3 Conduct a Search 1. USING SIMPLE SEARCH By inserting a keyword, Publisher name, Author name or any metadata field Al Manhal. All rights reserved v 3.0

4 2. USING ADVANCED SEARCH a. SEARCH FIELDS: Choose from the main details field in the dropdown list. Apply multiple filters by adding AND between each item b. PUBLICATION YEAR: Specify the desired search range between publication years. By default, the years cover the full-range c. SEARCH FILTERS: Indicate one or more value(s) from the listed filters ** FREE SEARCH TERM: Shows the Simple Search query user applied before visiting the Advanced Search Al Manhal. 5 Search Results List 1. DID YOU MEAN: Find and search correct words in place of misspelled ones from our built-in dictionary 2. NARROWING RESULTS: Narrow results further by applying additional search options, or by choosing any of the options listed in the Refine Results box 3. RESULT PERMALINK: Get the URL for current search results so users can share their search results with friends and colleagues 4. SAVE SEARCH: Save search results for later on 5. SEARCH RESULTS COUNT: See total matches of applied search 6. EXPORT TO EXCEL: Save main information from search results into an automatically formatted excel sheet 7. 9 Browse Features By using the Browse method, user will be able to: 1. BROWSE BY DOCUMENT TYPE: Use separate tabs to browse documents in their different forms 2. SUBJECTS BREAD CRUMBS: Navigate back to the main subjects by pressing the home icon 3. VOLUMES & ISSUES: Search through journal articles by volume and issue 4. TOTAL ITEMS: Find the total items of the chosen criteria 5. 11 Read Full-Text Content FULL TEXT CONTENT will appear on Al Manhal platform for authenticated users, with the following features: 1. TITLE CONTENT CONTENTS: Show Table of Content which each section and chapter can be linked to an exact location in the text. Clicking on selected content will automatically redirect to the text. 12 2. READ TOOLBAR a- EXPAND/COLLAPSE PDF b- SEARCH: for the title and use the following properties: 1. Enter, edit and search for new phrases in the search toolbar 2. Navigate to previous/next search results, if found 3. Highlight the default value within all results 4. Match the case in search results for English letters (A or a) 5. Match full phrase exactly as it is written in the search field c- LAST SEARCH lead to the last search results page d- EXPLORE features such as copy, print, definitions and search from the selected text on other websites e- PAGE NUMBER: Shows the current page number out of total pages, easily navigated by using arrows DOWNLOAD PDF as a full-text or part-text file, with all rights reserved to Al Manhal Al Manhal. MY TITLES a- CREATE NEW FOLDER to organize the titles in self-selected sections b- ADD TITLES: Click on the symbol to add titles to the personal folders c- TITLES DETAILS: Read all key pieces of information about the title, with a special delete title feature d- FILTER BOOKSHELF ITEMS by document type (Books, Articles, Reports and Theses) Al Manhal. SAVED SEARCH Shows the saved searches done by the user from the search results page a- SAVED SEARCH TITLE: View the saved search results and perform the search again by clicking on the title b- SAVED SEARCH DETAILS note the date of the saved search c- DELETE saved searches 3. LOGIN WITH one of your social media network accounts to connect to Al Manhal platform 3. 18 a- TOP USAGE CHART: See number of available documents as well as total usage of these documents by users b- TOP COLLECTIONS USAGE: Shows Top 5 collections by usage within a selected date period Al Manhal. All rights reserved v 3.0

19 c- MOST ACTIVE USERS: Shows Top 5 active users of view, copy, print, download and citation facilities d- MONTHLY TOTAL USAGE: containing details about view, copy, print, download and citation facilities Al Manhal. All rights reserved v 3.0

20 e- TOTAL VIEWS, VISITS AND SEARCHES: 1- VIEWS: Numbers of users 'Sessions' open the Platform website 2- VISITS: Number of sessions accessing the URL addresses 3- SEARCHES: Number of performed database searches, including empty search results Al Manhal. All rights reserved v 3.0

