4 IMPORTANT INFORMATION HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR IVET INSTITUTE ASSESSMENTS As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) the IVET Institute is required to ensure that all of our VET in school students complete compliant assessments that have been thoroughly mapped in accordance with ASQA s (the National VET regulator) requirements. This assessment must be completed for every student for every unit of competency completed. Your students will be provided with all assessment materials online through IVET s on line portal IVETConnect (www,ivetinstitute.com.au). Students are required to log in with the secure password given to them by IVET and complete all of their assessment online. Each student is required to complete every assessment that is part of your schools program. All assessors are required to mark the students work on line and competency cannot be achieved until this occurs. All other materials provided by IVET, including student and teacher resources, are to support you in your teaching; we do not require any tasks, assignments or activities from these resources. LOGGING IN 1. Prior to completing any assessment tasks, trainer must first set up their classes on line. This is a very easy process and can be completed in three simple steps. 2. Trainers are to access the IVET Connect logo located on the IVET Institute website Trainers will need to enter their Login and Password details to access IVET Connect. 5 HOW TO SET UP A CLASS VET Information and Communication Technology YEAR 2 (Units 3&4)- TEACHER RESOURCE Trainers are to then select the icon at the top of the triangle named SET UP AND MANGE MY CLASSES and follow the structure of setting up a class. Only students names and your class name need to be entered. HOW TO COMPLETE AND ACCESS TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS The teacher dashboard allows trainers to access all of their qualifications in PDF format that have been stored from past years as well as complete new qualification updates. Define the term mark-up language A Markup language is a type of computer language that is used to specify the type of content that will appear on a web page. 2. What content is included in the page title? The name of the web page, as it will appear in the top bar of the browser window. 3. What are two reasons why headings should be placed on a web page? To make finding sections of the page easier for the user, and to allow search engines to identify the content on your page. 4. Explain the difference between an ordered and unordered list. An ordered list uses numbers or letters in descending order, whereas an unordered list uses dot points or boxes. 5. What is the purpose of a web authoring tool? Provide an example. To provide the necessary interface and features to create a web page. Examples include Adobe DreamWeaver or Notepad Why is a web browser required for web page development? To view the effect changes in the HTML is having on the web page. 7. What is the purpose of a web hosting service? For developers to upload websites for public access. 8. What does a FTP client do? Who maintains the HTML and CSS specifications? The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). 3. Describe the three parts of the HTML syntax. The three parts of the HTML syntax are, 1) The open tag, which starts the element and describes what the content is; 2) the content, the actual text or images that will appear on the page; and 3) the end tag, which closes the element, indicating the content has ended. 4. True or False? - All tags MUST be written using upper-case False tags must be written in lowercase for validation purposes. 5. What is the purpose of the DOCTYPE declaration? To define the type of mark-up used in a document, and to what specification level. 6. List the five elements required to set up a web page. <html>, <head>, <meta>, <title> and <body>. 7. True or False? All the content in the <head> element will not appear on the web page. True. To appear on the page, content must be placed in the <body> element. 8. What is the purpose of the body tag? All content that is to appear on the page is placed inside the body element. 9. Describe the effect extra spaces between tags and elements have on a web page. In this activity, you will create a reference glossary, outlining the effect each property will have on a selector, and provide an example of possible values that can be used.
