web brwser. Yu can use the Ops Cnsle t access infrmatin abut yur Wrkflws, Tasks, Prcesses, Agents, and system resurces fr each f yur Autmate Enterprise installatins s yu can quickly ascertain the verall status f yur autmatin envirnments, all frm a single lcatin. Yu can als use it t manually execute yur wrkflws r run individual tasks r prcesses n specified agents. Dashbard The Ops Cnsle cmes equipped with a Dashbard and a variety f Widget cntrls that allws yu t actively mnitr agent activities, deviatins, queued wrkflws, run statistics, and a variety f ther system related data that can be f crucial imprtance. Yu can chse which widgets t use and custmize their size t better manage the type and amunt f data t be displayed n the dashbard. With all f this infrmatin in ne lcatin, yu can quickly detect and crrect any prblems that may ccur. Sidebar Menu The sidebar menu enables easy navigatin thrughut the varius sectins f the Ops Cnsle. Each sectin displays specific types f infrmatin that yu can use t identify errrs, failed executins, and perfrmance issues. Yu can narrw the scpe f infrmatin in these sectins, and set the refresh rate t update the infrmatin nly as frequently as yu need it. All f this infrmatin helps yu t better balance yur system wrklad, trublesht prblems, and schedule future wrkflw executins mre efficiently. Benefits With the Autmate Ops Cnsle, yu can: Manually run wrkflws, tasks r prcesses. Mnitr active instances f wrkflws, tasks r prcesses. Track histrical data regarding previus executins f wrkflws, tasks r prcesses. View queued wrkflws r frecast future wrkflw executins. View imprtant statistics, such as ttal number f active instances, queued wrkflws and cnnected agents. View infrmatin abut past and present activities that ccurred n a specific agent. Examine the hardware perfrmance f yur Autmate Enterprise envirnment. Track wrkflw r task deviatin t gather accurate runtime metrics and determine whether wrkflws and tasks are perfrming as expected. As lng as yu have a cmputer cnnected t the Internet and a web brwser, yu have the freedm t access yur Autmate Enterprise systems frm a single lcatin, 24 hurs a day, 7 days a week. User Guide page: 1

Befre yu can use the Ops Cnsle t mnitr and cntrl yur Autmate Enterprise resurces, yu must first d the fllwing: Enable API Security in Autmate Enterprise Management Cnsle. Establish a cnnectin between Ops Cnsle and Autmate Enterprise. API SECU RITY API Security gives administratrs the ability t manage and prtect Autmate Enterprise API resurces thrugh encryptin and authenticatin. With Autmate Enterprise Standard Editin, yu must first turn RESTful API n in rder t expse the API in Ops Cnsle. With the Enterprise Editin, yu als have the capability f assigning elements f authrity t users r user grups based n the amunt f access they shuld have n specific API lists when using Ops Cnsle. T turn n RESTful API (Standard Editin): 1. Frm Autmate Enterprise Management Cnsle, navigate t Optins -> Server Settings -> API Security. 2. Frm the API Security page, add a check-mark t the ptin Turn RESTful API n (turned ff by default). T turn n RESTful API and set API permissins (Enterprise Editin): 1. Frm Autmate Enterprise Management Cnsle, navigate t Optins -> Server Settings -> API Security. 2. Frm the API Security page, add a check-mark t the ptin Turn RESTful API n (turned ff by default). 3. D ne f the fllwing: Select the desired user r grup frm the Available Grup/User Name (tp left) pane and click Add t add it t the Selected Grup/User Name (tp right) pane. Duble-click a user r grup frm the Available Grup/User Name pane. This will add it t the Selected Grup/User Name pane. User Guide page: 2

Select the user r grup frm the Selected Grup/User Name pane and fr each permissin level in the Permissins (bttm) pane, specify whether that user/grup shuld be allwed r denied access t the resurce. 5. When finished, click OK t save yur settings. AU TOMATE ENTERPRISE CONNECTION Befre yu can use the Ops Cnsle, yu must establish a cnnectin between Ops Cnsle and Autmate Enterprise. This can be dne frm the Ops Cnsle's Prduct Cnnectins r Quick Start page. T establish a cnnectin frm the Prduct Cnnectins page: 1. Frm Ops Cnsle, navigate t Server Settings -> Admin Settings -> Prduct Cnnectins. User Guide page: 3

