2 What s new in Spectrum Spatial Analyst? This release of Spectrum Spatial Analyst has added a wide range of major new features for end users and administrators including phase III of the new "mobile-ready" user interface, which supports use on mobile, tablet and desktop browsers. Spectrum Spatial Analyst 7.0 has been tested and is supported with Spectrum Platform (with LIM) version 11.0 and requires Spectrum Platform patches S04, S05 and S15. Version 10.1 of Spectrum Platform is not supported. As a pre-requisite please upgrade Spectrum Platform (with LIM) to version 11.0 and apply each of the 3 patches before upgrading Analyst. The Windows installer for Analyst will upgrade from Spectrum Spatial Analyst 6.0 to Spectrum Spatial Analyst 7.0. Any upgrade from previous version of Spectrum Spatial Analyst prior to version 6.0 is not supported. For customers using Spectrum Spatial Analyst 5.0, we recommended upgrading to Spectrum Spatial Analyst 6.0 first and then upgrading to Spectrum Spatial Analyst 7. What s new in Mobile Ready User Interface? The mobile ready user interface for Spectrum Spatial Analyst is being introduced incrementally. It is being designed from the ground up using HTML5 and Open layers 3 and will provide a single interface that supports current desktop browsers and also all popular mobile and touch devices including ios, Android and Windows. This release sees the delivery of phase III with the most commonly used functionality included. Both the current and new interfaces are available in this release. When the new interface is completed it will replace the existing one. You can access Spectrum Spatial Analyst on mobile device by adding mobile to the Spectrum Spatial Analyst URL. For example, The new features added in this release are: Editing of features and attribute data: Users are now able to edit both attribute data and map features. The availability of editing for end users is managed by a combination of table level permissions and enabling the editing capability in a map configuration. 2

3 Users can be given permission to edit (a) just attribute data, (b) attribute data and map features or (c) ability to delete and insert records. Editing is available for any data tables that reside in a RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostGIS, SAP Hana) or in a Geo Package. For attribute editing the forms presented to users can be defined by admins to include various validation rules including the definition of pick lists, minimum and maximum values, and whether a value for a column is required or optional. The types of geometry allowed to be captured can also be managed. For feature editing users can draw new features and can pick and merge map features from any other layer into their temporary edit layer. They can also delete features from their edit layer before submitting the edits. Full node editing of polygons and lines is available (to add or delete nodes). New annotation types: Four annotation features have been introduced into the mobile ready UI, two of which are new: Travel Time Polygons: Users can add travel time polygons at any location they click. It is possible to create any number of polygons based on either travel time or distance. Once added the polygons can be used for querying as with any other annotation. This is a new annotation type that was not supported previously. For Travel time polygons to be enabled the Spectrum ERM (Enterprise Routing Module) is required, which is available either for deployment into Spectrum on premise or as an on demand service. Sector Polygon: Users can draw a sector on the map. The sector can be drawn at any rotation from its starting point and once drawn the sector radius can be set. This is a new annotation type that was not supported previously. Concentric Rings: Support for concentric Ring annotations has been added to the mobile ready UI. Users can drag out a set of rings and then manage the number and radius of each ring. The rings are managed as a grouped set of annotations. Ellipse: Support for ellipse annotations has been added to the mobile ready UI. Users can drag out an ellipse. Viewing map information in annotations: Previously users could only see map information at a specific point where they clicked the map. Now there is an option on each annotation s overflow menu to see map information that intersects that annotation. This allows users to see map information across all visible layers for any polygon and line feature. The map information is displayed in the left hand panel. Zoom to annotation: Each annotation s overflow menu has new option that lows the user to zoom and center on that annotation. As part of the phased implementation of existing features into the mobile ready UI the following features are now available: KML Import and Export. KML import and export of annotations has been added to the mobile ready UI. Custom Queries: End users can now choose to define custom queries in addition to choosing any queries predefined by admins in the Admin Console. 3

