1 1 IN THIS CLASS WE ARE GOING TO LEARN THE BASIC FEATURES OF WINDOWS 8.1 WITH HANDS ON TRAINING EACH CLASS WILL RUN APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES WE WILL PICK UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF AT THE NEXT CLASS THE CLASS WILL RUN ON THE SPEED OF THE AVERAGE STUDENT I CAN'T LET ONE OR TWO STUDENTS HOLD THE CLASS BACK THIS CLASS HAS A LOT OF HANDS ON INSTRUCTIONS AND MUST RUN SMOOTHLY. DURING THIS CLASS, THE TASKS THAT YOU ARE ASKED TO DO WILL BE SHOWN ON THE BIG SCREEN SO YOU CAN SEE AND FOLLOW. YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE ONE SHOWN ON THE BIG SCREEN. 2 2 YOU CAN LAUNCH PROGRAMS FROM THE START SCREEN MODE OR THE DESKTOP MODE IS EVERYONE ON THE START SCREEN AS SHOWN ON THE BIG SCREEN THE SQUARES AND RECTANGLES YOU SEE ARE TILES ON THE LOWER LEFT IS A CIRCLE WITH A DOWN ARROW THIS WILL BRING UP ALL APPS INSTALLED ON THE COMPUTER THE UPPER RIGHT HAS THE USERS NAME AND THE POWER OPTION THAT IS A CIRCLE WITH A VERTICLE LINE WHICH WILL ALLOW YOU TO SHUT DOWN, RESTART OR SLEEP NEXT TO IT IS AN ICON THAT LOOKS LIKE A MAGNIFIER THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SEARCH HAS EVERYONE FOUND THEM? FIRST LET S LOOK AT HOW TO FIND AND USE THE DESKTOP MODE I WANT YOU TO ACCESS THE DESKTOP MODE DIRECTLY, FROM THE START SCREEN With your Mouse - Find and Click the Desktop Tile from the Start Screen. NOW YOU SEE THE FAMILIAR DESKTOP THAT YOU HAVE BEEN USING WITH EARLIER VERSIONS OF WINDOWS Now Tap the Windows Key on the Keyboard THIS BRINGS YOU BACK TO THE START SCREEN DESKTOP Tap it again YOU ARE BACK AT THE DESKTOP REMEMBER THE WINDOWS KEY SWITCHES YOU FROM THE DESKTOP OR START SCREEN TRY THIS A FEW TIMES AS YOU WILL BE USING IT DURING THE CLASS (Wait a few minutes)

3 IS EVERY ONE COMFORTABLE WITH THE WINDOWS KEY Page 3 FROM THE DESKTOP YOU CAN RUN THOUSANDS OF WINDOWS APPS THAT ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND COMPATIBLE WITH WIN 8.1 THE WIN 8.1 DESKTOP LOOKS AND OPERATES LIKE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF WINDOWS YOU CAN PIN ICONS ON TASK BAR AND PIN AN ICON ON THE DESKTOP SCREEN BOTH ARE SHORTCUTS TO APPLICATIONS THE DESKTOP INCLUDES THE WINDOWS SCREEN ITSELF A TASKBAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN WITH ICONS YOU PIN TO IT THE SCREEN ITSELF WITH ANY ICONS YOU PIN TO IT THE TASK BAR AND SCREEN ALLOWS YOU TO PIN ICONS FOR YOUR MOST USED PROGRAMS With your Mouse - Click the Folder Icon on the Task Bar THIS LOOKS JUST LIKE A GROUP OF FILE FOLDERS IT OPENS LIBRARYS WHICH IS THE NEW NAME FOR WINDOWS EXPLORER WINDOWS EXPLORER IS THE WINDOW THAT ALLOWS YOU TO WORK WITH FILES AND FOLDERS THE DESKTOP IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO USE IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THIS OPTION IF YOU WANT TO ONLY USE THE DESKTOP MODE YOU CAN. YOU NEVER HAVE TO OPEN THE START SCREEN MODE.. YOU RE CHOICE

