"Snap" means it will instantly go the next step's value. 3. Specify the scene duration (default 1000 ms). To apply this time to all steps check "Global scene time". Also set the fade time for the channels marked "Fade" (set by the fade/snap buttons). To apply the time to all steps check "Global Fade time". 4. Click the add button to add a step to the sequence. Repeat all previous steps to accomplish your sequence. Click the save buttons to save your work, give the sequence a good name and click "Save" Extra options/functions: 1. Copy step 2. Cut step 3. Paste step 1. Delete 2. New sequence 1. Insert step 1. Save changes to all steps 2. Quick save: save changes to the sequence without dialog (if the sequence was previously saved) Test sequence: 1. Run sequence 2. Previous step 3. Next step Ever wanted to create a wave with several fixtures, but never had a good result or spend an afternoon creating it? With this simple sequence creator you can create such effect in a matter of seconds! 1. Select the fixtures you want to include in the wave (order is based on the fixture list) 2. Select the type of wave/effect 3. For a wave between fixtures you need to check "Distribute fixtures evenly" otherwise all the fixtures will have the same coordinates 4. Save your sequence Combine (under a cuelist) several fx sequences to get instant special effects. When the Cue window is opened, or another sequence is running in the SequenceCreator, it will open in Offline mode. This mode won't change the output to the interface nor interfere with running sequences. Create sequences the same way you normally do. Create and use presets: Press the create sequence button on the main screen. The following screen appears: Freestyler has two types of presets: fixture presets and global presets. a) A fixture preset stores values for one fixture and can be applied to several fixtures of the same type. b) A global preset stores values for all the configured fixtures in FreeStyler. 1. Create a preset - Open the sequence editor - Select one fixture for creating a fixture preset or select several fixtures for a global one. - Make the desired changes (channels must be set active: "Snap" or "Fade") - Once all the changes made click a preset in the list and click "Save preset" - An icon indicates the type of preset. - Give your preset a name (click on "empty") 2. Using a preset - Open or create a new sequence in the sequence editor - select the fixtures on which you want to apply a preset - select the desired preset - click on "Apply to sel. fix." A red icon indicates the presence of preset values 3. Edit a preset - Right click on a preset and select "Edit preset" - The preset is now loaded in the sequence editor for editing - After editing you must click on "Save preset" to save the changes 4. Remove a preset - Right click on a preset and choose "Remove preset" 5. Remove preset settings from a fixture in a sequence - right click on a fixture and select "Remove presets" (needs to be repeated for each step in the sequence)
7 Upload scenes: Some dongles can store a single scene for backup purposes (AVR dongle, Cinetix and Dmx4all interfaces). This becomes very handy when your computer system has some issues or you simply want to use your interface standalone. To upload a scene: - Open the create sequence window by clicking on the corresponding icon. - Set all the desired values for each fixture. Change DMX values - When done click on "Upload scene" Playback sequence: - Click on the "Cue" icon on the toolbar. The following screen appears: - Go to the menu and click on "insert sequence" - Select the scene or sequence you would like to insert in the list and drag it to the cue list. - Repeat until all desired sequences are loaded into the cue To play a sequence, press on the corresponding sequence button. All sequences can run a the same time with LTP (latest takes precedence).(make sure you have configured the "Multiselect" keyboard shortcut) Set the playback speed off a sequence by sliding the corresponding speed slider to the desired speed. Right click on it to set it back to 100% During playback you can override all DMX values, to do this you only have to change the sliders and or Gobo / Color / Pan Tilt / settings. Automatically the corresponding button under the slider (on the main screen) will get the override icon. Also in the gobo - color - Pan/Tilt - windows the corresponding button will get the override icon. (To undo override press the button.) To undo all override settings at once press. To instantly blackout all fixtures press the "Blackout" button on the main screen or "TAB" Other Cue functions / options: Control sequence by time (elapsed / realtime): To enable time control: "options" -> "Enable timecode" -> "Timecode elapsed" or "Timecode realtime" Timecode elapsed: The timer starts at 00:00:00 Timecode realtime: Windows time Fill in the time in following format: hh:mm:ss After setting all options you can save the cue (see menu). Afterwards you can recall the cue very easy with the "Fast cue switcher" When you want to sync. the speed of the running sequences with an external signal you can use the "Tap Sync." button. You must press the button 3 times (blue led wil flash), if red led is on tap is disabled. Cuelist buttons: The cuelist buttons are used to start a complete cue at once. You can create a sequence for the shutter, one for gobo, one for color,... and combine them in one cue and start them all together. How does it work: First create some sequences and add them to the cue Once your cue finished, save it (check the checkbox to add the cue directly to the cuelistbuttons) Drag and drop the cue from the open dialog to the cuelistbuttons If the buttons aren't visiable you should check the menu ("Cuelist buttons visible") Manual trigger: All running sequences are triggered to the next scene and pauzed. Repeat sequence or single play Reverse: Play the sequence reversed Random: Play random scenes from the sequence. Restore DMX values when sequence stopped.
