8 Brief History of KISTI-ALICE Collaboration August, 2006 Internal deployment of ALICE experiment SW (Aliroot, ) September, 2006 Dr. Federico Carminati, visited KISTI to discuss the construction of ALICE Tier2 Center in KISTI October, 2006 ALICE VOBOX installation and configuration December, 2006 Participated in the WLCG Tier-2 workshop in Asia held in Mumbai, presenting the status of KISTI ALICE Site February, 2007 Approved as an ALICE-LCG site October, 2007 WLCG MoU signed between KICOS and CERN KISTI becoming an official Tier2 site for ALICE experiment July, 2008 International Summer School on Grid computing and e-science Tutorial on ALICE computing (AliEn, ROOT, PROOF) May, 2009 T1/T2 ALICE Tutorial: Services Management before the real data taking

19 Transfer Rate (Gbit/s) Preliminary Test Results TCP Buffer Size of each system : 500MB Round Trip Time : 288ms MTU: 9180 Memory-to-Memory (iperf) Test with varied TCP window size TCP Window Size (MB) However, an average of transfer rate between KISTI and CERN over normal internet links is about 24Mbps

20 Review on the first year of the project

21 Plans for the Joint Development on ALICE Computing with CERN Had a meeting with CERN ALICE Computing group in CERN last May to discuss the extension of our collaboration on joint development work for ALICE Computing framework

22 Summary In the first year of the project, our main focus was on the followings: Acquisition of necessary computing resources that meet the agreement on the WLCG MoU Construction of KISTI ALICE Tier2 center Operation of KISTI site as part of ALICE distributed computing Grid In the second year of the project, we will spend some of our time and efforts on: Joint development with CERN on the ALICE core technology User support on the ALICE distributed computing

24 ALICE Grid Computing in Korea Sejong ALICECE cluster is running 58 nodes. Seyong Kim, Byunghee Han, Hyunggyu Kim KISTI ce-alice cluster is running 112 nodes. ~30 researchers in ALICE 24

25 KISTI ALICE Tier2 Centre s Roadmap 30 TB Storage in month SE + DPM ( dcache will be used in next year ) EMC FAS2050 (56TB physically) with 10Gbps connectivity Data transfer test between CERN-KISTI and ASGC-KISTI Test for KISTI Supercomputer We re under Software stack test Move to glite Function Test on CentOS4.6 & CentOS5.1 (x86_64) Tests are successfully finished on CentOS4.6 & CentOS5.1 VMs Some issues on Firewall ( ports, DNS, ) KISTI s Supercomputer is protected by very strong firewall policy Software stack / Queue The farm will be extended in next year 25