4 4 LET'S LOOK AT THE START SCREEN With your Mouse Click the Windows Button on the Lower Left of your Keyboard NOW YOU HAVE RETURNED TO THE START SCREEN Click it again to return to the Desktop Now press the Windows Key on the Keyboard THIS RETURNS YOU TO THE START SCREEN NOW YOU KNOW THE BASIC SHORT CUTS FROM START SCREEN TO DESKTOP AND BACK THE START SCREEN IS A NEW WAY TO NAVAGATE WINDOWS 8.1 ON IT THERE ARE SQUARES AND RECTANGLES CALLED TILES TILES ARE THE PRIMARY HUB FOR NAVIGATION WHEN WORKING THE START SCREEN. EACH TILES ON START SCREEN REPRESENT A DIFFERENT APP IN YOU COMPUTER THE ONES ON THE START SCREEN WHEN YOU FIRST OPEN YOUR PC ARE THOSE THAT MICROSOFT PLACED THERE THESE CAN BE UNPINNED AND NEW ONES CAN BE PINNED ON APPS THAT YOU USE OFTEN SHOULD BE ON THE START SCREEN YOU CAN FIND ALL YOUR APPS IN THE LOWER START SCREEN VIEW TO VIEW ALL APPS INSTALLED With your Mouse - Click the Arrow within the Circle near the Lower-Left Corner of the Start Screen. THIS DISPLAYS ALL THE APPLICATIONS THAT ARE INSTALLED With your Mouse move the wheel forward then back to see all Apps YOU CAN ALSO USE THE ARROWS ON YOUR KEYBOARD TO SCROOL LEFT OR RIGHT

5 5 IT IS EASY TO PIN AN APP TO YOUR START SCREEN With your Mouse - Right- Click on any App on the Lower Screen Select Pin to Start Screen THE START SCREEN OPENS AND THE APP YOU CHOOSE WILL THERE With your Mouse - Again Click the arrow within the circle near the Lower-Left corner of the Start Screen. THIS RETURNS YOU TO ALL YOUR APPS THE APP YOU PINNED HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED ALL APP TILES WILL REMANE ON THE LOWER APP SECTION WHETHER YOU PIN THEM TO THE TASK BAR OR START SCREEN Press the Windows Key to return to the Start Screen With your Mouser Right Click the App you pinned on the Start Screen Choose Unpin from Start THIS WILL UNPIN THE APP YOU SELECTED FROM THE START SCREEN UNPINNING AN APP IS DIFFERENT THAN UNINSTALLING IT UNPINING AN APP FROM YOUR START SCREEN OR TASK BAR REMAINS WITH ALL YOUR APPS IF YOU NEED TO FIND IT AGAIN YOUR START SCREEN IS YOURS TO ORGANIZE AND ARRANGE AS YOU LIKE YOU CAN MAKE THE TILES YOU USE LARGER OR SMALLER. YOU CAN ALSO MAKE GROUPS AND NAME THEM ON THE START SCREEN YOU CAN SIZE AND ARRANGE YOUR TILES IN A WAY THAT LOOKS BEST TO YOU. MY START SCREEN HAS THE SAME TILES AS I HAD AS ICONS ON MY WINDOWS DESKTOP. YOU CAN ALSO RESIZE A TILE ON YOUR START SCREEN MICROSOFT HAS DETERMINED THE SIZE OF THE TILE YOU WANT TO RESIZE With your Mouse - Right-Click on any Tile

6 6 Click Resize Choose the size you want. SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE OR WIDE Click Resize and Resize it to any one you choose AS YOU SEE IT HAS CHANGED TO YOUR DESIRED SIZE Now Resize it back to the way it was YOU CAN ALSO MAKE A GROUP OF TILES AND NAME THEM TILES ARE ARRANGED IN COLUMNS OF 2 FOR EACH GROUP With your Mouse - place your Pointer above any group and Right Click Click on Name Group A BOX APPEARS AND YOU CAN NAME IT Name it THE GROUP NOW HAS A NAME Place your Pointer over the group you named and Click on named groups THERE IS AN X IN THE CORNER Click on the X and the name disappears STAY ON THE START SCREEN HOT CORNERS ARE ANOTHER WAY TO NAVIGATING WINDOWS 8.1 WHETHER YOU'RE IN THE START SCREEN OR THE DESKTOP, YOU CAN NAVIGATE USING HOT CORNERS. TO USE A HOT CORNER YOU CAN MOVE THE MOUSE TO THE CORNER OF THE SCREEN EACH CORNER PERFORMS A DIFFERENT TASK: With your Mouse - Place your Pointer to the Upper Left corner of the Screen

