Preparing the repository This section contains the following topic: Ensuring that the repository is working, page 27 Bootstrap initialization for repository, page EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide

Ensuring that the repository is working The repository should be up, running and performing before you install Archive Services for SAP. Archive Services for SAP requires a fully functional repository; in addition, it writes configuration objects into the designated repository during the install. The installation creates an SAP cabinet in the repository and writes Archive Services for SAP administration objects in the System cabinet. Bootstrap initialization for repository This section is relevant only if you are installing Archive Services for SAP for the first time; you are not required to perform the tasks in this section if you are upgrading from a previous version of the product. Creating a user in the repository Repository user authentication is based on the authentication of the underlying operating system. This means that before a user can be created within the repository, it has to be created in the operating system. Note: The user that you create must be a member of the operating system of the repository host; this user may be a member of the local domain or the network domain. To create a user in the repository: 1. In Windows, create a new user: specify the username as dm_doclink_sap and assign a password of your choice. Assign the user s permission as System Administrator. Assign the following properties to the user s password: Password never expires Password does not time out 2. Log in to Documentum Administrator using the Administrator login credentials of the newly created repository. 3. From the tree pane on the left, choose Administration > User Management > Users. 4. From the File menu, choose New User 5. In the New User page, type the relevant fields. Some of the important fields that you should complete are: Privileges: From this drop down list, select Superuser. Extended Privileges: From this drop down list, select None. EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide 27

Client Capability: From this drop down list, select Consumer. Note: It is important to grant the user dm_doclink_sap Superuser privileges; this is a prerequisite for the bootstrap initialization. dm_doclink_sap workaround for UNIX If your repository is installed on a UNIX operating system, you may encounter a limitation on the length of user IDs in certain flavors of UNIX; this will prevent designating the user ID as dm_doclink_sap. Use the workaround described in the following sections to add dm_doclink_sap to the user list. This section contains the following topics: dm_doclink_sap workaround for UNIX (for repositories created using pre EMC Documentum Content Server 5.3 versions), page 63 dm_doclink_sap workaround for UNIX (for repositories created using EMC Documentum Content Server 5.3 and higher versions), page 64 dm_doclink_sap workaround for UNIX (for repositories created using pre EMC Documentum Content Server 5.3 versions) To add dm_doclink_sap to user list: 1. Create a UNIX OS user on the repository host server; this ID will be used for Archive Services for SAP operations. For example, you could assign the username as tuser1. 2. Using DA, create a new user in the repository called dm_doclink_sap. This user must be a superuser. 3. In the os user field, enter the name of the OS user created in step 1. In this example, this username is ʺtuser1.ʺ 4. When logging in to the repository, use the OS username created in step 1 ( tuser1 ). The system will automatically translate this username into dm_doclink_sap internally. dm_doclink_sap workaround for UNIX (for repositories created using EMC Documentum Content Server 5.3 and higher versions) To add dm_doclink_sap to user list: 1. Using DA 5.3 or higher, create a new user in the repository called dm_doclink_sap. This user must be a superuser. 28 EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide

2. When creating the new user, from the User Source drop down field, select Inline Password. 3. In the Password field, type a password of your choice. 4. In the page, enter other relevant details for the user and click Finish. Selecting the Inline Password option ensures that you do not need to create the dm_doclink_sap user (or a workaround user) in the operating system. The dm_doclink_sap user is not authenticated against the operating system; this is because the login credentials are stored in the repository itself. Creating connections to Centera If your installation scenario (refer to Installation scenarios, page 22) includes connections to Centera, you will have to create content addressable (CA) stores. For more information on creating CA stores, refer to the Creating Content Addressed Stores section of the External Viewing Services for SAP Administration Guide. Preparing the application server host This section contains the following topics: Ensuring sufficient temporary disk space on the host, page 29 Ensuring the Java heap size is sufficient, page 29 Supported operating systems and application servers, page 30 Ensuring sufficient temporary disk space on the host Application servers vary as to how much temporary disk space they require when an application is installed. Allow at least half a gigabyte of free disk space on the application server host for installing Archive Services for SAP. On Windows hosts, ensure that the free space is on the drive to which the TEMP environment variable points. Ensuring the Java heap size is sufficient Setting the Java heap size properly is important to avoid out of memory errors. For BEA, Tomcat, and Oracle, set the heap size to 512 MB. For Websphere, set the heap size to 1024 MB. EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide 29