8 Submaster playback: In each submaster you can load a cue (drag & drop from the cue list) from wich the intensity is controlled by the slider on the right (HTP). The sequence in the list is run by pressing "Run" or stopped by pressing "Stop". You can select another sequence by clicking "Go" (next sequence) and "Back" (previous step). When one of the submasters is enabled then you can't use the cue because they use the same system!! When the submaster window is opened without any submaster enabled the sequence window won't update any intensity channels!!! When running a submaster you can change the speed and other options in the cue window. Submaster 1 corresponds with the 1st sequence, submaster 2 with the second sequence, etc... Up to 20 submasters can be configured and run at the same time. Programmable override buttons: The programmable override buttons are used to play the first scene of a sequence with highest priority. The values of the scene are transmitted as override values so they have the highest priority in Freestyler (LTP). The buttons can be configured as latch (on/off) or flash. These buttons can be used to control strobes, dmx powerpacks and other types of special scenes. To configure these buttons: - Press the configuration icon in the left corner and click "Insert scenes". The open window appears. - Drag & drop a sequence or scene from the open window to one of the buttons. - Right click on a button and configure it as a flashbutton if desired - Check "Disable all other buttons" If you want to disable all other buttons when you select this button Extra options: - Highest priority: if checked the overridebuttons will have priority over manual overridevalues. otherwise manual overridevalues will be left unchanged. You want more buttons? If you want more buttons you can create up to 6 pages with 30 buttons each (180 buttons). Right click on a tab and click "Add Page". Dmx 400 rgb: Many people have an external dimmerpack with PARs connected to; most of these people need a separate chaser to control these. That's why there is a build in chaser in the Freestyler software: DMX400. You can even use it with RGB fixtures!!! Specifications: channel - Dimmer / channel - Flash / channel - Master dimmer - Master flash - Background - Static or chaser modus - 9 different chases - Can be controlled by sound - Fade time - RGB support Configuration of DMX 400: First step is to make sure that you've configured some Pars or RGB fixtures. See add / remove fixtures Now right click on the fixture you want to control with the DMX400 on channel 1 and select "Use in DMX400", Freestyler will ask you the DMX400 channel (1-12). Repeat these step for each fixture you want to control with DMX400, but always make sure it has an intensity channel or RGB channels! The three buttons on the right are only for RGB functionality (Disable color changing, all same color and vivid colors) You can use DMX 400 in two modes: Static (no animation) or chaser (animation). Each channel has its own intensity, there is a master intensity and a background intensity (always visible). To change chaser pattern press the "Program" button, if you want to change pattern after a certain time then press the button under the interval slider and set the desired interval. Note: When running sequences at the same time: the chaser only works when in a sequence the corresponding channels are set to" off". If in a sequence the same channels are marked as "Fade" or "Snap" then the sequence has priority and the DMX400 channels are ignored.
9 Sound to light: With the sound to light module you can make the fixtures or sequences (including the DMX400 ) react to the music. You can use Windows Mediaplayer, Winamp, sound-in,... To enable sound to light: 1. Select your soundcard 2. Press "Start" 3. Select the task: - "Jump to next scene" : controls running sequences and the DMX400 chaser - "Random DMX value": This generates a random value for following fixture channels: gobo, color, pan & tilt. Make sure you've enabled the fixtures to react to the sound: Right click on a fixture -> react to sound 4. Set desired sensitivity and delay "Random DMX value" options You can give a min. and max. value to limit random values (useful when blackout channel is the same as gobo or color channel) Fixture creator: With the FixtureCreator you can create or modify fixtures for Freestyler. When finished you can export it to one file which contains all source files, this is very handy to backup your fixtures or distribute them. Fill in the manufacturer; this is also the name that will appear in the fixturelist. If the manufacturer already exists please respect the already existent name. When you click on the fixture picture, the imagelist will be filled up with all the pictures that reside in the "Fixture" folder. Search for the corresponding fixture and click on it. The picture will appear in the textbox and the image is loaded. The channel description will be used as tooltip on the sliders and in the output window. These descriptions are limited to 8 characters and most of them are filled in automatically after completing the first page. You can also specify the "Locate" and "Default" values for this fixture. First of all fill in the channel values for the gobos, afterwards click in the first empty Picture field. Select in the imagelist the desired gobo, when successful the gobo will appear on the right. If it's unsuccessful a red cross will appear, indicating that there was an error. The way of configuring colors is the same as the gobo configuration In the "Special functions" tab you can define macros for this fixture. These macros collect values for all or a part of the channels. If you don't want to have a value for a channel just leave it blank. Freestyler has support for framing systems like in the Martin MAC2000 performance. Fill-in the channel numbers and the rotation channel (if available). When the fixture is loaded into Freestyler a new icon will be visible wich gives you access to following window: If you want to backup your fixtures or you want to distribute your fixtures then use the export function. This function packs all the source files into one file: *.pff. The *.pff file can be retrieved in the export directory. These files can be imported again by using the import function of the FixtureCreator or by double clicking on the *.pff file. This will install all the files to the right locations. ATTENTION: Never rename a *.pff file!!! In the comment box, you put a version number, if it's tested and other relevant data. In the channel labels you put the channel of the corresponding function. Please keep in mind that a channel can not exceed 33!