7 7 THIS IS THE APPS SWITCH LIST HOT CORNER ANY APPS THAT ARE OPEN WILL APPEAR AS A VERY SMALL WINDOW IF NONE ARE OPEN THE DESKTOP WILL APPEAR If one appears Click to Open it Close the Screen Press on the Windows Key and go to the Start Screen With your Mouse - Right Click the Windows Icon on the Lower Left of the Screen THIS BRINGS UP THE POWER USER MENU WHICH WE WILL REVIEW LATER Click off the Power User Menu Place your Pointer to the Upper Right corner of the Screen and drag down THIS OPENS THE CHARM BAR Click off that Place your Pointer to the Lower Right corner of the Screen and drag up THIS ALSO OPENS THE CHARMS BAR Click off that LETS TRY THAT AGAIN UNTILL ALL OF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH IT Place your Pointer to the Upper Right corner of the Screen and drag down THE CHARM BAR OPENS Click off that Place your Pointer to the Lower Right corner of the Screen and drag up THE CHARMS BAR OPENS

8 Click off that NOW YOU KNOW 2 WAYS TO OPEN THE CHARMS BAR Page 8 CHARMS ARE ANOTHER WAY TO NAVIGATE WINDOWS 8.1 EACH CHARM HAS FEATURES OF ITS OWN LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THE FUNCTION OF EACH CHARM THERE ARE FIVE CHARMS THE SEACH CHARM ALLOWS YOU TO SEARCH FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THE SHARE CHARM IS USED MOSTLY WITH TOUCH SCREEN COMPUTERS OR TABLETS THE START CHARM BRINGS YOU BACK TO THE START SCREEN THE DEVICE CHARM LETS YOU PRINT - PROJECT TO ANOTHER SCREEN OR PLAY FROM APPS THE SETTINGS CHARM LETS YOU ADJUST MANY SETTINGS WITHIN YOUR COMPUTER CHARM ARE A QUICK WAYS TO NAVIGATE ACTIONS YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO LIKE SEARCHING THE WEB SEARCHING YOUR PC CHANGING SETTING OF YOUR COMPUTER AND ING PHOTOS AND LINKS THEY RE ALWAYS AVAILABLE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN WHETHER YOU ARE IN THE START SCREEN MODE OR THE DESKTOP MODE THE SEARCH CHARM DOES EXACTLY WHAT ONE WOULD EXPECT: SEARCHES FOR STUFF. WHEN USING IT DIRECTLY FROM THE START SCREEN IT ALLOWS YOU TO SEARCH ONCE TO GET RESULTS FROM EVERYWHERE OR YOU CAN SEARCH WITHIN 5 SPECIFIC AREAS With your Mouse swipe your Pointer in from the top Right edge of the Screen, and then Click the Search Charm YOU WILL SEE A BOX THAT YOU CAN ENTER YOUR SEARCH TERM.

9 9 Type in PC AS YOU TYPE, YOU'LL SEE A LIST OF SEARCH RESULTS AND SUGGESTIONS ARE SHOWN From the list choose THIS PC THIS PC WILL OPEN REMEMBER THIS PC IS THE NEW NAME FOR MY COMPUTER YOU CAN NAVIGATE FROM THIS PAGE AS WELL AS THE LIBRARY PAGE Click the X in the Upper Right corner and close THIS PC Press the Windows Key to go back to the Start Screen IF YOU WANT TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR SEARCH YOU CAN NARROW YOUR SEARCH TO EVERYWHERE - YES EVERYWHERE FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER - LIMITED TO SEARCH YOUR FILES YOUR SETTINGS IF YOU WANT TO FIND ONE WEB IMAGES SEARCH THE WEB FOR YOUR DESIRED PICTURE OR VIDEOS ON THE WEB Place your Pointer to the Right Edge of the Screen and then open the Search Charm again Click the V Arrow above the Search Box, and Click Files YOU ARE GOING TO ONLY SEARCH WITHIN YOUR FILES Put in the word COMPUTER A LIST OF FILES WITH THE WORD COMPUTER WILL APPEAR IN A LIST THE NEWEST FILE ON THE TOP YOU CAN CHOOSE THE ONE YOU WANT AND IT WILL OPEN If there are Docs Open one THERE MIGHT BE NO DOC'S IN THE CLUBS COMPUTERS SO YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THIS ON YOUR COMPUTER THERE ARE FIVE AREAS YOU CAN DO A CUSTOM SEARCH

