Avaya grants End User a license within the scope of the license types described below. The applicable number of licenses and units of capacity for which the license is granted will be one (1), unless a different number of licenses or units of capacity is specified in the Documentation or other materials available to End User. "Designated Processor" means a single standalone computing device. "Server" means a Designated Processor that hosts a software application to be accessed by multiple users. "Software" means the computer programs in object code, originally licensed by Avaya and ultimately utilized by End User, whether as stand-alone Products or pre-installed on Hardware. "Hardware" means the standard hardware Products, originally sold by Avaya and ultimately utilized by End User. License type(s) Designated System(s) License (DS): End User may install and use each copy of the Software on only one Designated Processor, unless a different number of Designated Processors is indicated in the Documentation or other materials available to End User. Avaya may require the Designated Processor(s) to be identified by type, serial number, feature key, location or other specific designation, or to be provided by End User to Avaya through electronic means established by Avaya specifically or this purpose. Concurrent User License (CU): End User may install and use the Software on multiple Designated Processors or one or more Servers, so long as only the licensed number of Units are accessing and using the Software at any given time. A "Unit" means the unit on which Avaya, at its sole discretion, bases the pricing of its licenses and can be, without limitation, an agent, port or user, an or voice mail account in the name of a person or corporate function (e.g., webmaster or helpdesk), or a directory entry in the administrative database utilized by the Product that permits one user to interface with the Software. Units may be linked to a specific, identified Server. Database License (DL): Customer may install and use each copy of the Software on one Server or on multiple Servers provided that each of the Servers on which the Software is installed communicate with no more than a single instance of the same database. CPU License (CP): End User may install and use each copy of the Software on a number of Servers up to the number indicated by Avaya provided that the performance capacity of the Server(s) does not exceed the performance capacity specified for the Software. End User may not re-install or operate the Software on Server(s) with a larger performance capacity without Avaya's prior consent and payment of an upgrade fee. Named User License (NU): Customer may: (i) install and use the Software on a single Designated Processor or Server per authorized Named User (defined below); or (ii) install and use the Software on a Server so long as only authorized Named Users access and use the Software. "Named User," means a user or device that has been expressly authorized by Avaya to access and use the Software. At Avaya's sole discretion, a "Named User" may be, without limitation, designated by name, corporate function (e.g., webmaster or helpdesk), an or voice mail account in the name of a person or corporate function, or a directory entry in the administrative database utilized by the Product that permits one user to interface with the Product. Shrinkwrap License (SR): With respect to Software that contains elements provided by third party suppliers, End User may install and use the Software in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable license agreements, such as "shrinkwrap" or "clickwrap" license accompanying or applicable to the Software ("Shrinkwrap License"). The text of the Shrinkwrap License will be available from Avaya upon End User s request (see Third-party Components" for more information). Copyright: Except where expressly stated otherwise, the Product is protected by copyright and other laws respecting proprietary rights. Unauthorized reproduction, transfer, and or use can be a criminal, as well as a civil, offense under the applicable law. This document details the steps to install the Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable Operating System on IBM x3650 M2 or HP ProLiant DL 385 G2/G5 Server. Before proceeding with this release note, for determining the correct order of referring to the release notes, refer to the Sequence of using Avaya Proactive Contact Release Notes document on the Avaya Support site: 1. Pre-requisites 1.1. Obtaining Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable You can order all the CDs or DVDs for Avaya Proactive Contact using the high level bundle code There are two ways to obtain this release: Ordering the installation CD labeled Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable, Material ID: Downloading the ISO file from Avaya Support Web site and writing it on a CD. To download the ISO file: Page 2

5 1. Go to Avaya Support site at 2. In the left pane, click Downloads. 3. In the Please enter the name of your product text box, type Proactive Contact. The Proactive Contact option appears below the text box. 4. Click Proactive Contact. The webpage is redirected to the Avaya Proactive Contact page. 5. From the version drop down box, select 4.1.x. 6. Download the Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable ISO file. To write the ISO file on a CD: 1. Insert a blank writable CD in the CD / DVD RW drive. NOTE: You can use any available CD writing tool such as Roxio or Nero to write the ISO file on a CD. 2. Select the Image burning option from the CD writing software. For Roxio, select Copy > Burn Image option. For Nero Express, select Image, Project, and Copy > Disc Image or Saved Project option. 3. Browse and select the ISO image for burning. Wait until the CD burning is completed. 4. Label the CD as Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable Material ID: Hardware Requirements This section lists the hardware requirement to install this OS release. IBM x3650 M2 Form Factor Rack Server (2U Rack Height) Quad Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 2.27GHz with hyper threading (HT) enabled 8 MB Level 3 Cache 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR MHz with Advanced ECC capabilities Integrated dual Gigabit Ethernet NICs Hot-swappable Power supplies, fans, Hard Disks Internal DVD+RW 8x drive MegaRAID Hardware Based RAID Controller RAID 1 configuration: Hot Pluggable 2.5" 2 x 146GB 10,000 RPM SAS drives Page 3