8 Getting Started Guide 2. Click Add. This pens the New Prduct Cnnectin page. 3. Enter the fllwing parameters: Cnnectin Type: The type f cnnectin t establish. Yu must select the ptin Autmate Enterprise as the cnnectin type. Address: The cmputer name r IP address f the cmputer where Autmate Enterprise is installed. Prt: The cmmunicatin prt t use fr this cnnectin. Alias: The display name t assciate with this Autmate Enterprise cnnectin. This name will be used thrughut the interface as a way t identify this cnnectin. User Name fr Guest Access: A valid user name used t lg nt Autmate Enterprise. Passwrd fr Guest Access: The passwrd t authenticate the user name entered abve. Cnfirm Passwrd: Re-enter the passwrd as a frm f cnfirmatin. 4. Click Save t save yur settings. T establish a cnnectin frm the Quick Start page: 1. Frm Ops Cnsle, select Quick Start under the Autmate Enterprise menu. User Guide page: 4

The Quick Start page als allws yu t create a new cnnectin that uses the same prperties as yur default Autmate Enterprise set via the Default Autmate Enterprise parameter in the Preferences page. T establish a cnnectin that uses default server prperties: 1. In the Autmate Enterprise Address parameter, enter the cmputer name r IP address f the cmputer where Autmate Enterprise is installed. 2. Click Add with Defaults. All necessary prperties such as Prt, Alias, User Name and Passwrd will be retrieved frm the default Autmate Enterprise. The new cnnectin will appear under the Available Autmate Enterprises sectin. User Guide page: 5

10 Hme Hme The Autmate Ops Cnsle Hme page cntains tw main displays, Autmate Enterprise Statuses and Autmate Ops Cnsle License. T access the Hme page, frm the main menu, select Hme. Autmate Enterprise Statuses The Autmate Enterprise Statuses sectin displays imprtant statistics abut yur autmatin envirnment in an easy t read interface. The fllwing describes the available statistics shwn by the Autmate Enterprise Statuses sectin. Lifetime (Wrkflws, Tasks, Prcesses): Displays the ttal number f wrkflws, tasks and prcesses that ran ever since the start f the service. This includes wrkflws, tasks r prcesses that ran successfully, failed r abrted. Cnnected Agents: Displays the number f presently cnnected agents. This includes task agents and prcess agents. Glbal Triggering: Displays whether glbal triggering is currently turned On r Off. Peak Wrkflws : Displays the highest number f wrkflws that the server ever ran simultaneusly ever since the start f the service. Queued Wrkflws: Displays the ttal number f wrkflws that are currently in a queued state. Active Wrkflws: Displays the ttal number f wrkflws that are currently in a running state. Active Tasks: Displays the ttal number f tasks that are currently in a running state. Active Prcesses: Displays the ttal number f prcesses that are currently in a running state. Autmate Ops Cnsle License The Autmate Ops Cnsle License sectin displays previus and current license infrmatin and allws yu t apply a new license. User Guide page: 6

12 Preferences Preferences The Preferences page allws yu t set default time zne, date frmat, and server preferences. It als allws yu t indicate whether aut-refresh mde shuld be turned n r ff by default and set the default time interval in minutes between each aut-refresh. T access the Preferences page, click Preferences under the Autmate Enterprise menu. Available Preferences: Belw describes available preferences: Time Zne: Specifies which time zne shuld be bserved. The available ptins are: Brwser Time Zne - The client lcal time zne will be bserved. Server Offset - The server time zne ffset will be bserved, which is the difference between lcal time and server time. Select this ptin if yur server time differs frm yur lcal time due t being in a different time zne. Date Frmat: Indicates the frmat that dates shuld be displayed by default. The available ptins are: Mnth/Day/Year Day/Mnth/Year Year/Mnth/Day Default Autmate Enterprise: Specifies the Autmate Enterprise t identify as default in places where server selectin is available, such as in the settings f each Widget. Click Lk Up t select the Autmate Enterprise yu wish t set as default. User Guide page: 8

13 Preferences Aut-Refresh: Specifies whether aut-refresh mde shuld be turned r by default in places where aut-refresh is available. Interval (in Minutes): Specifies the default time interval in minutes between each aut-refresh. Upn cmpletin, click Save t save changes. User Guide page: 9

14 Autmate Enterprise Diagnstics Autmate Enterprise Diagnstics Autmate Enterprise is essentially a cllectin f individual cmpnents that wrk tgether t act as ne chesive unit. Cmpnents such as the management server, executin server, agents and management tls cmmunicate with each ther via TCP/IP, whether remtely r n the lcal system. This enables yu t custmize installatin f each cmpnent t best fit yur rganizatin's needs. The Autmate Enterprise Diagnstics page helps yu evaluate and mnitr the hardware perfrmance f yur Autmate Enterprise envirnment. Yu can view memry and CPU usage as well as handle and thread cunts cnsumed by yur Autmate Enterprise management and executin servers. The data is presented in a manner that's easy t cnvey and manage. T access the Autmate Enterprise Diagnstics page, click Autmate Enterprise Diagnstics under the Autmate Enterprise menu. General The General sectin displays the default Autmate Enterprise frm which diagnstics data are gathered. If multiple Autmate Enterprise installatins exist, a default can be cnfigured via the Default Autmate Enterprise parameter lcated in the Preferences page. Executin User Guide page: 10

