About CDP Data Center Console Data Center Console (DCC) is designed to provide a centralized monitoring and management domain over a large collection of CDP Servers. After installing the Console, customers may add each of their Advanced and Enterprise Edition CDP Servers via a convenient registration panel within DCC's administration web application. Once added, each CDP Server will continuously update Console's Dashboard with information about its configuration and status. DCC also allows users to "drill down" to any of the connected CDP Servers to manage their configuration or view some particular details. This is done in a convenient way using special quick access bar. Data Center Console provides domain level user and group management. You can create users and groups, define their permissions and then use their credentials to log in to any connected CDP Server: all created users and groups are "pushed down" to the CDP Servers. This allows customers to centralize user administration across the domain. 4

Identification Name - Unique name to identify the Disk Safe in the system: in the "Disk Safe" list, while creating jobs, etc. This is a mandatory field. Agent Agent ( Enterprise Edition) - Select a CDP Agent for which you create the Disk Safe. The replicas of this Agent will be kept in the current Disk Safe. Disk Safe Location Assign This Disk Safe to a Volume ( Enterprise Edition) - You can optionally assign the Disk Safe to a Volume. Volumes allow you to set disk quota. Volumes can have user groups and users associated. Volume ( Enterprise Edition) - Select a volume to which you will assign the Disk Safe. Path - ( Standard Edition) Path to the folder where the Disk Safe files will be located. If the defined directory does not exist, it will be created. This is a mandatory field in Standard Edition. Example for Windows: c:\disk_safe Note To copy the Disk Safe, you will need to copy its folder defined in the "Path" field. 32

Note Windows network share should always be specified using a UNC style path (e.g. \\server\share\folder) convention. Compression Compression is the reduction in size of data in order to save disk space or transmission time. CDP works with ZLib encoding schemes (also known as Gzip). Compression Type - You can select one (1) of three (3) possible values from the drop-down menu: None - This is the default value. No compression will be applied. QuickLZ - Selecting this value means turning the compression on. The QuickLZ type of compression will be applied. Zlib - Selecting this value means turning the compression on. The ZLib type of compression will be applied. For Backups over the Internet or other slow links, we recommend turning compression on. Disk Safes use ZLib (also known as gzip compatible) compression and are capable of delivering about a 2:1 compression ratio in most environments. Devices You can add one, several, or all Devices. Note You will be able to exclude folders/files while creating a policy for this Disk Safe. You can select one (1) of the options in the ratio menu: Protect All Devices - This is the value selected by default. Selecting this option means choosing all the Devices on the Agent and assigning them to this Disk Safe. Choose Devices to Protect - If you select this option, you will be able to define which Devices on the Agent will be assigned to this Disk Safe after clicking on the "Create" button. Protect Storage Configuration ( Enterprise Edition, Advanced Edition) - Checkbox which allows you to define if to protect the Storage Configuration. Protect Unmounted Devices ( Enterprise Edition) - This is a Windows only ability to backup file systems that are not mounted (e.g. not assigned a drive letter). The most common use is for Windows 2008 R2 server installs that use the new system reserved partition (not all 2008 R2 installs do this). For more information, see System Reserved Partition notes for Windows Server 2008 R2. We recommend selecting this checkbox if you use Windows 2008 R2 servers with a system reserved partition. 5. The new Disk Safe will appear on the CDP Server. 33

Please, visit the following pages, in the CDP3 documentation, for more information about Disk Safes, Policies and Agents: CDP Agents - General information about the CDP Agents. Storing Disk Safe on a Windows Network Share - Instructions on how to save Disk Safes on a Windows Network Share. Creating Policies - Instructions on how to create a new policy. Creating Volumes in Data Center Console It is possible to create new Volumes on CDP servers using the Data Center Console. Follow the instructions below. 1. Select Volumes from the Main Menu. You will enter the "Volumes" screen. 34

The list of all Volumes from all connected CDP Servers is displayed. 2. Click on "Create New Volume." 3. Select the CDP Server form the drop-down menu and click "Select CDP." 4. The "Create New Volume" window will open. The window contains the following tabs: Identification Users Groups Limits Identification 35

Define the following Identification options: Name - Volume name is used to identify the Volume in the system. For example, to assign a Volume to the Disk Safe, you need to select a Volume name from the drop-down menu. Description - Additional information describing the Volume. The Description is displayed in the Volumes list. Volume Path - New or existing folder. The assigned Disk Safes will be placed in this folder. Users This tab allows you to assign users to the Volume. Select a user name from the drop-down menu and click on the green plus icon. The user will appear in the Users area. Note If you need to remove an assigned user from the Volume properties window, click on the "Delete" (red X) icon in front of the user. Groups 36

This tab allows you to assign groups to the Volume. Select a group name from the drop-down menu and click on the Add button. The group will appear in the Groups area. Note If you need to remove an assigned group from the Volume properties window, click on the Delete (red X) icon in front of the group. Limits This tab allows you to create Data Retention rules, define Quotas, and set other options. Options 37

Data Retention Here you can set the limits for Recovery and Archive Points stored in all of the Disk Safes assigned to the Volume. When the combined number of Recovery/Archive Points in all of the Disk Safes exceeds the defined limits, the old Recovery/Archive Points will be merged. Quotas Quotas are set to limit the disk usage of the Volume. The limit is set for all Disk Safes in the Volume on the basis of space occupied by Disk Safes, size of deltas, or number of deltas. Tip You can define Disk Quotas in Configuration. Quota Type - From the drop-down menu, select a quota type: On Disk Size - Quota is based on the raw Disk file size of all the Disk Safes and their files in the Volume's folder. Size of Deltas in Disk Safe - The quotas will calculate the sum of the sizes (after compression) of the actual block level deltas in the Disk Safe file. Disk Safe's overhead and unused space in the Disk Safe file are not counted against the quota. 38

Note Similar to a database, the Disk Safe format adds overhead to the raw data. This can happen if you delete more deltas from the Disk Safe than you add. For example, you delete a large number of data from the data set you are protecting. That data are no longer retained in any of your Recovery Points. As old Recovery Points are merged out and block-level deltas are no longer needed, they are "freed" from the Disk Safe file. Until there is a vacuum of the Disk, the size of the Disk Safe.db file(s) will not get smaller. You can run Vacuuming but it is time-consuming, causes internal fragmentation of the.db Disk Safe files, and can affect their performance. Soft Quota - The value in bytes or in deltas. Soft Quota is a warning level where users are informed they are close to reaching their effective limit. Hard Quota - The value in bytes or in deltas. Hard Quota allows resources to be occupied by data. If the Hard Quota is reached, then the system forbids generating new Recovery Points. The replication is interrupted and failed. 5. Fill in all the requires fields and click "Create." 6. The new Volume will appear on the CDP Server. Monitoring Agents in Data Center Console CDP Data Center Console allows you to monitor parameters of Agents on multiple CDP Servers at once. This can be done from the "Agents" screen. 39

Follow the instructions below to access the "Agents" screen. 1. Select "Agents" from the Main Menu. You will enter the "Agents" screen.
