3 Start Menu. Click the Start menu.. View all applications. Sorted by Recently added, Most used and alphabetically. Quick app buttons. Commonly used applications. Four browsers: Internet Explorer, Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Some websites require the use of specific browsers. 5. File Explorer Access your documents. Formally called My Documents 6. Taskbar Pin applications to the taskbar for quick access. View all open 5 6 applications. Type Alt + Tab to quickly switch between open applications

4 Customizing the Start Menu. Pin to Start menu locate a frequently used application then click hold drag it to a new location.. Resize icons right click on the icon. Select Resize, then choose Small or Medium Remove icons right click on the icon. Click Unpin from Start.

5 Power and User Settings. Click the Power button Sleep put the computer into low-power mode Shut down turn off the computer Restart close windows and automatically turn back on Switch account allows another user to sign in. Settings - computer settings. Click the User button Change account settings change password Lock requires your password to open the computer Sign out allow someone else to log in to the computer Type Windows key + L to quickly lock your computer

6 File Explorer To quickly open the OR File Explorer press the Windows key + E. Click the Start menu, then File Explorer or click the folder icon on the Taskbar. Documents, personal files and documents. These are stored locally on the computer and not backed up by BOCES. This PC, access to you P:drive and the Shared drive. All file should be saved in your P:drive or OneDrive!. Search Quick Access, look for a file or folder by typing part of the name. Also, search by size or date modified

7 Syncing OneDrive with your File Explorer. Type OneDrive into the search bar. Click OneDrive DeskTop App. (Follow Prompts) Type you BOCES address and click Sign in. If you already have files and folders in your OneDrive, a screen will appear to verify the contents. Click Next 5. Click Open my OneDrive Monroe # BOCES folder 6 6. Start using Onedrive from File Explorer or through Portal.Office.com Signing in... 5

8 Saving Recommended places to save your documents. To save a document, click on the File option. Choose a location. OneDrive Monroe # BOCES - Saves the document into your BOCES cloud storage.. Browse - Opens file explorer for additional locations such as your P:Drive Choose a location and format. Click Save. 5 Other locations are available 6. Sites - Saves to SharePoint in 65. This option is not currently available 7. SharePoint - Saves to BOCES SharePoint for APPR documents 8. This PC - Save to suggested recent locations New: Internet connection is required to access your P:drive files. To work on files offline, temporarily copy a file to your desktop then move it back to your P:drive or OneDrive - Monroe # BOCES when connected to the internet.

9 File Locations Access files from anywhere New: When signed a BOCES issued laptop at school or home and connected to the internet, you can access your P:drive or S:drive files. 6 5 YOUR NAME HERE. Open File Explorer. Local locations (These locations ONLY save to this computer) These locations are ok to temporally save items to that are expendable as these are not backed up or recoverable. OneDrive - Monroe # BOCES cloud storage Save, manage, upload and access files. Internet access is requited. P:drive Firstname_Lastname(//BOCES.monroe.edu/Private) Access to your files, pictures, music, videos from anywhere Internet access is requited 5. BOCES SHARES (S:drive) New! Access files from anywhere Internet access is requited 6. Caution: Quick access/documents does not sync to your P:drive

10 Set Default Printer. In the search bar type: Printer. Then click on Printers and Scanners (A new window will appear). Left click on a listed printer then left click on Open queue. Click Printer (A new window will appear). Click Set As Default Printer
