14 Migration Tips The two primary areas of concern Examining your code for 64-bit compatibility are as follows: Address calculations Pointer arithmetic ULONG remains a 32-bit value, all pointers are now 64-bit values. 14

15 Memory and CPU Limits 64-bit Windows is capable of supporting up to 16TB of virtual address space (8TB per native process; 8TB for use by the system) Memory allocation for 32-bit processes on 64-bit Windows 32-bit applications that were compiled to be large address aware (e.g., with the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE switch) receive 4GB of virtual address space Otherwise they receive 2GB of virtual address space 15
