1 Applicable Products These instructions apply to the following products: Barracuda Intronis Backup - MSP How to Create a Files and Folders Backup Before creating a files and folders backup set, make sure that you are familiar with the backup type restrictions and recommendations. 1. From the ECHOplatform ribbon bar, select the Manage tab In the Manage screen, navigate to the client account and expand it. Click on the computer ID hyper-link. Select the Backup tab. 5. In the Backup Type pane, click Files and Folders. 6. The Select page is displayed. 1 / 6

2 7. 8. Click the Backup Name to provide a new name for your backup set, or except the default name. At the Select Storage Location section, choose one of the following: 9. Local Only (for this to be active the Local Vault must be enabled and a local subscription is required.) Online and Local (for this to be active the Local Vault must be enabled.) Online Only (for this to be active there cannot be a Local Vault.) The selection is highlighted and the file and folders are displayed. Select the row of the files and folders you would like to backup. The computer where the agent is installed, and the available files and folders for backup are displayed. When clicking the arrow at the right of the items displays more files and folders. When choosing which files and folders to back up, it is strongly recommended you be selective in choosing what to back up. Selecting the entire drive partition will likely lead to warnings and errors later on since choosing to back up everything will inevitably pick up files that cannot be backed up with our software, for example temporary files and program files, to name just a couple. If you want to back up files and folder from a share, enter the UNC path in the Path field down here at the bottom of the screen. 2 / 6

3 10. Note When you add a network share, it may take a few moments for the software to load the contents of the share. Make sure you enter the network share in the Share Manager found in the local Backup Monitor. Click the View All Selected Items button, to display and remove any selections Note:Green text indicates that new items are automatically backed up. By default, selecting a folder displays green text. Red text indicates items that are excluded from the backup. Black text indicates items that are not automatically backed up. A count of the selected items appears at the upper-right of the list and decrements in real-time to match the quantity of selected items. Click the remove icon to remove items from your selection. Note: You may only remove items from the list. Click the save button to apply changes made in the pop-up. Note: Click Save commits the changes, closes the pop-up, and returns you to the Selection page. Click the Cancel button ignores changes made in the pop-up list and returns you to the selection page. After making your selections, click Next. The Schedule is displayed. The Schedule screen allows you to determine how often the backup runs. The options available are: By Minutes this means the backup can be scheduled on a minute to minute basis. The scheduled options are to run every 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. By Hour the backup can be scheduled between 1 and 999 hours. 3 / 6

4 By Day the backup can be scheduled to run on any specific day(s). If you want the backups to just run Monday to Friday, select the Every Weekday check box. By Week this option schedules the backup to run every day Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. The backups are allowed to finish before the next scheduled one starts. Time of Day - select the start time for the backup. If you need to have the backup stop at a specific time, for instance, before the workday begins, uncheck the Allow To Finish check box. You can setup multiple schedules, if needed. On the right of the screen, an overview of created schedules is displayed. If you decide not to keep the second schedule, just click the X. Notes: Multiple daily/weekly schedules are permitted (as long as they do not overlap). Minutely and hourly recurrences cannot be mixed with daily/weekly recurrences. Only one minutely or hourly schedule can be configured. Clearing the Allow to Finish check box allows you to assign an End time to cancel a running backup the following day. You must select a time before the next scheduled Start time. Your schedule is displayed in the Schedule column. Click Next when ready, or select Retention from the top navigation bar. The Retention page is displayed. The default revision rule is to keep 30 days and no fewer than 10 versions. This mean that 30 versions are kept. However, a setting of once a week means that after 10 weeks, 10 versions are kept The Enable Advance Archiving rule check box, allow you to keep revisions in a way that go beyond the standard format for revision rules. Make your selections, click Save Rule, and then click Next. The Advanced page is displayed. The Advanced page allows you to set a few options which change the way the File and Folder backup set behaves. Use the following table to help make optional selections. Advanced Selections Temporary Folder Snapshot Mode Explanation Optionally, specify where the temporary folder that is used in backing up files and folders resides. Requirement: You must specify a temporary folder located on a disk with sufficient space. Snapshot mode ensures all files are backed up from the same volume snapshot (recommended). 4 / 6

5 Failed File Behavior Wildcard Inclusions Specify how you want backups to handle failed files by retrying failed files and/or retrying locked files. Set wildcard inclusions to back up only certain file types. Separate each phrase with commas. Commit each phrase by pressing Enter. Archive Bit Temporary Folder: this is where we place files as we are backing up, this is where we encrypt, package and compress before uploading. Snapshot Mode: enable this to ensure files are backed up using the same volume snapshot. Failed File Behavior: determines how our backups handle failed files. Wildcard Inclusion: Enter wildcards to only backup certain file types. Archive Bit: skip backing up files with an unset Archive Bit. 18. After making your selections, click Next. The Summary page is displayed. 19. Verify your selections, and click the Create Backup Set. The Backup Selections page is displayed with your latest backup set. 5 / 6