4 End user thematic maps: End users can now create their own thematic maps. Range, Individual Value and Graduated Symbol are supported. URL Parameters: Support is added for specifying the X, Y and Zoom in the URL for launching the mobile ready UI. Support for the remaining parameters will come in a future release. For more information, refer to Spectrum Spatial Analyst online help. What s new in Spectrum Spatial Analyst Administration Console? The Spectrum Spatial Analyst Administration Console is a web application that allows administrators to manage which maps and data from Spectrum Spatial are available in Spectrum Spatial Analyst. Administrators can control a wide range of options including setting permissions on what data and end user functions are available to users. Managing map information templates: In Analyst 6 custom map information templates were introduced which allows HTML templates to be created to style and format how map information is displayed for any table. A configuration XML file mapped which templates to use for specific tables and map configurations. This release allows admins to choose the templates they have created within the admin console UI as part of defining a map configuration. The XML configuration file is maintained by this process. Edit validation templates: Admins can create edit validation templates for tables. These are XML files that define how users should edit data when editing is enabled. As with map information templates, edit validation templates are created manually and placed into a folder on the Analyst server. Managing Edit Validation Templates: On the same tab where map information templates are managed, admins can also pick which validation templates to use. SpectrumRouting Configuration: Admins can now create spectrum routing configurations which define the server end point, database and other options available for an ERM service. Local, on premise or on demand Spectrum ERM services can be defined. When enabling Travel Boundary annotations admins can then choose which routing configuration to use. MapConfigurations: To support the new features of Analyst the following can now be enabled or disabled as part of a map configuration under Settings > Functionality: Enable Travel Boundary: Click to enable or enable/disable the travel boundary polygon annotation in the Spectrum Spatial Analyst application. Travel Boundary Configuration: Select one of the available ERM configurations from the drop down list to be used in Spectrum Spatial Analyst. Enable Editing in Tables: Allows you to enable editing preferences for tables present in map configuration. It has following options: 4

5 Attribute Update Only: When selected,a user can only edit attribute data provided user s role/roles have all other required permissions in Spectrum (Refer to Appendix E-Feature Editing for more details). The user cannot edit the geometry and cannot insert or delete records. Editing Enabled: When selected,a user can edit the attribute data and/or the geometry and they can also insert or delete records provided user s role/roles have all other required permissions in Spectrum. For more details refer to Appendix E of the Admin Console Help. Editing Disabled-When selected, a user cannot edit any data regardless of whether the logged in user has Spectrum MODIFY permissions to edit some of the tables in that map configuration. This is the default option. For more information, refer to Spectrum Spatial Analyst Administration Guide. What s new in Spectrum Spatial Map Uploader? The Spectrum Spatial Map Uploader, originally provided with Spectrum Spatial Analyst, is now formally part of the Spectrum Platform Utilities. It can be downloaded from the Spectrum Platform home page directly or by using the links to that page provided in the Analyst Administration Console. The Spectrum Spatial Map Uploader is a tool that is added to MapInfo Professional. It allows administrators to publish a map into Spectrum Spatial. The tool creates all of the Named Resources needed to view the data retaining any thematic maps, style overrides or other layer settings applied in MapInfo Professional. The spectrum spatial map uploader has been updated and you will need to uninstall the old version and download the new version from the Spectrum Spatial landing page or the Analyst landing page. In version 11 of Spectrum the uploader will automatically attempt to populate the correct full file path for each table being uploaded. The new version of the uploader does not have an installer. To use it please unzip the files into a location on your machine and then add the MBX file to the MI Pro tools menu. For more information, refer Spectrum Spatial Map Uploader help documentation. Google Chrome 49.0 Mobile Ready User Interface Here is the list of supported devices and browsers: Windows Mobile OS version 8.1 Safari on Apple Devices with ios8 and ios9.2 Chrome on Android devices with 4.3, 4.4 and 5.0 Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 Mozilla Firefox 45. Safari on Mac. Google Chrome Spectrum Spatial Analyst- Old Interface Here is the list of supported browsers and Operating System: Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and 11. Mozilla Firefox 45. Safari on Mac. Google Chrome ipad is no longer supported in old UI. 6

7 Supported Languages Spectrum Spatial Analyst supports the following languages: cy (Welsh) (not for Admin Console) da (Danish) de (German) en (English- default) en_au (English- Australian) en_gb (English- British) fi (Finnish) fr (French) nl (Dutch) pt (Portuguese es (Spanish) ja (Japanese) To launch either the Spectrum Spatial Analyst Admin Console or Spectrum Spatial Analyst in one of these languages, add a lang parameter to the end of the URL. For example: Limitations and Known Issues in this Release The following are the limitations and known issues in this release: Spectrum Spatial Analyst Administration Console The limitations in Spectrum Spatial Analyst Administration Console are listed below: 7

