3 Installation Pre-Requisites Windows Software Components Info Input Express Limited Edition requires the following software to be installed on the PC: Microsoft.NET Framework IIS Express Microsoft Visual C Redistributable During the installation of Info Input Express LE, both IIS Express and the Visual C Redistributable should automatically be installed if they are not already present on the PC Control Panel --> Programs and Features 3

4 Installation Pre-Requisites Troubleshooting the Installation On some PCs, the automatic installation of the required Windows components fails causing the installation of the Info Input Express LE software to also fail If this error is encountered, then IIS Express failed to install and therefore must manually be installed from the Microsoft web site: If this error is encountered, then the Visual C Redistributable installation must be repaired: Remove/Uninstall the existing installation from the Control Panel > Programs and Features Download and install from the Microsoft web site: 4

5 Upgrading from a Previous Release Download the Version installer of Info Input Express Limited Edition from the download link ed to you your address Running the installer will automatically upgrade your existing installation to Version

6 Changes and Bug Fixes in Version Performance improvements in the time it takes for scanning to start after initiating a scan From either the Home screen of Info Input Express or by pressing a scanner button Performance improvements in the time it takes to complete the output after submitting a document Especially when the Catalog of scanned documents grows over time Info Input Express Connector service should now always automatically start after a system reboot Improved scanning reliability under the following scenarios that could have resulted in the Connector service to crash and scanning to not work in previous releases When a user logs out and then logs back in at a later time Switching the Windows User on a PC Installing the Info Input Express software with an Administrator account but then running the software as a Limited or Restricted user 6

7 Changes and Bug Fixes in Version (continued) Error attempting to change the settings of a default Activity in some local languages (e.g., German) This problem has been fixed as the maximum length for an Activty named has been increased from 30 characters to 65 characters No status alert when a submitted document goes into Error status The Status menu selection on the Home screen will now indicate that the submitted document did not output successfully Initiating a scan from a scanner button will no longer launch a new instance/browser tab Would typically occur when using Internet Explorer previously scanned images would be lost Activities will now be removed from the display on the scanner after uninstalling Info Input Express 7

9 Changes and Bug Fixes in Version Turkish and Japanese language GUI translations have been completed GUI Translation improvements and corrections for all other non-english languages PDF output is now working correctly on Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese Windows OS Word (i.e., DOCX), Excel, and CSV file output is now accurate for all non-english languages Submitted documents will now be output successfully if PC does not have a network connection Previously, submitted documents would be stuck in a READY state and would not be output until a network connection was re-established Turkish Windows OS Issues - the following problems have been fixed Unable to add Document Types Cannot modify the settings of the 6 Default Activities (e.g., Black and White Multipage TIFF) 9

12 Multi-User/PC Support for S2000w Scanners When configured for Multiple PC sharing, up to 10 PCs can connect to an S2000w scanner at any one time The users Windows login user name is displayed on the Scanner OCP An optional Scanner Pin can be enabled from the Home Screen requiring the user to enter their Pin when they initiate scanning from the Scanner OCP 12

14 HOLD Feature Removed The ability to HOLD for later indexing and submitting has been removed The Indexing step of Activity Setup provides the exact same capabilities as HOLD so it didn t make sense anymore to have both features Version 2.2 Version

15 Custom Scanning Profiles The selected Custom Profile (as configured in the TWAIN GUI for Alaris Scanners) will now be displayed in Activity Setup This includes the 6 Default Activities that come with Info Input Express Limited Edition 15

16 New Language Support The following languages are now available in the Info Input Express GUI (based on the language configured in the browser), Point-and- Click OCR, and for Searchable PDF output Simplified Chinese Traditional Chinese Russian Dutch Korean Polish 16

17 Send as attachment After submitting a document, an is generated in the default mail client application that is installed on the user s PC The scanned document is an attachment to the . Index Item(s) can be used to name the attachment The user must complete filling out the screen (as necessary) and press the Send button to deliver the . Index Item(s) can also be used for Address, Subject, or Message content 17

18 Drop-down List Indexing An Index Item can be configured as a Drop-Down List field type allowing the user to select the index value from a list Type-ahead is supported allowing the user to more quickly navigate through a large list 18

20 Scanner Not Working after Rebooting my PC The installer creates and starts two services that are set to automatically start upon system reboot Check to make sure that the Info Input Express Connector service is started. If it s not started, then the Connector icon in your System Tray will look like this Manually start the service: Go to Administrative Tools -> Services Highlight Info Input Express Connector and right-click Select Start 20

21 Where is My Output File I Can t Find it? The output may have failed due to an error. Check the Status screen to determine if there was an error Detailed information about documents in an Error status can be found in the Windows Event Viewer 21

22 My Anti-Virus Software is causing scanning to be really slow or not work To avoid your Anti-Virus software from causing problems with your Info Input Express installation, the following directories (and any of their sub-directories) should be excluded from anti-virus checking: C:\Program Files (x86)\kodak Alaris\Capture Services C:\Program Files (x86)\kodak Alaris\Connector C:\Program Files (x86)\kodak Alaris\Info Input Express C:\KodakAlaris 22