Supported operating systems and application servers Archive Services for SAP can be installed on different combinations of Windows and application servers. For more information on supported combinations, refer to the Software requirements section of the External Viewing Services for SAP Release Notes. Preparing the application server software Before you run the installer for Archive Services for SAP, install a supported J2EE application server (refer to Supported operating systems and application servers, page 30) or the Apache Tomcat servlet container on the application server host and ensure that it can successfully serve sample JSP pages. This section contains information on preparing the application server software before installing EVS for SAP. Preparing Tomcat, page 30 Preparing BEA WebLogic, page 31 Preparing IBM WebSphere, page 33 Preparing Sun Java System Application Server, page 34 EMC Documentum does not provide support for installing or running application servers. Refer to the documentation for each application server for instructions on installing, stopping, starting, and running the application server. Contact the application server vendor for technical support. Preparing Tomcat Overview Archive Services for SAP is designed to run on Apache Tomcat application server. Leveraging Tomcat provides Archive Services for SAP with the following advantages: Platform neutrality Enhanced performance Scalability The Tomcat configuration needs to be modified to enable it to find all the building blocks of the ArchiveLink component. This section contains the following topics: Installing Tomcat, page 31 Verifying Apache Tomcat, page EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide

Installing Tomcat In the Tomcat installation wizard, be sure to select the option to install Tomcat with J2SE/JDK, and not JRE. All other default values that appear in the installation wizard are acceptable. By default, Apache Tomcat uses port 8080 for the HTTP connector port. However, the default port used by the Tomcat instance installed with EMC Documentum Content Server is 9080 (refer to Installing Content Server, page 25); you should not confuse the two. For detailed installation, configuration, and administration instructions, refer to the documentation available in Tomcat s Web site ( If Tomcat is installed to run from the command line, the CATALINA_HOME environment variable must be set properly. Tomcat can also be started from the command line; this is an option in Windows installations. For complete information on setting CATALINA_HOME, refer to Apache s documentation for Tomcat. Verifying Apache Tomcat After you install Tomcat, use these instructions to verify that Tomcat is running correctly. To verify that Apache Tomcat is running: 1. Open the default server home page in a browser: where host_name is the computer where Tomcat is installed and port_number is the port on which it listens. Substitute localhost for host_name if the browser is on the Tomcat host. 2. Click JSP Examples on the left side of the Tomcat home page. 3. Execute one of the examples. Preparing BEA WebLogic A BEA WebLogic installation must meet the following requirements before Archive Services for SAP is installed: WebLogic must be correctly installed in either single application server or Managed Server configuration. Refer to BEA s documentation for instructions. EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide 31

Set up a server alias and domain for the application. Ensure that the domain name does not contain any spaces. If you are installing multiple applications, you must decide whether to install them in the same domain or not. When multiple applications are installed in the same domain, all applications are started and stopped at the same time. If the applications are installed in different domains, they can be started and stopped separately and each application runs as a separate Java process. Ensure that the installation directory does not contain any spaces. For example, installing to C:\Program Files\BEA does not work. Determine two unused ports on which WebLogic can listen. The default port for HTTP requests is The default port for HTTPS requests is On Windows, decide whether to run WebLogic as a service or from the command line. This is determined when you configure WebLogic, not when the EMC Documentum application is installed. If you start WebLogic from the command line, to stop it, you must kill the process. Install EVS for SAP as the same user who installed the application server. WebLogic must be running when you install EVS for SAP. On HP UX with WebLogic 8.1, ensure that you install and run the HP Java Out of Box Kernel Configuration bundle. Download the bundle from HP s web site at downloads/license_java_oob.html. Release notes for the bundle are located at v2.03.html. EMC Documentum recommends creating a different domain in BEA WebLogic for each instance of Archive Services for SAP. Install to an instance of the application server running in development mode. Refer to the BEA WebLogic documentation for the correct procedure when you are ready to deploy an application in production mode. 32 EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide

In a WebLogic Managed Server environment, you must modify the main BEA server config.xml file and the load balancer web.xml file. To each of these files, add the following lines of code (or, if this code already exists, change the parameter value to false): <init param> <param name>keepaliveenabled</param name> <param value>false</param value> </init param> Do not make the above change in a single server environment, where the change causes runtime errors. BEA WebLogic can slow down, throw exceptions, or crash with an application that has a large number of Java Server Pages. BEA recommends setting the MaxPermSize parameter to 128 to avoid these problems. On WebLogic 8 with Solaris, ensure that the performance tuning option Use Native I/O is set correctly: Turn the setting off, or After installing the WDK application, edit the startdocumentum.sh file and add $BEA_HOME/weblogic81/server/lib/solaris to the Djava.library.path option. Preparing IBM WebSphere Ensure that the following requirements are fulfilled before you install Archive Services for SAP on IBM WebSphere: Install IBM WebSphere as the root user. Test the IBM samples to ensure that WebSphere is running properly. 44 Configuring RFC services Overview This section contains the following topics: Configuring RFC Windows services, page 44 Configuring logging, page 45 Configuring RFC Windows services Before starting the RFC Archive services on a Windows server, the RFC destination name must be identical, and unique for each repository SAP connection, in three locations: Windows RFC Archive service install SAP RFC configuration (SM59) WebAdmin ArchiveLink RFC configuration It is recommended that one of the following naming conventions be used, depending on the intended uses of Archive Services for SAP and the number of systems that will be integrated in the development, testing and production environments: <REPOSITORYNAME>_<SAPSYSID_CLIENT> (ex: APINVOICE_PRD_100) <DOCUMENTUMHOSTNAME>_<SAPSYSID_CLIENT> (ex: NTDCTMPRD01_PRD_100) <DOCUMENTUMHOSTNAME>_<SAPHOSTNAME> (ex: NTDCTMPRD01_SAPPRD01) Refer to Configuring SAP R/3 for External Viewing Services for SAP to configure the SAP RFC Destination and External Viewing Services for SAP Administration Guide to configure the External Viewing Services for SAP RFC Destination using the WebAdmin. To configure RFC services: 1. Access the Windows Services. 2. Locate the following RFC services: RFC Archive Handler <repository name>/<rfc_destination_name> RFC Archive Server <repository name>/<rfc_destination_name> 3. Right click the RFC Archive Handler service, and then select Properties. 4. From the Properties dialog box, select the Log On tab. 5. Select This account. Enter valid login credentials of the host SAP R3 system; this information is used by RFC Archive Services to access the shared directory located in the host SAP R3 system. 44 EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide

Note: A user with the login credentials described in this step should have been created already on the system where RFC Archive Services are run. 6. Click OK. 7. Repeat steps 3 6 for the RFC Archive Server service. Configuring logging If the RFC Archive services encounter any errors during start up or while running, there are two places where errors may be logged: Windows Event Viewer <EMC Documentum Installation Directory>\DocLink\log The Event Viewer can be accessed from Start > Programs > Administrative tools (Common) > Event Viewer. When you start the viewer choose both Application and System logs to see both types of messages. On Windows these are found under the Log menu. Archive Services for SAP errors may be classified as Source names ʺArchive Services for SAPʺ or ʺService Control Manager.ʺ RFC Archive aservice logs are written to a log file in C:\Documentum\DocLink\log (assuming default installation). These log files use the naming convention dmal*.log for the RFC Archive service. To change the log locations and debug levels, go to the following registry settings: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Documentum > Doclink > Archive > Docbase > <repository name>@<rfc connection name> Under these keys you will find a debug_level (3 is recommended for troubleshooting) and a log_dir which is the log path. Setting the debug level allows you to see if there are any problems and to make sure the software runs properly. Once the software runs as expected, be sure to set the debug level back to 0. If debugging is left on, log files fill up quickly even if nothing is archived, and can eventually consume a tremendous amount of disk space. Configuring the temporary store The al.properties file is located in <Tomcat Installation Directory>\webapps\<Virtual Directory>\WEB INF. You must configure the al.properties file so that it points to a valid directory in the file system with complete access rights; Archive Services for SAP writes data to file in this temporary store before reading or writing to HTTP request. For example, you could customize the relevant section of the al.properties file as follows: archiving.tempdir=c:\\archivelink EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide 45

