1 Release Notes Emulex OneCommand Manager Application for VMware vcenter Release Purpose and Contact Information These release notes describe the supported operating systems, new features, resolved issues, known issues, and technical tips associated with this release of the Emulex OneCommand Manager application for VMware vcenter. For the latest product documentation, and for supported driver versions, go to If you have questions or require additional information, contact an authorized Technical Support representative at Supported Operating Systems VMware vcenter Server 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7 ESXi 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7 New Features Adds support for LPe35000-series adapters. NOTE: Do not use a driver earlier than the drivers documented in these release notes with LPe35000-series adapters. The VMware ESXi 6.0 operating system is supported, but no new features were added. Resolved Issues 1. The setlunxlaneconfig command displays the correct error message after the ExpressLane TM feature is disabled on ESXi 6.7 system LUNs. 2. Internal and external loopback tests on ESXi 6.7 systems using the OneCommand Manager CLI application for VMware vcenter work correctly when specifying a non-default value for the number of loopback cycles. Known Issues 1. The Fiber Optic Interconnect Technology (FOIT) AFCT-57F3TMZ-ELX (16GFC longwave optic transceiver) does not support D_Port (also called ClearLink ) for Brocade switches and MDS Diagnostic for Cisco switches. 2 2. Beginning with software release 11.2, FC HBAs and OneConnect converged network adapters (CNAs) have independent software kits. Before updating earlier drivers and applications to the software in release , refer to the Emulex Software Kit Migration User Guide for special instructions and considerations for using the 11.2 and later software kits for FC HBAs and OneConnect CNAs. 3. The OneCommand Manager application does not support the Diffie-Hellman Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (DHCHAP) authentication between the adapter and the switch. 4. The getlunxlaneconfig command does not display the LUN priority list for ExpressLane LUNs when the link is down. 5. When using an Internet Explorer 11 browser, navigating to the Index or Search pages in the online help results in those pages being blank. Click Contents and refresh the browser, or load the help URL in a different browser. 6. The OneCommand Manager GUI application for VMware vcenter is not supported on ESXi 6.7 systems. Use the OneCommand Manager CLI application for VMware vcenter, or the Windows OneCommand Manager GUI or CLI application for Windows, or the esxcli management tool on ESXi 6.7 systems. 7. The message WWN Management is disabled while FA-PWWN is enabled is sometimes displayed when Fabric Assigned Port World Wide Name (FA-PWWN) is not enabled. 8. The OneCommand Manager application for VMware vcenter does not support vport management. Technical Tips 1. The OneCommand Manager application for VMware vcenter does not appear in the vsphere Web Client after upgrading the VMware vcenter Server Appliance (VCSA). Refer to the following VMware KB for the solution to this issue The response time for the OneCommand Manager application for VMware vcenter might be slow. To achieve the best performance, the systems hosting the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter should be on the same network as the vcenter server, with a minimal number of network hops. 3. Registering the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter with the vcenter server fails with the following error: User has no privileges. 2

3 The user is not listed in the data center. Follow these steps to ensure the user has the required privileges: a. In the vsphere console, select any parent node of the host or cluster in the inventory tree and click the Permissions tab. b. Right-click and select Add Permission. c. From the Assigned Role list in the right pane, select a role with the required privileges. Refer to the Emulex OneCommand Manager Application for LightPulse Adapters User Guide for the list of required privileges and for more information on role management. d. From the Users and Groups section on the left, click Add. The Assign Permissions window is displayed. e. Select the user or the group to which the user belongs and click Add. f. Click OK. g. Register the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter application. 4. If the Emulex OneCommand tab in the vsphere console shows Loading or is blank, perform the following steps: a. Right-click and check whether the message Movie not loaded is present in the context menu. b. If the message is present and you are using an Internet Explorer browser, select Tools > Internet Options. c. Click the Advanced tab. d. From the Security list, clear the Do not save encrypted pages to disk check box. e. Restart the vsphere console. 