Select a database and d a cmprehensive search r find specific kinds f infrmatin (recent peer-reviewed articles) Enter a database name in Quick Search (e.g. Web f Knwledge) and search. ELECTRONIC RESOURCES FOR GENERAL RESEARCH Use these databases t search fr citatins, abstracts and full-text literature in academic and ppular jurnals. Prquest Research Library Prquest Research Library, frmerly knwn as Peridical Abstracts, is a cmprehensive database available thrugh the PrQuest nline system. It indexes and abstracts general interest magazines and schlarly jurnals in the scial sciences, humanities and sciences. Als try: Academic Search Premier, Lexis Nexis, Factiva, Web f Knwledge RECOMMENDED (schlarly)! Includes Web f Science (articles frm tp 10% f highly cited jurnals) and ther databases, particularly in the life sciences ISI Web f knwledge is an integrated platfrm supprting research in academic, crprate, gvernment, and nt fr prfit rganizatins. ISI citatin databases are multidisciplinary databases f bibligraphic infrmatin indexed t be searched by subject, authr, jurnal, and/r authr address. They can als be searched fr articles that cite a knwn authr r wrk. Cited reference searching allws use f a given wrk as if it were a subject term, t identify mre recent articles n the same tpic. Web f Science prvides access t the Science citatin index expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), Scial sciences citatin index (SSCI), and Arts & humanities citatin index (A&HCI). FOR BOOKS & REFERENCE MATERIAL, SEARCH THE CATALOG: The bks and reprts in the Library Catalg are gd fr backgrund, brad verviews and mre general cnsideratins f a subject. Articles, which can t be fund in the catalg, are better fr mre specific and mst current tpics. The library catalg ffers a Basic Search (when yu re lking fr smething specific) and a Guided Keywrd search (when yu want t see what Crnell has) with ptins t narrw yur searches Brainstrm as many keywrds as pssible fr the tpic and begin searching. Use the Guided Keywrd search and when yu find smething relevant, lk at the subject headings (fund under the Lng View). Search fr mre cmbinatins f wrds and phrases suggested in the recrd. See the T find different versins f a wrd (e.g., seed? will find seed and seeds and seedling) use "?" (knwn as truncatin). Exercise 3: Use the catalg t find a relevant bk abut yur subject.