Customizing the dfc.properties file for optimum performance Certain parameters must be customized in the dfc.properties file in order to optimize Documentum Client Library s (DMCL s) behavior; this is necessary to obtain optimum performance from Archive Services for SAP. To customize parameters in dfc.properties: 1. Choose Start > Run 2. In the Open field, type dfc.properties. The dfc.properties file opens. 3. Add the following attribute to dfc.properties: max_session_count = 10 This attribute determines the maximum number of sessions. Note: The value for this attribute is determined by the following formula: max_session_count [docbases.numberofconnections (default: 9) * numberofdocbases] + 1. In this formula, the following attributes: docbases.numberofconnections This attribute determines the number of connections established by the repository. The default value is 9. numberofdocbases This attribute indicates the number of repositories that have been installed. If you have installed one repository, this value will be 1. occur in the al.properties file (refer to Configuring the temporary store, page 45). After installing the first repository, you must set the value of max_session_count as 10 because, per the formula, max_session_count [docbases.numberofconnections (default: 9) * numberofdocbases (1)] + 1. Example 2 1. If you have 3 repositories installed, and the value of docbases.numberofconnections is 5, then max_session_count should be Set the values of the following attributes as indicated below: cache_queries = T local_diskfull_warn = 100 local_purge_on_diskfull = T local_path = <directory_where_cached_objects_are_stored> 46 EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide

Note: Customizing these attributes (cache_queries, local_diskfull_limit, and local_purge_on_diskfull) is not mandatory for Archive Services for SAP to function correctly. These customized attributes improve the performance of Archive Services for SAP; Archive Services for SAP, however, will function even if these attributes are not set. However, it is mandatory to add max_session_count to dfc.properties. Testing Archive Services for SAP Installation Overview After installing Archive Services, test the installation by: Setting up repository connections, page 47 Displaying configured repository connections, page 48 Defining an ArchiveID in WebAdmin, page 48 Defining a logical ArchiveID in SAP, page 50 Testing connection between SAP and Archive Services, page 51 Creating a Document Type in SAP, page 51 Archiving a Print List, page 52 Viewing a Print List, page 53 Setting up repository connections 1. To test the web server, enter the following URL in your browser on the server host: A valid Microsoft Welcome to IIS web page should display from your local drive. Errors or web pages from Internet sites indicate that the software is not installed or configured properly or that the World Wide Web Publishing Service and/or the IIS Service is not running. If these services are stopped you must start them and try the test again. Windows Scripting Host IIS must be completely installed and running with the VB scripting options. If scripting is not installed, the WebAdmin tool will not work. Access to a Documentum Content Server and an R/3 SAP server. See the EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP Release Notes for supported versions. SAPGUI During installation Content Services for SAP requires certain DLL libraries from SAP in order to operate. For this reason it is a prerequisite that the latest version of SAPGUI be installed on the Content Services server. The SAPGUI should be launched from the Content Services server to test the SAP logon and verify the network connection. After Content Services for SAP is installed, the SAPGUI will be needed to get the SAP information required for the WebAdmin configurations. SAP R/3 server (UNIX or Windows) Manual configuration of SAP ArchiveLink and SAP DMS are prerequisites for installation of Content Services for SAP. Please refer to Configuring SAP R/3 for Content Services for SAP. Caution: Documentum is not responsible for problems encountered during installation due to SAP related issues such as empty or wrongly configured tables, or needed support packages, hot fixes, or OSS Notes. Documentum requires that you read and apply all ArchiveLink and DMS related OSS Notes and patches prior EMC Documentum External Viewing Services for SAP Version 6.0 Installation Guide 57