15 Autmate Enterprise Diagnstics The Executin sectin displays executin server diagnstics. The executin server is respnsible fr cmmunicating infrmatin with regards t which agent shuld execute the prper wrkflw bjects, and thereafter, transmits all executin statistics back t the management server. Autmate Enterprise agents cmmunicate directly with the executin server. Management The Management sectin displays management server diagnstics. The management server is respnsible fr string infrmatin regarding wrkflw bjects as well as audit and executin data. It is basically the repsitry ff all Autmate Enterprise infrmatin. The Autmate Enterprise Management Cnsle and Wrkflw Designer cmmunicates directly with the management server. Diagnstics Data Belw describes the hardware data being mnitred: CPU Percentage: Displays the ttal CPU percentage being used by the management r executin server. The percentage refers t hw much f the individual CPU s capacity is in use. CPU percentage is typically used t track CPU perfrmance regressins r imprvements when running Autmate Enterprise wrkflws, tasks r prcesses. Private Memry - Displays the private memry size (in megabytes) used by the management r executin server. The private memry, als knwn as private wrking set, is the amunt f "real" memry that can nly be used by the prcess it is allcated t. Threads - Displays the number f threads being used by the executin r management server. A thread is a part f a prgram that can execute independently f ther parts. Operating systems that supprt multithreading enable threaded parts f a prgram t execute cncurrently. Handles - Displays the handle cunt being used by the executin r management server. A handle is an element that enables a prgram t access a specific resurce, such as a library functin. T refresh the infrmatin, simply Click the Refresh buttn lcated at the tp f the page. 16 Quick Start Quick Start Befre yu can use Autmate Ops Cnsle t mnitr and cntrl yur Autmate Enterprise resurces, yu must first establish a cnnectin between the Ops Cnsle and Autmate Enterprise. The Quick Start page allws yu t quickly and easily set up cnnectins t existing Autmate Enterprises r create cnnectins t new nes. Yu can create guest r temprary cnnectins which can be saved with the same prperties cnfigured fr yur default cnnectin. In additin, yu can update the user name and passwrd f existing prfiles. Saved cnnectins appear as prfiles under the Available Autmate Enterprises sectin. Yu can expand a prfile t view r edit its user name r passwrd. T access the Quick Start page, click Quick Start under the Autmate Enterprise menu. Adding Autmate Enterprise Cnnectin Yu can create a cnnectin with a whle new set f prperties r create ne that uses the same prperties as yur default Autmate Enterprise set via the Default Autmate Enterprise parameter in the Preferences page. T create a cnnectin with new server prperties: 1. Click Add BPA Server. This displays the new cnnectin settings. 2. Enter the fllwing parameters: Cnnectin Type: The type f cnnectin t establish. T update an existing prfile: 1. Click the Expand buttn assciated t the prfile yu wish t update. 2. Enter the new user name and/r passwrd in the apprpriate fields. 3. 18 Prduct Cnnectins Prduct Cnnectins The Prduct Cnnectins page allws yu t create a new cnnectin between Ops Cnsle and Autmate Enterprise, as well as edit r delete existing cnnectins. Fr cnvenience, each cnnected system shws their installed prducts in the frm f an icn. Hver yur muse cursr ver an icn t view the name f the assciated prduct. Yu can discnnect r recnnect existing cnnectins at any time. T access the Prduct Cnnectins page, frm the main menu, navigate t Server Settings -> Admin Settings -> Prduct Cnnectins. T set up a cnnectin t Autmate Enterprise, see Adding an Autmate Enterprise Cnnectin. Fllw these steps t define an Autmate Enterprise cnnectin: 1. Frm the Prduct Cnnectins page, click Add. This pens the New Prduct Cnnectin page. 2. Enter the fllwing prperties: Cnnectin Type: The type f cnnectin t establish. Yu must select the ptin Autmate Enterprise as the cnnectin type. 20 Dashbards Dashbards Overview Tday's data driven rganizatins require high-perfrmance prcessing f infrmatin that is displayed in a dynamic fashin. The Dashbard is an executive interface that ffers this capability by prviding graphical representatins f real-time data, histrical events, and perfrmance metrics which are all accessible frm a central lcatin. It delivers greater visibility and cntrl f critical business prcesses, allwing yu t spt trends, react quickly t prblems and make infrmed decisins based n the infrmatin yu see at a glance. The dashbard is made up f ne r mre custmizable Widgets, which are gadgets that presents specific data types in varius frmats, such as charts, tables r graphs. Widgets prvide "snapshts" f yur wrk envirnment and helps yu keep an eye n yur wrkflws and the lgical tasks, prcesses, and cnditins that they crdinate. T access the Dashbards page, frm the side menu, click Dashbard under the Autmate Enterprise menu, then select the dashbard yu wish t view frm the list. If the menu n the left is hidden, click the Menu buttn in the upper left crner t shw it. Fr mre details, see Managing Dashbards. Dashbard Ntes: User Guide page: 16

