15 15 Wireless Client Manager installation This section describes the installation of the Wireless Client Manager (WiCM) Wireless Client Manager installation prerequisites Before you begin installing WiCM, ensure that Linux is installed and running on the WiCM server Wireless Client Manager installation procedures The sequence of Wireless Client Manager installation procedures is as follows: "Installing Wireless Client Manager" (page 15) "Running Wireless Client Manager scripts" (page 17) Installing Wireless Client Manager Perform this procedure to install WiCM on stand-alone WiCM servers Step Action 1 Log on to the stand-alone WiCM server as sysadmin 2 Switch the user su root 3 Place the WiCM CD in the DVD-ROM drive 4 Mount the DVD-ROM drive mount/mnt/cdrom 5 Log off exit 6 Log on as nortel 7 Change the directory to /mnt/cdrom NN Standard MCS May 2007

21 Installing Microsoft Exchange 2003 System Manager Tools 21 2 At the server level, set Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information Store permissions End Installing JDBC drivers Perform this procedure to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Step Action 1 Go to the Microsoft Web site: wwwmicrosoftcom 2 Search for JDBC SP3 3 Download the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC SP3 to your BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4 Launch and install the JDBC driver End Installing Microsoft Exchange 2003 System Manager Tools Perform the following procedure to install Microsoft Exchange 2003 System Manager Tools Step Action 1 Log on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the BESAdmin username and password 2 Insert the Microsoft Exchange CD in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server machine If the installation does not begin automatically, browse to the root of your CD-ROM drive and click setupexe 3 Select Exchange Deployment Tools 4 Select Install Exchange System Management Tools Only 5 Verify that you have the Required Services installed 6 Scroll down and select Run Setup Now The Microsoft Exchange Installation Wizard appears NN Standard MCS May 2007

22 22 BlackBerry Enterprise Server configuration 7 Click Next 8 Accept the license agreement and then click Next 9 For the Action of the Microsoft Component, select Custom 10 For the Action of the Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools Component, select Install 11 Click Next The Installation Summary page appears 12 Review your selections and click Next 13 Click Finish to complete the installation End Installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Step Action 1 Click setupexe, located at: C:\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server 41X 2 Accept the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software License Agreement and click Next 3 For Setup Type, select BlackBerry Enterprise Server with MDS Service 4 For Instant messaging environment, select None, unless one is being used 5 Click Next 6 Accept the Apache License Agreements for Additional Software and click Next 7 Accept the Common Public License Agreement and click Next 8 Verify that the Pre-Install Checklist is complete If there are any outstanding items in the Pre-Install Checklist, click Back and make the necessary changes 9 Click Next The Installation Info page appears See Figure 2 "Installation Info" (page 23) NN Standard MCS May 2007

23 Installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 23 Figure 2 Installation Info 10 Enter your password for the BESAdmin service account 11 Leave the Installation folder and Log file folders locations as is, unless you choose to have them placed elsewhere 12 For Name, type a name for your BlackBerry Enterprise Server 13 Click Next 14 Select Yes, install MSDE 2000 locally for the option of Install MSDE 2000 and click Next 15 Review the Installation Summary of your BlackBerry Enterprise Server If any installation parameters are incorrect, click Back to make the necessary changes 16 Click Next The installation begins 17 When the installation is complete, click Continue 18 Click Yes to reboot the server NN Standard MCS May 2007

25 Installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server When the database is complete, a notification message appears Click OK 29 Enter the Client Access License (CAL) provided by RIM and click Next The Client Access License is printed on the installation CD 30 Click Test Network Connection If you do not receive a success message, review your network settings and verify connectivity to the internet 31 Click Next 32 Enter the SRP authentication information provided with your software, including: SRP Identifier SRP Authentication Key Host Routing Information (if available) 33 Click Validate SRP Key and ID 34 A message appears, stating that the SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key are valid Click OK If you do not receive this message, check that the information is entered correctly 35 Click Next The Microsoft Exchange Server window appears See Figure 4 "Microsoft Exchange Server" (page 25) Figure 4 Microsoft Exchange Server NN Standard MCS May 2007