8 Maximum records that can be fetched on Spectrum Spatial Analyst application for a particular data bind is 999. Data Bind doesn't work for the tables having DateTimeOffset, We are not able to create named tables for such type of tables. MSSQL Server does not support IN operator for VarChar and text whereas it is supported for other text formats like Char, varchar etc. Though Analyst supports the creation of WMS Base Maps with geographic projections (which use degrees as units such as epsg:4326), you are advised not to add Mapping Service Business Maps over such Base Maps. This is because the Mapping Service used by Analyst does not render maps in a form that aligns with geographic projections. The misalignment is because the standard parallel is changed as the map is panned away from the equator (this is called moving standard parallel and is a feature of all MapInfo products). The misalignment is more pronounced as you move further north or south from the equator. When adding WMS Maps Analyst will initially default to using WMS version If the WMS service supports both version and then the administrator can enter the version=1.3.0 parameter to their WMS URL to force Analyst to use that version. If you are viewing reports from the Reports menu in Administration Console, make sure to disable any pop-up blockers in your browser as these may prevent the report appearing. The Analyst Admin should not use the Spectrum MWS Uploader or Management Console to upload a map as these do not create Named Layers and they will not work with Analyst. All the maps should be uploaded using Spectrum Spatial Map Uploader only which is available on Home tab of with Analyst Administration Console. While adding a Raster Map as a Business Map to a Map Configuration, you have to ensure that the projection of the Raster map matches that of the Base Maps. The address search logs are not available from the Admin Console reports menu in release 3.0 of Analyst. In order to view usage logs for address searches and also other Analyst features the web access logs can be viewed in this folder: C:\Program Files\Pitney Bowes\SpectrumSpatialAnalyst\Tomcat7\AnalystConnect\logs\. The access logs are named in this format localhost_access_log.yyyy-mm-dd and the address search log entries start with this URL pattern The log entries also include the address being searched as a URL query parameter. Spectrum Spatial Analyst The limitations in Spectrum Spatial Analyst are listed below: From Chrome browser, the zoom level should be set to 100% else you may face some UI issues on the Spectrum Spatial Analyst. Spectrum Spatial Analyst will not work with an SSL Secured Spectrum instance. The maps installed by default with Spectrum Spatial and available under Samples/NamedMaps/ will not work with Analyst. 8

9 The Hover events like tool-tips and names of annotations are not supported for ipad and other touch devices. On all supported versions of Internet Explorer (IE8, IE9 and IE10) the property dialog for a TEXT Annotation is not shown when a user clicks it using the Select Annotation tool. Properties can be viewed by in the annotation manager. On IE, when user selects an annotation feature on map & then tries to see its properties, they are unable to do so if they click on its name. When using a point annotation for a query we will buffer the point by a value equivalent to 10 pixels in diameter and search for features that intersect the buffered point. This is the same behavior that is used when a user clicks the map to see a call out. Other geometries such as lines are not buffered in this way. Full querying of layers is not a capability of WMS services. Hence, the Analyst query functionality will appear disabled for a map configuration containing only WMS Business data. Call outs will still work however. Maps which have had a zoom range applied may not appear in print previews at certain zoom levels especially the lowest and highest zoom range levels. During print preview collation a larger size of image is requested as compared to the tile size present on Analyst. This difference in size sometimes leads to layers falling outside their prescribed zoom range, making them invisible in print preview. If you are upgrading from earlier version of Spectrum Spatial Analyst, the tool bar icons might mismatch. Please contact your sales representative for corrective measures. Known Issues The following are the known issues in this release of Spectrum Spatial Analyst: Bug ID Description CONN In the new mobile user interface- For Concentric circle and Drive time Polygons, the complete annotation gets highlighted no matters which ring is selected from query in drop-down. CONN An extra generic legend entry all others is displayed on Spectrum Spatial Analyst. CONN Labels do not appear in Map View, however it appears in Query View on a zoom level of 200m. This is because of the zoom difference between feature and label layer. That will happen because business layers are 542 px wide and label layers are usually wider They will never match. 9

10 Spectrum Spatial Analyst Map Uploader The limitations in Spectrum Spatial Analyst Map Uploader are listed below: TAB files that have smoothing turned on for curve geometries in MapInfo Professional are not supported. Workaround: turn off smoothing prior to uploading data. Full-stop/period (.), plus (+) and ampersand (&) characters are not allowed in map and layer names. If you have existing maps or layers with these symbols in their names, then please be aware that unpredictable errors may be encountered. Workaround: Delete the affected maps on the server, then rename and re-upload your maps and layers accordingly. The Spectrum Map Loader will upload tables that contain MapInfo text geometries. However, adding these to Analyst as map overlays is not supported because the Spectrum Mapping Service will fail to render the legend in cases where the layer has only text geometries in it. Tables with text geometries can be used in maps rendered via the Spectrum Map Tiling Service and used as base maps in Analyst.