7 Important: Ensure that RAID 1 is configured. If you have ordered RAID-5, ensure that RAID-5 is configured before installing the Operating System. 8 English Firmware Setting Enhanced -BIOS 41Y Installation This section describes the procedure to install Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable Pre-installation Procedure Important: Ensure that RAID 1 is configured. If you have ordered RAID-5, ensure that RAID-5 is configured before installing the Operating System Preparation Before you install Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable, note the following: The install will completely erase and reformat the target disk; ensure to take backup for the existing data. Identify the hostname that is to be assigned to the system. Also, identify the IP addresses that are to be assigned to the machine s built-in network interfaces. Do not install the operating system to a machine whose network interface is not properly connected and/or terminated. The operating system software includes drivers for the network interface(s). If a valid interface does not exist at the time of installation, the vital software might not get installed or configured successfully Installation Procedure 1. Insert Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable CD in the CD/DVD ROM of the server. 2. Boot the server with the Avaya Proactive Contact Linux ES Bootable CD. 3. At the boot: prompt, type expert and press Enter. The Please press Enter to activate this console prompt appears. 4. Press Enter. 5. On the What Do You Want To Do? screen, keep the default ( Install from CD/DVD ) option. Tab to OK and press Enter. 6. In the Select an Installation Drive screen, tab to the Hard Disk option and press Space bar to select the hard disk. Tab to OK and press Enter. Usually there are no changes in this menu. Select the default values. 7. In the Warning Format Disk Warning, the Warning: The installation process will format the /xxx/xxx drive. Page 6

9 Formatting will erase existing data. Are you sure you want to continue?, message appears. Tab to Yes and press Enter. 8. From the list of Server Type, press Spacebar to select one of the following: Select HPDL385G2, if you have HP Proliant DL385G2/G5 server. Select IBMX3550, if you have IBM x3650 M2 Server. 9. Tab to OK and press Enter. 10. On the What Do You Want To Do? menu, select the default ( Install Linux OS + PC4.0 Addons ) option. Tab to OK and press Enter. 11. On the Select Optional Applications menu, select the default options. The following options are selected: Linux Operating System RHE4.0-AV13.1 Core Services Configuration RHE4.0-AV13.1 Avaya PC4.0 OS Addons Tab to OK and press Enter. 12. On the Date/Time Initialization window, set the following parameters using the up or down arrow key. To move to the other fields, press Tab: Date Year Time TimeZone NTP Server (if required) 13. Tab to OK and press Enter. 14. At the Configure Network Information screen: Backspace over server1 and enter your hostname and press Tab. If required, fill in the DNS Domain field (For example DNS Domain = rnd.avaya.com) and press Tab. If required, fill in the DNS Server field (For example DNS Server = ) and press Tab. Enter the IP addresses and the netmasks for eth0 and eth1. Enable the Ethernet card as required. If required, enter the default gateway address. 15. Tab to OK and press Enter. 16. In the Reboot after Install? prompt, press Y and press Enter. The system starts the partitioning of the hard disk. After the partitioning is Page 7

10 complete, the software starts loading. When the installation is complete, the Disk Master Complete message appears. System reboots automatically. NOTE: After installing the Operating System, the system reboots twice Post-Installation Procedure From the console, you may login as sroot.(see Appendix A for default accounts). If you wish to access the system via the network, see Appendix B for details. After the installation is complete, you should verify the following: 1. IP address and hostname. Type /sbin/ifconfig eth0 and press Enter. The IP details are displayed on the second line of the output. For example, inet addr: The UP BROADCAST RUNNING message is displayed on the fourth line of the output. Verify the IP address and hostname that appear in /etc/hosts. Ensure that you can ping the self hostname, For example, ping rdhp Default Gateway Check the netstat r routing table. Verify that the entry against the default Destination is set to the IP address that has been given in the Configure Network Information window at the time of installing the OS. If required, set the default gateway with the following: /sbin/route add default gw <default gateway IP address> Ensure that you can successfully ping a machine on another subnet. 3. Partition Layout Execute df -h. You should be able to see information similar to the example that is given below.