28 28 BlackBerry Enterprise Server configuration Configuring BlackBerry Enterprise Server Step Action 1 Log on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 2 In the Windows taskbar, select Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server >BlackBerry Manager 3 A message appears prompting you to create a MAPI profile for BlackBerryManager Click OK 4 Enter the Microsoft Exchange Server IP address and click OK The BlackBerry Manager application launches 5 In the Explorer View panel in BlackBerry Manager, select BlackBerry Domain 6 Select the Global tab 7 Select the Edit Properties link in the Main panel The Global Properties page appears 8 Select IT Policy 9 Select IT Policies and click the button for IT Policies 10 In the IT Policies page, highlight the default IT Policy and click the New button The Properties page appears 11 Select the WLAN Policy Group property from the left properties list The WLAN Policy Group Settings page appears See Figure 7 "WLAN Policy Group Settings page" (page 29) NN Standard MCS May 2007

30 30 BlackBerry Enterprise Server configuration 17 A security alert message appears Select View Certificate 18 Click the Install Certificate button 19 In the Certificate Import Wizard, click Next 20 Select Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate 21 Click Next 22 Click Finish 23 A security alert message appears, prompting you to install the certificate Select Yes 24 A message appears, confirming that the import is successful Click OK 25 Click OK to close the Certificate window 26 Click Yes to close the original Security window 27 Enter your administrator username and password for the MDS Services database 28 In the MDS Services page, click the Start Service link and wait for the status to change to Normal End Adding users to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Step Action 1 Log on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the BESAdmin username and password 2 In the Windows taskbar, select Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server >BlackBerry Manager 3 In the Explorer View panel in BlackBerry Manager, select the BlackBerry server listed under the Servers tree 4 In the main panel, select the Users tab 5 Under Tasks, select the Add Users link The Select Mailbox page appears NN Standard MCS May 2007

31 Activating the handheld on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 31 6 In the list of available users, highlight the users you wish to add and click Select 7 Click OK to add the selected users End Activating the handheld on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Step Action 1 Cradle the BlackBerry handheld you intend to assign to the user into the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using the USB port 2 In the Users page in BlackBerry Manager, highlight the user of the handheld 3 In the Device Management area of the main panel, select the Assign Device link The Select a Device page appears, showing one listed device 4 Select the listed device and click OK 5 Disconnect the handheld from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server only when the following two conditions are met: The status of the user changes from Initializing to Running in BlackBerry Manager, and All items listed in the Enterprise Activation screen on the handheld are shown as complete 6 To verify that the handheld is successfully registered to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, check the status of the VoWLAN If the handheld is successfully registered, it is shown as VoWLAN, with WLAN in blue If WLAN is greyed out, the handheld is not registered End NN Standard MCS May 2007

33 33 Wireless Client installation This section describes the installation of Wireless Client on the BlackBerry handheld Note: The Wireless Client works only with Java-based devices The supported BlackBerry devices are those in the 62xx, 65xx, 67xx, 71xx, 72xx, 75xx, or 77xx series, which are Java-based Wireless Client installation prerequisites Before you begin installing the Wireless Client on your BlackBerry, ensure that: Your BlackBerry is one of the 62xx, 65xx, 67xx, 71xx, 72xx, 75xx, or 77xx series devices Your BlackBerry mobile device installation is complete Your access is enabled on the Mobile Data System (MDS) component of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) The Wireless Client is provisioned in your service package Verify this using the Personal Agent For more information, refer to Personal Agent User Guide (NN ) You have your own BlackBerry Desktop Manager, dedicated to your mobile device, running on your PC You are familiar with your telephone menus, navigation, and data entry You have the following information from your system administrator: file server location of the Wireless Client software Wireless Client configuration parameters Wireless Client installation procedures "Downloading the Wireless Client application " (page 34) "Installing the Wireless Client application " (page 35) "Configuring Wireless Client system settings" (page 35) NN Standard MCS May 2007