21 Dashbards Yu can create mre than ne dashbard and add as many widgets t a dashbard as needed. Any cmbinatin f widgets can be added t a dashbard, including widgets frm ther prducts r duplicate widgets. Dashbards are exclusive t the prfile that is currently lgged n. Hwever, yu can share them with thers r keep them private, as needed. Users lgging n with the guest prfile can view nly thse dashbards marked as Guest. T view a list f available Autmate Enterprise widgets, see Autmate Enterprise Widget Descriptins. Widgets Available Widgets Tasks Prcesses Wrkflws Managing Dashbards Yu can create as many dashbards as required by yur department r rganizatin. After yu add a dashbard, yu can change its layut and settings at any time by custmizing it. Dashbards are private t yu until yu share them. If yu develp a dashbard that may be useful t ther users, yu have several ptins fr sharing it. Yu can als send a snapsht f yur Dashbard data via r generate a PDF file t be distributed hwever yu please. Simple instructins fr wrking with dashbards are included belw. Creating a Dashbard 1. Click Dashbards frm the sidebar menu. 2. Click Add n the Dashbards page. 3. In the Name field, enter a unique name fr the dashbard. 4. Click the Shared buttn t On t allw thers t view this dashbard (set t Off by default). 5. Click the Guest buttn t On t allw users wh lg n with the Guest prfile t view this dashbard (set t Off by default). Guest users can nly view dashbards marked as Guest. 6. Select a layut ptin under Layut. 7. Click Save t save yur settings. After yu create the dashbard, yu need t add widgets t it. User Guide page: 17

22 Dashbards Custmizing a Dashbard One easy way t custmize a dashbard is t rearrange the widgets n it. Simply click and hld the widget title bar and drag it where yu want it. Hwever, keep in mind that if yu're ging t view this n a mbile device, the widgets will display in rder by clumn (first, secnd, third). Fr ther changes: 1. Click Dashbards under the HelpSystems insite menu. 2. Click the dashbard name. 3. Click the buttn. 4. Type a new dashbard Name. 5. Click the Shared buttn t allw thers t see this dashbard. 6. Click the Guest buttn t allw users wh lg n with the Guest prfile t see this dashbard. The nly thing Guest users can d is view dashbards marked as Guest. 7. Select a different layut under the Layut ptin. 8. Click Save t save changes. Nte: Yu can nly custmize dashbards that yu've created. Shared dashbards created by anther user are view-nly. Deleting a Dashbard Yu can delete ne r mre dashbards; hwever, yu can nly delete dashbards that yu've created. Shared dashbards created by anther user are view-nly. 1. Click Dashbards under the HelpSystems insite menu. 2. Click the checkbx lcated at the very left f each dashbard entry yu wish t delete. T select all entries, click the tp-mst Select All checkbx. 3. Click the Delete that appears n the title bar. A dialg bx pens t cnfirm the peratin. 4. Click Delete t cmplete the prcess. Widgets Available Widgets User Guide page: 18

23 Dashbards Widgets After yu create a dashbard, yu need t add widgets t it. Widgets are the actual items that display realtime data, histrical events, and perfrmance metrics that appear n the dashbard. Mst widgets are interactive. Fr a list f available Autmate Enterprise widgets, see Autmate Enterprise Widget Descriptins. Simple instructins fr wrking with dashbard widgets are included in the fllwing sectins. Adding Autmate Enterprise Widgets t the Dashbard Yu can add as many widgets as yu need t yur dashbard. Fr many f the widgets, yu can even add mre than ne f each kind. But, be aware that the number f widgets n the page des affect the respnse time. Als, yu can nly add widgets t dashbards that yu've created. Shared dashbards created by anther user are view-nly. 1.