5. To view online help using the Google Chrome browser, you must disable Chrome's security check using the --allow-file-access-from-files option. a. Create a copy of the Chrome shortcut on the desktop, and rename it to RH Chrome Local (or something similar). b. Right-click the new Chrome icon and select Properties. c. Add the text --allow-file-access-from-files to the end of the path appearing in Target. You must leave a space between the original string and the tag you are adding. d. Click OK to save your settings. e. Close any open instances of Chrome. f. To open a local copy of the online help, use the new shortcut to open Chrome, press Ctrl + Open, and browse to the start page. Alternatively, open Chrome with the new shortcut, right-click the start page, and select Open With > Google Chrome. 6. CIM providers refresh data every 10 minutes if the provider module is not reloaded by the CIMOM or user. This is done to improve performance by reducing the number of calls to the lower stack. A few exceptional classes, such as statistics, are refreshed for each query. 7. To manage a remote ESXi 6.5 host using the OneCommand Manager application, set the configuration parameter enablesslv3 to true in the SFCB configuration file (/etc/sfcb/sfcb.cfg). By default, this parameter is not present in the configuration. To add or update the enablesslv3 parameter, perform these steps: a. Stop the sfcb-watchdog application. Type the following command: etc/init.d/sfcbd-watchdog stop b. Add or update the following lines in the /etc/sfcb/sfcb.cfg file: enablesslv3: true sslcipherlist: HIGH 3

4 c. Start the sfcb-watchdog application. Type the following command: etc/init.d/sfcbd-watchdog start 8. If existing ExpressLane LUNs targets are no longer discovered, you might see inconsistent behavior while configuring ExpressLane for any newly discovered LUNs. a. On the VMware host, run the following command: esxcfg-module -s "" lpfc b. For ESXi 6.5 and 6.7 systems, restart the cimserver with following commands: esxcli system wbem set -e 0 esxcli system wbem set -e 1 9. In Windows 8 and later and Windows Server 2012 and later, using OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter CLI audit commands shows irrelevant error messages. For Windows 8 and later and Windows Server 2012 and later, the C: disk is highly protected; even an administrator has limited privileges. For example, the contents in the C:\Program Files\ directory have no write privileges or full control privileges. Do one of the following: Assign your account write privileges and full control privileges to the C:\Program Files\ directory. Install the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter application on another disk, such as D:. 10. One or more hosts might not be discovered in the cluster-level view. Ensure that the following conditions are met: CIM.Interaction privilege is assigned to either the user or the user group. None of the hosts in the cluster are in a Not responding state, as shown in the VMware inventory tree. If unresponsive hosts are present, either bring them back to a stable state, or remove the unresponsive hosts from the inventory before starting any operations in the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter application while in the cluster view. 11. Link Up and Link Down events are not logged in the Tasks/Events tab in the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter application. Close the existing vsphere session window and reopen a new session. The Link Up and Link Down events are updated. 12. The OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter application does not load in the VMware web client when Internet Explorer 10 or later browsers are used. The Troubleshooting section of the Emulex OneCommand Manager Application for VMware vcenter for LightPulse Adapters User Guide includes procedures to accept blocked content as a temporary remedy for certificate or insecure-content warnings for Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. The Internet Explorer procedure in the user guide is correct for Internet Explorer 9 or earlier browser versions. To accept blocked content for Internet Explorer 10 and later browser versions, use the same procedure as for Chrome and Firefox. a. Load the plugin URL in a separate tab or window. 5 For example: NOTE: You can extract the plugin server, IP address, host name, and port number from the browser warning message. b. Confirm or accept the certificate warning. c. Refresh the vsphere web client tab or window. 13. The OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter does not display raw transceiver data through the CIM interface. Use the esxmgmtcli tool. 14. On an ESXi host, when FA-PWWN is enabled or disabled and an adapter port is reset using the esxcli elxmgmt plugin, operations performed on the adapter using the OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter might not work as expected. To discover the adapter ports with the new WWPN, restart the Small-Footprint CIM Broker (SFCB) on the ESXi host and refresh OneCommand Manager for VMware vcenter. 15. LPe31000-series and LPe32000-series adapters may experience a link-down condition after running a cable link diagnostics test when they are connected to Brocade switches running Fabric OS (FOS) versions prior to v Manually reset the switch port using the portdporttest --exit command. 5