21 f- MOST PERFORMED SEARCHES: A feature for librarians to track last month s most performed searches, and especially for distributor admins, either the last month or current month can be selected 1. DATE: Month/Year of the search results 2. KEYWORD SEARCHES: Find out the most performed searches of keywords and phrases 3. TOTAL SEARCHES: Hovering over a query will reveal how many searches have been made; clicking on it will navigate to a page with more details Al Manhal. All rights reserved v 3.0

PROFILE See the basic information of signed-in librarians or distributor admins a- UPDATE BASIC INFORMATION: Upon registration to Al Manhal Platform, either directly or via third parties add or update basic information, such as first name and phone number b- RESET PASSWORD: Change password by entering the old one, then creating and confirming the new password Al Manhal. 23 3. PREFERENCES Gives the option for librarians to add more criteria to simple search options 4. HOLDINGS a- SEARCH & BROWSE: Librarians can search & browse across Al Manhal platform s content or among owned items b- COLLECTIONS: List of collections and number of documents the customer owns with detailed Al Manhal. MARC RECORDS Librarian can download MARC records for books from the same collection as an XML file a- DOWNLOAD ALL: Librarian can download all MARC Records for all book collections b- Librarian can choose a collection and view its records c- Show number of Records had been updated since last download of the collection records and allow downloading only the difference d- Download all MARC Records for a collection e- Show download history done by librarian excluding Records been updated after that date Al Manhal. ACCOUNTS Shows all the accounts within a subscribed network, whether they have been created by the librarian or the user a- SEARCHABLE: Accounts are searchable by first name b- NEW ACCOUNT: Add a new account by filling in the necessary information c- DOWNLOAD INFORMATION: Download account information in an excel sheet d- LOAD ACCOUNTS INFORMATION WITH THE ABILITY TO: 1- Reset account password 2- Activate or deactivate accounts 3- Edit accounts information 4- Delete an account e- ACCOUNTS: Librarian can add a set of accounts by downloading and filling in an excel sheet with certain criteria and uploading it onto the Al Manhal Platform Al Manhal. USAGE REPORTS Al Manhal Platform provides two kinds of usage reports: a- STANDARD REPORT Shows the usage of Al Manhal Platform per collection 1- FILTER: Report data can be sorted according to collection and date range 2- SAVE REPORT RESULTS into an excel sheet 3- USAGE DETAILS: View Standard Report usage details per collection Al Manhal. 27 4- STANDARD REPORT DETAILS per collection: Once certain details are specified, a report of usage details will appear as follow: a- INTERNAL SEARCH: Librarian can search within one collection using Doc. ID, Title, Type (Book, Article, Report and Thesis) b- TOTAL USAGE PER COLLECTION c- EXPORT TO EXCEL: Report results can be exported into an automatically formatted excel sheet d- USAGE PER TITLE: The usage list of each collection title Al Manhal. 28 b- COUNTER REPORTS 1- AL MANHAL PLATFORM PROVIDES THREE KINDS OF COUNTER REPORTS: - JOURNAL REPORT 1 (R4): Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month and Journal - JOURNAL REPORT 5 (R4): Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Year of Publication (YOP) and Journal - BOOK REPORT 1 (R4): Number of successful title requests by month and title 2- SET THE DATE RANGE 3- EXPORT TO EXCEL the results of COUNTER reports Al Manhal. 29 Other Features 1. HELP Provides platform librarians with the User Manual as a PDF format in both AR & EN languages also they can print and save it 2. GO TO THE LAST SEARCH Restore last search results 3. VIRTUAL KEYBOARD For AR or EN virtual keyboard, enable or disable the virtual keyboard from the header by clicking on the keyboard icon 4. PLATFORM LANGUAGE Al Manhal Platform available in two languages English and Arabic, you can change it by clicking on the language 5. PLATFORM VERSION HISTORY Covers all changes on Al Manhal Platform for each Release Al Manhal. All rights reserved v 3.0
