4 IBM Cgns TM1 Web Tips and 4 1 Intrductin 1.1 Purpse This dcument describes varius tips and techniques that will imprve functinality, ease administratin, and imprve perfrmance f IBM Cgns TM1 Web applicatins. 1.2 Applicability IBM Cgns TM1 v9.1 and v9.0 SP1 1.3 Exclusins and Exceptins These techniques may nt be pssible with versins f TM1 earlier than 9.0 SP1. 2 TM1 Web Tips and This article describes sme tips and techniques that can help yu get the mst ut f yur TM1 Web applicatins Cell Prtectin Yu can use standard Excel functinality t prtect cells r entire wrksheets. Any prtectin applied in an Excel dcument is retained when the dcument is viewed as a TM1 Websheet Excel Data Validatin All Excel validatin criteria are supprted in TM1 Web, with the exceptin f Custm Wrap Text Excel's Wrap Text feature is nw supprted in TM1 Web. See wrap text tips belw fr mre details. 2.2 Perfrmance Tips T imprve perfrmance, particularly in TM1 Web: Make sure there are n extra white space/empty cells in yur reprt. Use Ctrl-End t determine where the bttm cell is in yur reprt, and delete any unnecessary cells within the reprt. If yur reprt includes images, save the image files at a lwer reslutin. This can make a significant difference in the size f the resulting Excel file. 2.3 Websheet Tips T make a TM1 Websheet read-nly: 1. Right-click the crrespnding Excel dcument in the Server Explrer. 2. Chse Prperties. 3. Click the General tab. 4. Clear the Allw Cell Write back frm Web ptin.

5 IBM Cgns TM1 Web Tips and 5 5. Click OK. Turn ff grid lines in Excel (Tls Optins View tab) if yu dn t want then t shw up in yur Websheets. T cntrl whether the subset selectr is available frm cells cntaining a SUBNM functin: 1. Right-click the crrespnding Excel dcument in the Server Explrer. 2. Chse Prperties. 3. Click the Display Prperties tab. 4. Clear the Display Title Element Selectrs ptin. 5. Click OK. 2.4 Frmatting Tips The fllwing custm number frmats are nt supprted in TM1 Web: Repeat characters (*char) is ignred Spacing fr insignificant zers (???.???) causes the reprt t fail t lad Specifying cnditins is nt supprted Use merged cells rather than Centered Acrss Selectin alignment, which is nt supprted in TM1 Web. Drawing Objects (lines/shapes, etc.) are nt supprted try using brders n cells instead. Narrw clumns display much wider than expected in TM1 Web. T wrk arund this issue: 1. Highlight the clumn and select Frmat Cells. 2. Click the Patterns tab. 3. Select White. 4. Click OK. Dn t mix frmatting within a cell; this usually results in n frmatting being applied. If yu need t mix frmatting, use separate cells fr each frmat. Thin cell brders (1 pt) d nt display crrectly when gridlines are visible in a sheet. T wrk arund this prblem, turn gridlines ff r apply a thicker brder. Dn t map cell width t tightly in an Excel wrksheet, a spare pixel r tw can prevent text wrapping in the crrespnding TM1 Websheet. Freeze Frames are generally supprted, and a number f fixes went int SP1 t imprve the supprt f this feature. Hwever, TM1 Web des nt supprt the ability t psitin an image r a chart acrss a freeze frame. If yu want an image t crss the bundary f a freeze frame, yu must split the image int tw images, putting a prtin n each side f the freeze frame line. Mve any graphs s they d nt straddle the freeze frame line. A cell with a SUBNM requires sme extra space in TM1 Web t accmmdate the subset selectr. In the example belw, there are abut 16 extra pixels f space t the right f the All Cmpanies element name in the Excel wrksheet. This extra space is ccupied by the subset selectr in the crrespnding TM1 Websheet.