10 10 EVERYWHERE SETTINGS FILES WEB IMAGES AND WEB VIDEOS YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR CUSTOM SEARCH AT HOME Click out of that by Clicking the X in the Upper Right of the Screen Now go to the Start Screen and bring up the Share Charm THE SHARE CHARM AS MUCH AS I TRIED TO DO MORE IT ONLY SENDS THE SCREEN VIEW BY IF YOU WANT TO SEND A SCREEN VIEW BY USE THE SHARE CHARM I WOULD FORGET THIS AND IF I CAN FIGURE IT OUT I WILL HOLD A SPECIAL CALSS ON THE SHARE CHARM Click off the Share Charm open the Charms Bar and open the Start Charm IF YOU CLICK ON IT WILL BRING YOU TO THE START SCREEN. IF YOU RE ALREADY AT THE START SCREEN, YOU LL BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DESKTOP THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO SEARCH EVERYONE SHOULD BE ON THE START SCREEN IF YOU ARE NOT GO TO IT Place your Mouse on the Upper Right corner, drag down and choose the Device Charm THE DEVICES CHARM IS DESIGNED FOR A TOUCH SCREEN COMPUTER OR TABLET IT OFFERS A STREAMLINED INTERFACE FOR INTERACTING WITH THE DEVICES CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER. WHILE THE SCREEN FEATURE WORKS FROM THE DESKTOP, MOST OF THE OPTIONS HERE ONLY WORK WITHIN METRO APPS. METRO APPS ARE TOUCH-SCREEN-FRIENDLY APPS WRITTEN ESPECIALLY FOR TOUCH SCREEN

11 11 COMPUTERS AND TABLETS Click off the Device Charm and go back to the Desktop Mode Place your Mouse on the Upper Right corner, drag down and choose the Settings Charm THIS IS THE PLACE TO MAKE QUICK ADJUSTMENTS TO A FEW COMMON SETTINGS ON YOUR COMPUTER LIKE SETTINGS FOR YOUR PC PERSONALIZATION HELP TO VIEW YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION YOUR SPEAKERS VOLUME NOTIFICATIONS POWER OPTIONS KEYBOARD Choose Control Panel THE CONTROL PANEL IS THE SAME AS IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF WINDOWS WE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL CLASS ON THE WINDOWS 8.1 CONTROL PANEL IN THE FUTURE X out of that Click out of Desktop and all Windows return to the Desktop Mode On the Desktop mode Open the Setting Charm again and choose Personalization With your Mouse - choose change Desktop Icons THIS ALLOWS YOU TO ADD OR REMOVE STANDARD DESKTOP ICONS Click OK Check Computer and User Files Click apply and OK Go back to your Desktop THESE ICONS WILL APPEAR ON YOUR DESKTOP

12 12 From the Desktop mode Open the Setting Charm again and choose Personalization Then choose change Mouse Pointer Go to the Pointer Tab Click on the drop down the Scheme Menu YOU CAN CHANGE THE POINTER TO ONE YOU LIKE BEST Make a choice Apply and OK and you will See the new Pointer YOU SHOULD ALL BE IN SETTINGS CHARM WITH PERSONALIZATION OPEN IN FULL SCREEN Choose Display Choose let me choose one scaling level for all displays THIS ALLOWS YOU TO CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SIZE FOR YOUR ICONS AND TEXT THE CHANGE WILL APPEAR AFTER LOGGING OUT OR YOUR COMPUTER IT WILL CHANGE THE TEXT AND OTHER ITEMS ON YOUR DESK TOP WHILE IN DISPLAY Choose Adjust Resolution THIS CAN CHANGE THE APPEARANCE OF YOUR DISPLAY THE RESOLUTION CAN BE CHANGED IT'S BEST TO KEEP THE RESOLUTION AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL AS THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST DISPLAY IT SHOULD READ RECOMMENDED IF NOT ADJUST TO THE HIGHEST RESOLOTION Use the drop Down Arrow next to Orientation and choose Portrait Now the Screen in the box has changed to portrait Now choose landscape as that is the default view