6 IBM Cgns TM1 Web Tips and 6 Excel wrksheet TM1 Websheet If yu dn t leave extra space in the Excel cell and there is n data in the cell t the right f the SUBNM functin, TM1 Web merges the cell cntaining the SUBMN functin with the cell immediately t the right. If there is smething in the cell t the right f the SUBNM functin, TM1 Web wraps the cell text t accmmdate the subset selectr, even if Wrap Text has nt been set in the cell. Merged Text wrapped 2.5 Wrap Text Tips Wrap Text is supprted in TM1 Web 9.0 SP1, hwever wrapping within a cell may ccur at a different character psitin in TM1 Web than in Excel. If yu apply Wrap Text t a cell cntaining a SUBMN functin, the text may wrap incrrectly r be truncated. 2.6 Chart Tips Dual Axis charts and data tables are nt supprted in TM1 Web 9.0 SP1. Use ne f the predefined legend Placement ptins t ensure a cnsistent legend display in Excel and TM1 Web. If yu click and drag the legend t a different psitin in an Excel chart, the legend always appears acrss the tp f the chart in TM1 Web.

If yu apply multiple frmats t a text area in an Excel wrksheet, the text area is frmatted as plain text (all frmatting is discarded) in the crrespnding Websheet.

Instead, use the Titles tab n the Chart ptins dialg bx t create a chart title r categry axis labels. If yu apply multiple frmats t a text area in an Excel wrksheet, the text area is frmatted as plain text (all frmatting is discarded) in the crrespnding Websheet. Use standard number frmat ptins if pssible, as nt all custm number frmat cmbinatins will wrk in TM1 Web. T ensure that frmatting applied t data pints is cnsistent between Excel and TM1 Web, begin by applying frmatting t the rightmst data pint in the chart and prceed in rder, right t left. 2.7 Cube Viewer Tips Occasinally, the data grid and rw/clumn headings are misaligned the first time yu pen a view during a TM1 Web sessin. Yu can click the Recalculate buttn n the Cube Viewer t restre the alignment. If yu change the brwser size while a graph is displayed in a Websheet, the graph is nt resized until yu manually recalculate the Websheet.

Things yu can d: Link t any sheet:cell within the same wrkbk (use standard Excel hyperlink capability ff f the right click menu) Link t anther.xls file whether in the app rganizer r nt as lng as it lives in the same flder as the dcument yu are linking frm (use standard Excel hyperlink capability) Link t a specific sheet within anther dcument (we are nw interpreting Excel s use f the # sheet name!cell extensin t the hyperlink prperly) Link t a blb (syntax example): tm1://standard/blb/public/}externals/sales vlume1.xls_ xls) Generically this is: TM1://servername/blb/PUBLIC/.\}Externals/reprts true name Nte that the servername is case sensitive while its wrks still if yu use the wrng case it will shw the true name f the reprt n the tab nt the applicatin flder nice name. True name can be fund in the applicatin rganizer (the true name des have the date riginally upladed in it hwever, this des nt change when the file is subsequently re-upladed): Use the Excel Hyperlink functin t link t any external.xls file. (Nte a hyperlink t a nn.xls dcument,.dc r.ppt, des will nt shw up as a link n the web currently) Example: =HYPERLINK("c:\test\Testdc.xls","Test hyperlink t external linked file") Things yu can t d currently: Link t a view

Seems t smetimes nt wrk initially until smething gets initiated, but nce wrking they wrk cnsistently. Text Bxes List Bx Drawing menu - Text bx text will nt wrap Cntrl menu text wraps but psitining vs. Excel is way ff Bth Cntrl bject and Frms bject wrk hwever, the cntrl bject takes up mre space n the web then in Excel. Need t play a bit with the sizing t get it t line up prperly. Frms bject is clser t it s Excel size. Excel Cntrl List Bx TM1 Web Cntrl List Bx Excel Frms List Bx TM1 Web Frms List Bx Frm and cntrl Cmb bxes bth shw up and lk almst identical n the web, with the exceptin f the width which is fixed n the web. If the bject width is.22, and yu make yur Excel rw = 15 this seems t line up pretty well n the web. Frms Check Bxes and Optin bxes will shw up