13 ORIENTATION ALLOWS YOU TO USE (-SHOW WITH A PIECE OF PAPER-) Page 13 THE PORTRAIT SCREEN WHICH IS 8 1/2 INCHES WIDE BY 11 INCHES HIGH OR LANDSCAPE - 11 INCHES WIDE BY 8 1/2 INCHES HIGH. LANDSCAPE IS THE DEFAULT VIEW Choose OK and close the window and go back to the Settings Charm then Personalization With your Mouse - choose Taskbar and Navigation THIS ALLOWS YOU TO: LOCK THE TASKS BAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCK THE TASKBAR USE SMALL TAKSBAR BUTTONS WHERE YOU WANT THE TASKBAR SHOW THE WINDOWS STORE ON THE TASKBAR I AM JUST SHOWING YOU HOW TO DO THIS IF YOU KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT YOUR COMPUTER TO MAKE CHANGES I AM NOT GOING OVER EACH ONE IN THIS BASIC CLASS THIS WILL BE A SUBJECT IN AN ADVANCED CLASS Close that Screen, With your Mouse - choose Ease of Access EASE OF ACCESS IT A USEFULL TOOL FOR THOSE WHO NEED A LITTLE EXTRA HELP IN VIEWING THEIR COMPUTER. IT ALLOW THE USER QUICK ACCESS TO COMMON TOOLS LIKE TURNING ON MAGNIFIER TO GREATLY INCREASE THE SCREEN SIZE SHOWING A KEYBOARD ON THE SCREEN THE NARRATOR WILL SAY EVERYTHING YOU DO WITH THE COMPUTER YOU CAN ALSO ALLOW YOU A HIGH CONTRAST VIEW

14 14 AND LET YOU EXPLORE ALL SETTINGS Close this Screen Go back to the Setting Charm and choose Personalization THIS SCREEN ALLOWS YOU THE CHANGE DESKTOP THEME OR PICTURE GO TO YOUR CONTROL PANEL CHANGE DESKTOP ICONS CHANGE MOUSE POINTER DISPLAY TASKBAR AND NOTIFICATIONS EASY OF ACCESS BE SURE YOUR SCREEN IS MAXIMIZED Now choose get More Themes on line in the middle of the Right Screen Scroll down and choose Compatible with New Windows on the Left of the Middle Screen THERE ARE HUNDREDS TO CHOOSE FROM Scroll down and pick the one you like and Click download IT WILL ASK YOU TO OPEN WITH PERSONALIZATION AS DEFAULT Click OK Go to the Desktop and your new theme is there IF YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE A FAMILY PICTURE ON THE DESKTOP Go back to the Start Screen and open the Pictures Tile Right Click on any picture and choose set as Desktop back ground Go back to your Desktop and it will be displayed Now go back to the Settings Charms and choose PC INFO

Position your Mouse Pointer at the Lower Left corner of the Screen, and Right Click THE POWER USER MENU COMES UP Click on control panel Maximize your Screen ON THE RIGHT HAND OF THE CONTROL PANEL YOU WILL SEE 'VIEW BY' DROP DOWN THE MENU YOU HAVE 3 OPTIONS - CATAGORIES - SMALL ICONS OR LARGE ICONS Choose the Small Icons then categories the Large Icons THIS VIEW ALLOWS YOU A CHOICE OF OPTIONS THERE WILL BE A SEPERATE CLASS REVIEWING ALL THE ITEMS IN THE CONTROL PANEL X out of that Screen back to the Desktop NOW WE WILL LOOK HOW TO MANAGE YOUR FILES AND FOLDERS YOU CAN EASILY MANAGE YOUR FILES AND FOLDERS USING FILE EXPLORER TILE IN THE START SCREEN. FILE EXPLORER WAS PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS WINDOWS EXPLORER.

With your Mouse - Click the Folder Icon on the Taskbar in Desktop view to open Libraries THAT'S THE ICON THAT LOOKS LIKE AN ORDINARY FOLDER THIS OPENS FILE EXPLORER ON THE TOP TOOL BAR ON THE RIGHT IS THE VIEW TAB Click to open the View Tab THE VIEW TAB MAKES IT EASY TO CHANGE THE WAY FILES ARE DISPLAYED WITHIN A FOLDER. OPEN THE PICTURES FOLDER ON THE LEFT MENU Place your Mouse on Small Icons Tiles Large icons List Content Medium icons Details YOU CAN CHOOSE THE ONE THAT EASYIST FOR YOU TO VIEW I USE DETAILS AS IT ALLOWS ME TO CLICK DATE MODIFIED TO SEE THE NEWEST OR OLDEST BY DATE IF I CLICK THE TAB NAME THEY CAN BE VIEWED BY NAME ACCENDING OR DECENDING I CAN CHOOSE TYPE WHICH PUTS ALL THE TYPES TOGETHER ALL DOCS ALL POWER POINTS - ALL EXCEL SHEETS ALL PICTURES

Click the Sort by Icon under the View Tab YOU CAN SORT FILES BY: SIZE NAME FILE TYPE ACCENDING OR DECENDING THESE SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONES YOU WILL USE TO SET YOUR PREFERENCES With your Mouse - Click the Windows Icon on the bottom Left corner of the Screen NOW YOU ARE BACK AT THE START SCREEN Open the THIS PC Tile THIS PC IS THE NEW NAME FOR MY COMPUTER YOU CAN SEARCH AND SORT FILES DIRECTLY FROM THE THIS PC SCREEN IN THE UPPER RIGHT THERE IS A SEARCH BOX In the box type WINDOWS YOUR SEARCH RESULTS WILL APPEAR ANY FILE OR FOLDER IN YOUR COMPUTER WITH THE WORD WINDOWS WILL BE LISTED IN ACCENDING ORDER YOU CAN ARRANGE THE MANY FOLDERS AND FILES THE SAME WAY YOU DID IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEMS WE OFFER A CLASS ON MANAGING FILES AND FOLDERS A FEW TIMES DURING THE YEAR FILES AND FOLDERS ARE THE SAME IN ANY VERSION OF WINDOWS Close all Windows and go back to your Desktop WINDOW KEYS SHORT CUTS ARE COMBINATIONS OF TWO OR MORE KEYS THAT YOU CAN

Hold the Windows Key + C: THE CHARMS BAR OPENS Hold the Windows Key + W: OPENS UNIVERSAL SEARCH MENU AND SETS IT TO SEARCH SETTINGS. Hold the Windows Key + X: BRINGS UP THE POWER USER MENU Hold the Windows Key + I: DISPLAYS THE SETTINGS MENU Hold the Windows Key + F: OPENS UNIVERSAL SEARCH MENU AND SETS IT TO SEARCH FILES. THERE ARE ABOUT 100 WINDOW KEY SHORT CUTS GOGGLE WINDOW KEY SHORT CUTS TO FIND THEM AND CHOOSE THE ONES YOU WANT TO USE I WOULD SUGGEST MAKING A LIST OF THOSE YOU WANT TO USE TO REFER TO UNTIL YOU MEMORIZE THEM Go to back to your Start Screen IN WINDOWS 8.1, YOU CAN EVENLY SPLIT THE SCREEN WITH THE DUAL SCREEN VIEW HAVING A SPLIT SCREEN MAKES IT EASIER TO WORK IN TWO APPS AT THE SAME TIME. TO USE THIS FEATURE YOU MUST BE ON THE START SCREEN Double Click on the Circle with a Down Arrow the Lower Left of the Screen again to view all your Apps and open the MONEY APP

22 22 Choose Accounts YOUR ACCOUNT WILL OPEN Click on the browse button under the picture YOUR PHOTOS WILL OPEN FOR YOU TO CHOOSE AN IMAGE Click on the picture you desire and Click on Choose Image THE NEW PICTURE WILL APPEAR THE NEXT TIME YOU BOOT UP YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU DON T SEE ONE YOU LIKE USE YOUR WEB CAM CAMERA AND CAN TAKE A NEW ONE SAVE IT IN PICTURES AND CHOOSE IT Go back to the Desktop Click on the Flag on the Flag on the Lower Right of the Lower Task Bar and Click on Action Center THE ACTION CENTER OPENS YOU WILL SEE THE LINE NO ISSUES HAVE BEEN DETECTED BY THE ACTION CENTER THIS INDICATED ALL SECURITY SETTINGS ARE OK Click the Down Arrow on the Security Line THIS OPENS ALL YOUR SECURITY SETTINGS AS YOU SEE EVERYTHING IS OK IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED Click the Up Arrow Click the Down Arrow on the Maintenance Line ONCE AGAIN EVERYTHING IS FINE IF EITHER OF THESE IS NOT OK THE FLAG WOULD TURN RED

IT AUTOMATICALLY SCANS YOUR COMPUTER FOR POTENTIALLY HARMFUL APPLICATIONS IT PROVIDES REAL-TIME PROTECTION BY DOUBLE-CHECKING EACH FILE OR APPLICATION YOU OPEN WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN YOUR COMPUTER. WHENEVER YOUR COMPUTER DETECTS A SECURITY THREAT FROM A FILE OR APPLICATION, WINDOWS SMARTSCREEN WILL NOTIFY YOU WITH A FULL-SCREEN WARNING.
